  1. Gamification is just another avenue of social engineering. Hell, even Ian Bogost didn't like gamification. Little things lead to big things.
  2.
  3. Ever find it ridiculous about spergs that care too much about the most underachieving and meaningless Xbox Live achievements and social points rather than exploring what the video game itself has to offer?
  4.
  5. This is a problem. Similar to dogs chasing their own tails. You can't teach the social concepts these social scientists want to push on people w/o allowing them to experience the hardships and nuance of life as individuals.
  6.
  7. When people learn to toy around with offense, they have the grand opportunity to learn more about each other and their values. That's something only life and not someones bias tossed in a Skinner box can ever really teach, and the nuance of that will be lost in these social engines meant to promote groupthink.
  8.
  9. It's just poor extrinsic motivation (social reward or punishment) being put over intrinsic motivation (inspiration, burning curiosity, thrill of challenge, enjoyment).
  10.
  11. Pushing people to do shit they normally wouldn't. No different than selling indulgences in Catholic Church.
  12.
