- [ci]Unfortunately, these two species are not compatible. As Angelfish age and grow in size, they will become predatory, to Neon Tetras. Even in the wild, Angelfish are the natural predator of the Neon Tetra. While contrary to popular belief, Neon Tetras in fact can achieve sizes of up to 2 inches. However, Angelfish typically reach around 6-7 inches in length and 7-8 inches in height and are of the size to generally eat or at least nip a full sized Neon Tetra. They come from the same place so their temperature and ph will be similar but these fish still share a predatory relationship. If you plan to keep them together, you will require a 29 gallon tank for a single angelfish or a 55 gallon tank for a proper school of 6 but any added Neons would most likely become food.
