AKANE TENNOU:

The No. 1 ranked Crossbone and the leader. She hails from an isekai series called Ascendance of the Demon King! [Insert generic subtitle here]. Originally having been a normal Japanese girl who was a chuunibyou when she was very young, she grew up to be a lesbian, who pined after another one of her classmates. She was also fond of dark online fiction as a way of dealing with how her society demonized her feelings. However, when her mother found out the truth about her sexual orientation, she became gradually abusive, as well as outing her to the teachers of her school and thus, via the grapevine, the students. Other girls teased and bullied her for her shy personality and sexual orientation, and eventually, they set up a horrible trick where her crush would invite her on a date - by promising to pay her crush's sick older brother's medical bills. However, when Akane arrived, they revealed themselves and outed her in front of the whole restaurant, causing Akane to flee in tears, her crush following her. While running, she was hit by a truck driver, and bled out in front of the ground in front of her crush, begging for help and that she didn't want to die. She was shortly after reincarnated into a world as the daughter of a demonic overlord, and his heir, and grew up to her teenage years a second time, being taught proper conduct for a demon king. She was promised many servants and lands, but eventually the forces of light attacked her father's kingdom and killed her father, causing what remained of it to follow into competing clans, while she was taken somewhere else, allegedly dead, to begin rebuilding her army.

Akane's personality is exceptionally cruel and intimidating, being full of scorn towards the world that's hurt her and an immense sense of entitlement. She has an intimidating, fear-inducing presence due to a combination of her personality and her towering size and imposing appearance, which she takes great satisfaction in due to her overall rather sadistic attitude, taking great pleasure in the fear and suffering of others. Despite the fact she herself suffered great pain in her life as a human, she seems to offer no sympathy for the suffering of others - outside her own group, seemingly out of a sense of resentment and catharsis that leads her to seek others to suffer as she suffered. Much of her motivation spurs from a desire to get what she believes is hers - respect, love, wealth, power, etc., feeling that she was denied these things as a human and now that she finally has the means, it's all for the taking - she has no higher ambition other than to achieve success and conquest simply due to feeling it's what the universe owes her after all the suffering it inflicted on her. Despite how selfish these motivations are however, she is not a purely selfish individual, and indeed shows great consideration and care for her subordinates among the Crossbones, believing they are entitled to the same victory and spoils she is, and that they should place their faith in her as a result, often going on long winded speeches about how she will satisfy their dreams and deliver to them their greatest wishes. However, most of her subordinates are quite afraid or intimidated by her due to her temper and cruelty, and she is beset with insecurity and anxiety that they only follow her out of fear rather than companionship, even if they ultimately do follow her out of respect and admiration. This insecurity does not extend to the other members of the top 4 Crossbones however, with Roa being adoring of her, Amelia being completely loyal, and Harvest not having a sense of fear in any way, and thus she feels closer to them than many of the others - even if she does respect them as well.

When she was a child, Akane had "chuunibyou syndrome", a cultural sort of "syndrome" where a child is constantly stuck in a roleplay identity, often a somewhat dark, anti-heroic or villainous one with an intense flare for the dramatic. While she eventually grew out of acting like this constantly, she came to absorb a lot of the mannerisms of her child self when she became the new demon prince, and this persists to the present day, where she is fond of dramatic hand gestures, villainous monologues, and doing specific villainous acts simply to show off. She has a wicked, cruel sense of humor and often finds sick catharsis in specific, ironic misfortunes and the degradation of others, and shows no shame for it in the least, and she'll often let loose one of her iconic asshole laughs whenever some especially terrible misfortune becomes apparent to her. She normally is extremely calm and serene in behavior, speaking in refined and precise tone even when describing horrible things she plans to inflict on her enemies or chronicling a sad fate somebody has fallen to. She even sort of pretends to respect her enemies in this vein, but whenever an enemy begins genuinely challenging her, she'll quickly change her tune and expose her ugly side, revealing this respect to be a farce. When her serene attitude falters however, her real, extremely short temper soon reveals itself, exposing a deep sense of rage, anger, and hate towards whatever set her off, simple movements shaking the earth around her and her voice dripping with poison whenever this comes to pass, though she never really raises her voice in this state - the closest is becoming more gravelly. She hates genuine setbacks and people who remind her of people from her original life, but she has a special hatred for those who take their comfortable life for granted - even viciously attacking Amber when she learns Amber abandoned her extremely well off life simply because she was bored with the mundane world. She can feel a certain sympathy for people with similar plights to her, but it's overall minor in comparison.

