- Memoric: ban him. Meditite, with the abilities to perform as a great pivot, excellent way of getting / maintaining momentum, and excellent breaker, simply does too many things at too good a rate to be considered legal in the current Doubles Little Cup metagame. The Eviolite set simply provides too much utlity at too little a cost in one Pokemon slot; as it can take numerous hits and possibly recover them later on with Drain Punch, it's also capable of snagging turns with Fake Out against faster teams or in situtations where the initiative needs to be taken back. In addition, it's also capable of slamming slower teams as a powerful offensive threat with Pure Power, which lends it very considerable breaking ability. The most anyone can knock against it is its Speed, which is pretty much in the middle and still outruns a significant majority of the metagame; only a handful of threats such as Aipom, Elekid, Gligar, Misdreavus, and Ponyta can beat Meditite in this way, and even then they are only above average at the job aside from Misdreavus. It's simply really hard to deal with as the combination of power, speed, and utility make it to be a very centralizing force to a fault, its presence making other Fighting-types outclassed and slower Pokemon constantly at the threat of getting smashed. It's truly at the point where not using Meditite can be considered to be a mistake in teambuilding; it's threatening, it's bulky, it gets momentum--it does everything one would need and more. Hence, I would like to see this banned.
- On another note, other sets have seen talk, use and consideration, these sets mainly being Choice Scarf and Life Orb. These sets stress of Meditite's breaking / offensive prowess much more strongly at the cost of utility; they are, by themselves, also considerably dangerous, though they don't merit as much consideration as the Eviolite set when it comes to this discussion.
- dsr95: Meditite has incredible power, coverage, and just the right amount of bulk and speed to be the biggest physical threat in the metagame. Fake Out allows Meditite to poke and pressure opponents while also giving its teammate free reign to take advantage of opponents being forced into a defensive position. Drain Punch gives Meditite a means to recover HP while also dishing out crazy damage with it's effective 26 Attack stat (thanks to Pure Power). Zen Headbutt hits anything that can switch into Drain Punch outside of Psychic-types (which aren't very good), essentially making Meditite near impossible to switch safely into by what normally checks it if they're already on the field (Spritzee, Misdreavus, etc). It also lives Shadow Ball from both Misdreavus and +1 Porygon with its bulky set, and it can retalliate against both of them. The only flaw about Meditite is that its speed is a bit awkward but you can easily get around it with some means of speed control such as Tailwind, Trick Room, Icy Wind, etc. Also, do I really to mention what Life Orb Brave Meditite can do under Trick Room? Hint: It kills things.
- tl;dr, it's too strong, has just enough bulk to live key hits, has decent enough speed to break through anything slower, and it has crazy coverage that makes it hard to switch into. [BAN]
- Rhydon: Meditite has 3 things going for it. A fight type with Fake out(and Feint) aka glue for any team. Instant/Insane wallbreaking force utilizing Pure Power with or without Life Orb. And a Choice Scarf set that beats more things then it's supposed to be able to do tho overall less effective. The first is more of an ''it's outclassing other fight types completely'' argument as it does in fact take a lot of utility away from other fight type pokemon (namely Mienfoo) but not to any extend of un-justifying Scraggy/Croagunk on a team they would be more suited for. Honestly I think this is the most directly replaceable thing about Meditite if it were to be banned. If this was concerning a pokemon like Scraggy or Mienfoo who could substitute Medite would also fit this description with the main difference in the power creep. The second argument however is much more of a concern as Meditite is able to 1HKO otherwise amazing pokemon like Foongus/Porygon and 2HKO counters to it in Misdreavus/Spritzee, meaning you got a Fake out user with bare to no counters. The Choice Scarf set is a subject on it's own. Choice scarf allows Meditite not just to outspeed the full unboosted tier it also allows it to outspeed half of all the relevant scarf users by it's offensive preference on virtually any team that likes an offensive Scarf user. If I had to give a direct reason to ban it, it would be because of how easy it is to slap it on a team. Almost every team loves the uses of Bulky Eviolite Meditite for its insane strength + Fake Out. I agree to banning Meditite from G7 LC Doubles. [Ban]
- Merritt: Meditite is an overly centralizing influence in the LC Doubles metagame. It has a few things that push it over the edge for me - its absolutely insane power, its honestly rather good speed tier that allows it to fit onto pretty much any playstyle, and its customizable movepool which includes Fake Out, which coming off 26/28 attack is actually almost as much damage as it is normal Fake Out support. Switching into Meditite is difficult at best due to its very good neutral coverage and high power; switching something outside of niche choices like Honedge is more an exercise in predicting what move Meditite plans to use next rather than actually having a somewhat safe answer. Even when facing off against would-be checks like Misdreavus the bulkier Eviolite set which several people have popularized is able to survive fairly strong super effective hits and takes on neutral attacks without much difficulty. This is further improved by the recovery of Drain Punch. Meditite as a whole has a lot going for it and basically nothing going against it, leading to a pokemon that you can put on basically any team and have pull its weight. In short, Meditite crosses the line for me of broken vs very good, so I believe that it should be banned.
- Nido-Rus:The problem with Meditite isn't really that it's an overall great mon, or that it outclasses other fighting types. It's that it's absurd on its own, with evioite sets having good bulk and solid recovery and still getting big OHKOs, and more offensive sets often getting clean OHKOs on bulkier mons with LO or outspeeding potential checks with scarf. Meditite has a very reliable combination of bulk, power, recovery, and utility, which leaves teams scrambling to find pokemon that can either revenge kill it or switch into it to some extent. Meditite is the definition of an overcentralizing force while teambuilding, and thus I believe it should be banned.
