  1. As a young woman, Merida de' Lune had mainly a "double life" throughout her youth. She did grow up in Britain where she had parents who told her time and time again that having two jobs would make her as successful as a person with one job with a result of a lot of money. Although Merida preferred having only one job, she responded with "I'll give this a shot."

  3. She first started working in her parents' family cafe when she was fourteen and at the same time, was homeschooled by her mother. She thought her life was going well, except when her father found a school in Arcadia Bay, Oregon which did seem like a good fit for his daughter. "Honey, are you sure you want to place her in a school like that? She's been homeschooled all her life." Her mother said, with a concerned look on her face. She knew that moving into America would be a tough choice, but Merida did look at the school in the laptop and she did admire the swimming pool and the campus ground. "Mother, I think the school does look grand. I never had an experience interacting with actual people my age before. Well, except for a couple of customers, but, I have to admit, this sounds like a good experience I want to do and I want to go!" Merida's mother did get a little nervous, but realized that her trying out an American school would be a new but, hopefully a good experience. "Well, if that's what you wish. Then, I suppose we could try." She said, with a sigh coming out of her mouth.

  5. Merida, heading that her mother would let her go to this school, squealed and gave a hug. "Thank you, mom." She said, and excitedly began to pack. Several months later, the family was ready to leave the country and go to America for the first time. This was permanent, them becoming American citizens. They did have to go through many processes to earn their citizenship licenses in applications, biometric examinations, and even meeting the qualifications of becoming citizens. Merida luckily had friends on the internet who were American so, they did help her with filling out the papers and this took a long time to do.

  7. Once they got to America a year later, Merida felt as though she did feel at home. She did like the area and though that the people were nice. Although the girls did look at her funny due to her hair, she did try to smile back. Her and her mother did go clothing shopping for her first semester at the school. She thought the dresses were much different than the ones she grew up with in Britain, but, felt as though the outfits would be a good change. "This is better than expected." She said to herself when trying them on.

  9. After buying her outfits, she then got some scones and some tea at a love cafe near the area and thought that the food tasted a bit weird, compared to British desserts, but she had to get used to the changes. She did become a little nervous about going to the school for the first time but, knew that it would be successful. She sighed as she was eating. "Something wrong?" Merida's mother asked as she looked up at her daughter. "Just a little nervous, that's all, mother." The red-haired young woman replied as she ate. "You'll be fine, besides, you seemed so excited before we left." Merida did sigh, and did remember being happy once she saw the school for the first time. "Yeah, I never been in a giant school before. You've been homeschooling me since I was a tiny girl. What if she new kids do not like me?" While Merida was speaking out her feelings, she felt her face sweating with nervousness. Merida's mother looked up at her with a smile. "You'll be fine. Just be yourself." She responded, with a small smile.

  11. Her freshman year at Blackwell Academy did bring a lot of changes in her life. An example would be her orientation; She did have a couple of crushes on her female classmates and eventually came out to her parents as being a lesbian, and her parents did accept it. She did get a job around the same time she did her schooling and it was at the "Two Whales Diner." Although the double life was tough, due to her getting more work than usual, she felt as though she could handle it.
  12.
  13. When working at the diner, she did hear many arguments between the customers and Joyce but, tried to ignore it from time to time. She also seen posters in the place regarding a missing young woman named Rachel Amber and she did remember her sparingly, but felt bad that a school girl like her would be in a dangerous situation. She did hope that the girl would be able to return home again with her family. Joyce, her boss was actually nice to her and also gave her support. Although the breakfast hours were a bit tough on the weekends, she at least tried to get her homework done in the afternoon and during her breaks.

  15. Her dorm life was mainly the newest experience she ever had to face. Her being with a roommate took a while to get used to but, her roommate was luckily nice and showed her around the campus. So, overall although Merida was nervous in the beginning but yet excited, the move from Britain to America was not that bad, after all, a change could be good for the better. She did have hope that her job will continue to do well since she liked it, a lot. Her double life was not as bad since she had a similar style in her home country but, in America, she would have more challenges, but in the end, the opportunity to do well.
