a conversation between a clown and a flasher

The red and blue doll-creature fluttered down from the sky, landing on the rocky cliffside where a tall hatted, cloaked individual stood. "You wanted us to meet here?" Vex said as he landed, a bit disgusted. "How droll!"

"Do you have any better ideas?" Mr. Dark asked sarcastically.

"...Pah, fair enough." Vex said with a shrug. Vex was twice as tall as Dark, owing to his previous engagement, but gradually shrunk down to meet his fellow nightmare creature at eye level. "I don't belieeeeve I caught your name, friend."

"Dark. Mr. Dark." Dark replied. "You haven't shut up about yourself since you first showed up, so I feel I know you well, Vex."

"Yes, I am on the tad dramatic side, aren't I?" Vex said with a grin smugger than you can imagine. "Ruler of nightmares, master of the Uproar, all that wonderful stuff. What about you?"

"I am also a nightmare creature, born from darkness." Mr. Dark said. "I believe that we could be an excellent team."

"My, a fellow nightmare?" Vex said with a chuckle. He let out a gasp and suddenly zipped over to Dark, wrapping one of his tendril-y arms around him. "Brothers from another world! Extreeeeemely extended family! Hah, I like that!"

"We aren't family." Mr. Dark grimly responded, pushing Vex off of him. "I'd prefer to keep things professional. You and I, attempt to take over this place."

"I gathered that..." Vex started, as he lazily drifted up into the air, turning on his side. "I know I offer a lot; wit, charm, good looks, reality bending powers, but what exactly do YOU offer ME?"

"Extreme magical abilities." Mr. Dark said. "The power to create armies and powerful monsters."

"Oh, how exciting!" Vex let out with faux excitement. "That sounds wonderful, but I can already do that myself. I can bend any feeble minded creature to my will with the power of my Uproar."

Mr. Dark let out a low laugh. "And how many 'feeble minded' creatures have you seen around here?" He retorted. "This place is bare outside of those who have been brought here, and I can't imagine any of them are dumb enough for you to corrupt."

For the first time in the conversation, Vex's smile turned to a grimace. He dropped to ground. "Alright, and what exactly do you need for your 'armies'?" He asked.

"Some of your apparent limitless power would do nicely." Dark stated. "A small contribution, and then I can get started. That sounds like a fair deal, don't you agree?" Dark held out one of his disembodied hands, preparing to make the deal.

Vex glared at the nightmare for a moment. "What, do you think I'm crazy?" He asked... before his expression suddenly lifted, returning to a massive smile. "Of course I agree!" Vex quickly wrapped his hand around Dark's, shaking it vigorously.

"And we'll rule this place together, correct?" Vex asked.

"Yes." Dark said back. "The both of us."

"As a team."

"Yes."

The continued to shake hands and glare at each other for a while, both of them fully aware they had their fingers crossed behind their backs.
