  1. S:U never learned properly in the first place
  2. Everytime I get her to do fighting game stuff
  3. Shes rly stubborn st first and is just like
  4. I know what to do
  5. And I'm like yea but just cuz u know doesnt mean u can do it...
  6. So then we talked about internalizing, discipline, getting your brain and hands to work together, making sure you actually do what your brain knows
  7.
  8. C:
  9. whenever i think i have internalized something i apparently didn't
  10. it's very annoying
  11.
  12. S:
  13. Yea
  14. I think it just shows
  15. Its a long ingrained problem
  16. So you've lost all sense of how to assess it
  17. But
  18. If u just start over
  19. It wont be hard to fix
  20. U just need to start like you're completely new/know nothing
  21.
  22. C:
  23. well
  24. i internalized peach stuff properly
  25. and puff and marth stuff
  26. =_=
  27. also that's not helpful because it doesn't actually give me a good heuristic/sense of when i can stop working on internalizing. a complete beginner is able to trust that he internalized it completely when he can do it on the homework and the tests
  28.
  29. S:
  30. That's also not true tho
  31. You havent internalized marth or puff imo
  32. Peach is the only one I think if i ever randomly play you,i can expect you to be pretty consistent at what you know
  33.
  34. C:
  35. well ok, taking 10 friendlies to remember what to do
  36. is not internalized
  37.
  38. S:
  39. Yea
  40. Exactly
  41. If u go to a tourney
  42. And lose to a peach
  43. Usually I can be like
  44. Okay so u played bad or hes better than u but that's on you
  45. I'm not like
  46. Utterly confused at why u couldnt beat something simple
  47.
  48. C:
  49. i mean maybe my standard for assessment is off
  50. i probably actually do get distracted too easily when i'm playing cuz i notice tons of new things i'm losing to and try to fix instead of just working on the things i'm working on
  51.
  52. S:
  53. I think you're probably
  54. Too quick to reward yourself tbh
  55. And then ironically also hard on yourself in unproductive ways
  56. Like it's great to be like "I did it" when u do it
  57. But then its like
  58. "Okay time to keep doing it"
  59. Doesnt always happen for u
  60.
  61. C:
  62. i feel like i've been trying to do the second part recently
  63. but maybe not
  64.
  65. S:
  66. Yea I believe u
  67. I just am talking about what I've noticed irl before
  68. yeah i agree
  69. Like you need to take all the I did it moments and make them standard cuz like
  70. You wouldnt notice that you did it
  71. If it was common
  72. But instead since it's not common for u,each success stands out
  73. Which is fine for new things
  74. But then they have to become standardized
  75.
  76. C:
  77. i don't even disagree w any of this but the real question is how do i actually create a process that allows me to not only consistently internalize
  78. but also gets me away from being retarded
  79. i mean the other thing i will say is that i think my standard for evaluation in terms of games/sets is bad
  80. like, my goal for every set should just be to be able to do what i know/have practiced, with winning as a secondary thing
  81.
  82. S:
  83. yea i agree
  84.
  85. C:
  86. how do i put it
  87.
  88. level 0: win or lose, don't know why, can't execute
  89. level 1: win or lose, don't know why, can't execute consistently
  90. level 2: win or lose, don't know why, can execute
  91. level 3: win or lose, know why, can execute
  92. nvm that's useless model
  93. just to say that my discipline in tourney is just as bad as my discipline in friendlies because my evaluation is based too much on assessing exactly what's happening
  94. including situations that i'm unfamiliar with
  95. and not "can i recognize situations that i know and can i execute on them"
