  1. Empathy frequently had an impact on my professional life as a technical instructor when I was put in situations where students didn't understand concepts. Trying to reframe and analogize explanations about how a computer system compensates ballistic solutions for a moving platform to students is definitely an activity in active listening, despite being the presenter. I believe this skill will be invaluable on a software development team since teammates often don't take similar approaches to problems and explanations, along with some give and take for understanding and new ideas, will be crucial for a harmonious development environment. I find it most difficult when I feel I've given several analogies and different explanations or asked several questions without understanding, but I have usually solved this by breaking off from the larger group with individuals and really trying to eke out where exactly the understanding disconnect lies from that individual whether they or I are the presenter of information. I feel that I could improve on not showing my frustrations physically in my face and body language as well as the way that I speak, instead trying to present that I didn't understand or that I am trying to reach understanding in the group.
