  1. Ansuz // "Anne-Suze" / Translation: "A God"
  2.
  3. Ansuz is thought to be directly invoking Odin himself. Another translation for Ansuz is "breath." The Norse believed that the essence of life was to breathe and have breath. Some archeologists suspect this is why noses are missing from so many captured statues of the viking age, the idea being that spirits could not inhabit an effigy that could not hold breath.

  5. Odin famously sacrificed an eye for knowledge of all, and this is the spirit of the rune Ansuz. It is about wisdom, learning, and the very essence of what it is to be alive. It invokes a consciousness of yourself and all around.
  6.
  7. This rune is great for writers, artists, and all others who delve into creative efforts. It is a cause for inspiration or erratic states of mind that allow all traditional or non traditional knowledges to permeate. This rune calls for you to either breathe life and knowledge in, or to breathe it into others.
