"You're in for a real treat in a moment..." She said loud enough for the unusually quiet crowd of eleven-year-olds to hear. She wasn't wrong- they turned a bend in the path and there before them was a vast, glassy lake. But more importantly, drawing many 'ooh's and 'ahh's from the other kids, across the lake and perched high on a cliff, a magnificent castle that looked straight out of a fairy tale, lights twinkling from the many windows, moon poised dramatically behind one of the many spindling towers. It was reflected perfectly in the mirror-like surface of the lake below. The boy's jaw dropped and, for the first time, he was completely impressed and awed by Hogwarts.

The woman gave them all a moment to appreciate the sight, before ushering them along again. At the end of the path was a dock, leading out to the large lake. Four students to a boat, they were instructed, and Dave made sure to get on the same one as his new friend (if John didn't tug him into it on his own).

Dave worried for a moment that they'd have to row, until he noticed no oars. And then a moment later, the entire small fleet of boats all took off at once, gliding through the water on their own, obviously bewitched. Well... that was certainly convenient. He clung to his friend the entire way across the lake, at a loss for words as he watched the castle grow bigger and bigger as it got closer and closer. It was utterly amazing.

Finally, the boats came to a dock, and the students were led up a winding staircase, and into a magnificent entry hall. There was a massive marble staircase, and beautiful stone floor, and many doors- one of which was a very large pair of double-doors, from behind which came an awful lot of voices. That must've been where the rest of the students were.

A witch was waiting for them. She was very tall, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and a rather sharp and smart-looking set of dark green-black robes. There was something twinkling about them, the fabric reminding Dave of outer space. "I'll take them from here," He said in a smooth voice, and the other woman who'd escorted them thus far took that as her leave. The tall witch introduced herself as the Deputy Headmistress, before instructing the first years to follow her. There was something about that woman that just exuded authority.

They were ushered into a side-chamber, and explained the houses and the sorting. What she said about the houses wasn't new after what John had said, but the sorting was interesting- apparently they had to wear a hat that would decide their house? Weird magic shit.

After that, she told them to wait there quietly, as she'd be back to get them for the sorting ceremony once the rest of the school was ready. Shoes clicking on the stone ground, the witch left into the louder room, leaving the first years in the side-chamber. They didn't wait all that quietly, the children immediately bursting into chatter, mainly about the upcoming sorting.

"Um, John?" Dave said, worry clear in his voice. He was frowning behind his dark sunglasses. "What do we do if we don't get in the same house? I know we promised, but..." He was afraid of the separation, not wanting to be stranded in a house full of strangers. He had a sneaking feeling he wouldn't make another friend as easily as he did John.




new prompt, abusive bro

18+ (sorry but I'm uncomfortable rping with minors in general)

TW: familial abuse

I really wanna do an RP with identical twins Dave and Davis(human Davesprite) in their late teens (16 or older). Premise is, Dave realizing that Bro, even if he loves them, is abusive towards them. Dave wants to get out, but he refuses to leave Davis alone in that situation and wants Davis to come with him. But Davis is still convinced nothing is wrong, and staunchly defends Bro's actions as not abusive.

So basically, Dave trying to convince his twin brother of the truth and to come with him, but Davis is stubborn and still believing that everything is fine. Can lead to Davis taking it really, really hard when Dave finally convinces him, and the two of them struggling to find someplace/someway else to live.


For the record, I have very specific headcanons for Dave/Davis, and since they're identical twins they'd have to look about the same, but I'd really, really like to keep my headcanons. I understand that could be frustrating if they clash with yours, sorry.

Headcanons: Latino, with brown skin, many dark freckles, and rust-red hair. Outwardly curved, slightly beaky nose. Short at 5'3" post-puberty. Davis is chubby but Dave doesn't need to be.

It would be appreciated if you followed those headcanons if you pick this prompt up, thanks. I know people don't like being auto'd, but we're going to be RPing identical twins and I really don't want to sacrifice my headcanons in this rp.
