  1. ENTERPRISE REFLECTIVE REPORT

  6. Introduction
  7.
  8. The primary objective of this report is to accurately describe the undergone process of conceptualizing, designing, constructing and finalizing of a software business and it's assistance in knowledge acquisition and character development in a team environment. The creation and management of our enterprise system helped each individual in understanding more about advanced computer technology used in the business sector. Economic principles, corporate practices and sales techniques were acquired by each team member. This project helped us solidify our knowledge about team dynamics and motivated us to explore the concepts of leadership and partnership.

  10.
  11. Team Dynamics
  12.
  13. The group consisted of five computer scientists, some of which were also knowledgeable on financial subjects such as economics and management. The group environment was represented firstly by two people who design and conceptualize prototypes such as software outlook and website outlook. Secondly, two people who also worked on the theoretical and also hypothetical fragments such as user cases, scenarios, happy canvases and possible outcomes. Lastly, we had one person who would collect all of our delivered content throughout the different assessments creating a report and would finalize our product.
  14.
  15. It is important to point out the obvious differences that arose in the early stages of the development of the idea that were evidently cleared after a number of team meetings. This number of small issues came to our knowledge around the time after team formations were announced in the beginning of the term.
  16.
  17. We had one team leader and one deputy team leader with the latter role being represented by me. The brief explanation of our tasks were to organize and manage the team as there were times when people were sick, could not attend or were in their home countries because of a sudden arrival of a extraordinary circumstance that disturbed the team work of probably every group.
  18.
  19. The team leader would often notice shortcomings of the team such as how some members are really active and others were not.
  20.
  21. One possible reason for the above-mentioned issue could have probably been the difference in background. The anxiety of expressing your opinion in a newly found group setting may have played a role as well.
  22.
  23. As the group got to know each other, the levels of participation of each team member increased which then resulted in increasing the effectiveness of team meetings.
  24.
  25. It is also important to outline why better communication resulted in stronger collaboration and better results. The main task that we used to do around the first few meetings was to brainstorm ideas. As we started having more meetings, we started putting our thoughts on paper, researching more about certain topics at home and writing more ideas down with the new knowledge we had gained.

  28. My Views on Human Centered Design and Service Design
  29.
  30. I find it essential to mention that some of us have had an upbringing in a family of economists. Nevertheless, it is because of the accessible enterprise course that my enterprise knowledge has been enhanced. As a software engineer, I have introduced myself to the fact that what you are building needs to be focused upon the people, the potential customers and user base of any software project.
  31.
  32. The topic of User Experience Design and User Interface Design has appeared a large number of times in our undergraduate studies. These topics are vital and their first appearance is the actual presentation of why the connection between a company and their future customers is something significant in every business. After researching more about UI and UX, I have personally stumbled upon human centered design and service design. I have agreed with them on the subject that while building a service, one must focus not only on the people but also on finding the right problem that the service will resolve. I have agreed to disagree with them on topics such as finding investors for a business with no track records of sales would be a fast task. While it is true that we have used use cases and evaluation scenarios, something that I found very interesting and new to me was the concept of empathy maps(reference 1).
  33.
  34. I need to once again note that even though the concepts of human centered design and service design were not entirely new to me, the information stored in the lectures and the thorough research that me and my team have conducted throughout the course timeline helped solidify facts and create additions about the above-mentioned topic and reinforced my previous perspective on the subject.

  38. If I Did This Again
  39.
  40. I found the teamwork to be elevating and exhilarating but it is actually the first time that it changed my perspective of group roles. What was new for me is that I was assigned the deputy team leader status. I was unaware of what I was supposed to do as I have not previously been assigned any roles and most of the projects I have worked on consisted of everyone contributing equally and on time without the need of extra management practices.
  41.
  42. It was a different experience for me this time due to the amount of contribution I think I successfully am responsible for. I contributed to the organization of some of the meetings and events my group had to go through. I was involved in scheduling talks with prospective stakeholders and managers. I also tried contacting CEOs of relevant companies to ask for their perspective on our enterprise idea. The task of visiting establishments and presenting the group idea as a proposal is also something that I took part in with the team leader.
  43.
  44. Something that also needs to be said about the deputy leadership experience is obtaining the skill of working under pressure. I had to co-write emails and was involved in taking the team leader role when circumstances made the actual team leader unavailable to attend our group workshops. It was a significant learning experience as I had the opportunity to overcome the anxiety of taking the chief executive role. I was not initially positively predisposed to the prospect but am now confident in my ability of being a team leader.
  45.
  46. This has rapidly changed my worldview and has made me explore books and workshops on leadership, assertiveness and management. With everything that I previously said, it would be my goal to manage more groups and to undertake the team leader responsibility and title in my future work and career.
  47.
  48. My Opinion and Conclusion
  49.
  50. It is my firm belief in the fact that the enterprise course has contributed differently for each individual but it is my powerful opinion that it personally helped expand my enterprise knowledge with additions such as business practices, investment and return of investment, thorough understanding of service design and human centered design and more economic principles. The knowledge I acquired is invaluable as it is responsible for personal character development contribution. The position I was introduced to and exposed to changed my way of thinking when it comes to teams as a unit and made me explore leadership and team development. My whole image of teamwork and the different roles a team consists of is now filled with more assertive and creative ideas.
  51.
  52. The evident conclusion to be drawn is that each and everyone of us was presented the opportunity to undergo massive improvement in the field of business and computer science in theory and in practice. We were successfully able to go through all stages of the manufacturing process and are happy to have delivered the final conceptual result.
