  1. I need to remind myself to ponder about the relationship between Sarasha and her daughters
  2. I kinda wanted to go for something like.. Aries received more attention, but Iris was given more expectations
  3. And then...
  4.
  5. Did Sarasha want Aries to grow up to be like her? Or did she want Iris to be like her?
  6. Did Aries and Iris respect each other? Was Iris envious of the attention Aries received? What did Aries think, knowing Iris was always regarded as superior in ability, or had higher expectations put on her? Did she know? Iris certainly did.
  7. And finally, did the daughters want to be like their mother or not?
  8.
  9. Hmmm.. some of these answers are probably already known to me, but I was inspired by a couple songs to try and consider these topics more seriously for them
  10. Aries isn't stupid but was relatively oblivious to her mother's true nature.. and even to Iris overall
  11. On the other side, Iris was always pretty aware of everything
  12.
  13. I guess I should think about this too: whether it's possible for someone to be put on a pedestal, and simultaneously shoved into the background? Are those things compatible? Cuz that's what my initial plan for Iris was
  14. Noone will remember her name, even though she was immediately chosen to be Sarasha's heiress
  15. On the other hand, Aries wasn't expected to do anything, she was just showered with love
  16. Basically, if Sarasha is a queen, Iris was born and immediately groomed and expected to become the next queen, but Aries got to enjoy being a princess
  17. I hesitate to use the term 'princess' with them cuz it just makes me think of Disney but... it's accurate
  18.
  19. So one child was given love in abundance, and the other was more or less not shown any affection... Sarasha loved both her daughters of course, but.. her true nature is that of a tyrant: before anything, she is an authority, a queen- Wait oop, wrong direction
  20. So Aries was given love and Iris wasn't (generalizing)...
  21. Iris resigned herself to never being loved, and didn't desire it; she'd never known it or cared for it, or so she'd say
  22. And Aries was all too familiar with it and happy to have it, when she was younger
  23. But the version of Aries I talk about usually, the one in her pre-teen to young adult years, practically avoids any instance of affection or any talk of love
  24. And Iris will eventually, at one point, seek it out, following the overused 'cold heart seeking warmth' trope: I doubt I can make an unexpected, innovative spin on that and make it fit my vision of Iris-- it's been done to death and in different genres so I think there's nothing new I could do there
  25.
  26. So all that's left is to reflect on these questions:
  27.
  28. Did Sarasha want her daughters to be like her? And did her daughters want to be like her? And question what each daughter thought of the other...
