Yeona was born and raised in Incheon, South Korea.  She was born as the daughter to young teen parents.  Her grandparents were the ones that raised her due to her parents being involved with alcohol and drugs.  Yeona didn’t live with her grandparents until she was eleven, so the first eleven years of her life contained alcohol, drugs, and abuse. Due to her past, Yeona feels very uncomfortable talking about her past to really anyone.  Yeona also had a really rough time during her trainee years.  She started training at a young age and all the other female trainees were older than her.  They would tease her for her age, but they were all actually just jealous of her insane beauty and talent.  Yeona also struggled with health issues during the first couple years of Rainbow.  She even got thin enough that she took a two year hiatus from the group.  She still till this day struggles with a eating disorder.

Yeona is a very friendly and motherly person.  She may be a lot more on the shy side, but she can also be pretty talkative.  With just the other members, she tends to joke around a lot.  She’s the type of person that doesn’t easily open up to people.  Yeona is not selfish in any type of way and shows empathy to other people, even the ones that may not deserve it very much.  She can be really playful and childish sometimes, along with her many sarcastic comments.  Overall, Yeona is someone people love to be around due her friendly and adorable personality.  It may be hard for Yeona to open up, but when she does, her personality is completely different.  Many people know her as the shy beauty from Rainbow, but she’s also a completely different person on stage.  On stage, she shows off the sexy, bold, and confident side of her like no one is even watching, even though her sub unit is more cutesy.