Whenever given free time outside her attacks, schemes, and planning sessions, Akane reveals a surprisingly laid back and casual personality, in many ways showing off the type of person she used to be before her reincarnation into her new form - dropping the heavy and ominous outfits in favor of comfortable hoodies and spending most of her time playing video games, enjoying the company of her succubi, reading books and watching TV. However, this is not what she is like all the time in her base, and is more specifically when she wants to take time and relax, spending the rest of her free time in her normal appearance and personality, meaning that even these brief lapses in behavior don't lead her servants to get the wrong idea about her. Akane is a person of many vices, both in the realms of seeking catharsis and revenge, but also in the baser states of vice, particularly lust, and feels she is entitled to love and sex the same way she is entitled to victory and glory, using her Dark Mark 'Succubus' to transform certain individuals into succubus demons that are completely in love with her, serving as both her personal groupies and, oftentimes, useful servants due to their dangerous combat abilities and often vicious temperament. When she believes something is hers, she truly means it, and often takes great offense to any suggestions that's not the case. Likewise, she despises when people suggest that she doesn't have to be evil, believing that if the universe truly wanted her to be good or kind it should have not tortured her first. Despite all these cruelties and vices however, she is not as completely cold hearted as she'd like to portray herself, showing a deep appreciation for her followers an din particular having a close sisterly bond with Roa, as well as good friends with Amelia and Harvest. However, her positive feelings are almost exclusively limited to her fellow Crossbones, and she has no remorse or consideration for anybody outside their group, despite how hypocritical it makes her at times. Despite trying to move past her history, she still deeply longs for Aoi and misses her more than anything else, but believes that time has past as they will never meet again.

Akane's powers are a set of magic spells called Dark Marks, insidious, evil magic symbols that carry a variety of unique effects and abilities, being capable of summoning monsters, enslaving others to her will or transfiguring them into succubi, releasing destructive magical abilities, or summoning magic weapons to fight with. They have a unique system where they can variously be stacked or released in sequence depending on the mark, with unique effects based off whether they're stacked and how many stacks have been activated, at the cost of increasing a cooldown for use. There are also a number of transformative marks she can use on herself in order to strength her abilities, as well as a special Dark Mark that summons a skull made of black, shadowy ooze that crashes down onto the earth and takes anything it hits into another reality, where Akane gains access to her most powerful and terrifying Dark Marks. Her left Void Eye has the power of Dominion, allowing her to sense the presence of other beings given Void Eyes - thus the other crossbones - and lend them her power if necessary, as well as detonate the eye in a massive explosion if she feels they have betrayed the purpose of the Crossbones, while her right Void Eye has the power of Doom, granting her a unique Dark Mark - called Omen, that can be used in her pocket dimension that summons a clock which will count down from thirteen 13 times, instantly killing the target if it successfully counts down all thirteen times. Her named rank among the Crossbones is King, and her symbol to match is a crown with demon wings, designed in such a way that the negative space between both creates a skull with spiral eyes.

Akane has extremely pale skin, verging on pure white in coloration, and her musculature, blood, sharp teeth, and saliva are all black, giving a creepy effect where her mouth seems completely black at all times, making her smiles seem like voids - when illustrated, a toothy smile would instead be represented by a dotted line in order to get past the difficulty of drawing the black teeth and black mouth together, and when feeling especially cruel or sadistic she often has a drop of black saliva dripping from her mouth. Her eyes are completely black, except when angry or using her pocket dimension, causing the Crossbones Symbol pupils to glow very bright white. She is staggeringly tall and somewhat lanky, but also quite muscular and toned in appearance. Finally, her hair is two tone, being primarily black, but having red designs and markings on it, particularly along the top and sides, which curl like a pair of ram's horns, as well as four other, smaller loops below these horns - 2 on each side, that extend forward like horns of a different shade, while the rest of her hair is long and black. Her body from the neck down is covered in demonic, stylized black tattoos/markings with common trends such as wings, spikes, crosses, skulls, and eyes.

When her black blood is spilled, it floats in the air as though there were no gravity. The most striking element of her outfit is her long, black cape, which is tattered at the end and has a much smaller, jagged black and silver mantle around the shoulders, covered in red spiral patterns, and connected to a lock at the front of the mantle in the shape of a silver Crossbones skull. This cape is a magical accessory that can suddenly transform into a pair of massive, intimidating demon wings for flight. On her chest she wears a black dress shirt with prominent ruffles and a bloody red brooch with a spiral design at the center, and silver buttons down to the waist, while her sleeves end in prominent black cuffs with silver buttons and black leathery gloves with extremely sharp, clawed fingers. Her shirt has a prominent, tail-like hem at the back. She wears a black belt a prominent silver cross design at the front, a small skull at the center of the cross in question, with red spiral patterns along the rest of the belt. On her legs she wears black dress pants with silver buttons along the outward sides, and on her feet she wears prominent black boots with prominent, crossbones skull-like cuffs at the top and prominent red straps along the front, and red soles. When enraged or in her pocket dimension, her hair is jagged, wild, and free-flowing.

Her invitation read: "Your highness, Akane Tennou, we hereby invite you to the Calling, the festival that crosses all worlds. Should you partake of our offer, endless delights shall be yours to enjoy, empires for you to carve, slaves to add to your possession, and, most importantly of all, you shall truly reach your potential as a Demon King.
