2.  Erdwick has learned more about the art of Weapon Soul, even meeting the founder in the current era Mazharin and meeting Lady Sherbert and being told some of it history and workings and what he should aim for.
3.  He remembers the people he is fighting for, both in Kori Ja and back on his home island.
