  1. RosenkrantzGM You are summoned from your various quarters and stations one by one, the group and its escort growing in number with every stop.
  2. RosenkrantzGM You are escorted to the Ship’s Palace, to the Lord-Captain’s quarters, you are informed.
  3. RosenkrantzGM You walk past the gilded doors to the Trophy Room, where the Dynasty’s proud treasures are held, past the long corridor that leads to the Librarium Vaults, and into the Luxury Passenger Quarters - the entire “Palace” really does feel like such. The air is especially well-filtered, something you notice every time you make your way from your quarters to the bridge, and the soft sweet smell of the burning oils of the chandeliers and the light which they give as they burn, makes it a very pleasant segment of the ship indeed.
  4. RosenkrantzGM The two main wings of the quarters then give to an open inner garden, where a few of you have spent many hours especially in company to Lord Heinrich or the Head of the Dynasty. You have time, and the concentration to notice how beautiful it all really is, and to realize how far behind your first impression of the place actually feels. But today, with the emptiness in which you find them, the only company being your escort and the echoing footsteps of your group, a small sense of that awe returns.
  5. RosenkrantzGM At the end of the gardens, you reach the Lord-Captain’s quarters. Just outside, an outpost of the House Guard stands vigilant.
  6. RosenkrantzGM “Lord Protector!” the ranking guard calls, prompting salutes from the rest. They allow you through, and soon you find yourself in the lobby of Wilhelm’s Quarters.
  7. RosenkrantzGM There, several instruments adorn one corner of the chamber, various parchments scattered across the floor.
  8. RosenkrantzGM Immediately across the room from there, a large hexagonal table of robust darkened wood is itself similarly ‘adorned’ in the style of one concerned with pragmatism above even personal organization - copies of the Grandier charts, remembrancer’s interpretations of the Gillam star (rather beautiful sketches, in fact), and several tomes on the Rogue Trader families operating in the Koronus expanse.
  9. Lucrezia wanders a bit apart from the group in order to give some of the items a closer look.
  10. RosenkrantzGM On the corner across that of the Lord-Captain’s instruments is a rather more neat (on account of the lack of use, you figure) area with a table, atop of which are tea cups and plates, a small assortment of alcoholic beverages in their ornate bottles, a small ornate box with the Cog of the Omnissiah, and a bookmarked tome on the Segmentum Solar’s “Saints and Heroes”; several comfortable chairs are placed around the low leisure table.
  11. Baine_Mort wanders over to get a closer look at some of the instruments.
  12. Makh_Chomun stands over the pile of remembrancer sketches, sifting through them very carefully.
  13. RosenkrantzGM The tomes are opened or bookmarked to various pages. Most seem to track the Wan Fallaset line, and its history.
  14. Neue-Ziel looks at the ornate box and is surprised the Lord-Captain kept it.
  15. RosenkrantzGM The Lord-Captain's /forte/ - a large keyboard instrument of a warm, clean sound, is covered in various musical parchments. Some appear to even be originals, or at a minimum, corrections and edits to existing pieces.
  16. Lucrezia tilts her head somewhat to read some of the more recent bookmarks.
  17. RosenkrantzGM On the final corner, are the double doors opening towards the small walkway that leads to the Lord-Captain’s personal chambers.
  18. RosenkrantzGM “Make… make yourselves comfortable!” he calls from beyond the walkway doors.
  19. Caerwyn_Beraht shuffles in, his billowing robes of office swaying at his feet. He gives the room a cursory glance, brow raised at the Lord Captain's apparent sense of taste when it comes to noble affects. His attention is mmediately drawn to the keyboard, and he slides onto the seat. He thumbs his way through some of the music sheets.
  20. Makh_Chomun helps himself to a glass of one of the decanters of alcohol, before taking a seat at the side of the table.
  21. Caerwyn_Beraht "Jeregard...Braum...Zartoz..." He mutters to himself, working his way through the different sheets. He snorts. "Infigo."
  22. Neue-Ziel takes a seat at the table.
  23. Baine_Mort finishes looking over one of the instruments and takes a seat at the table.
  24. Varenus_Grandier studies the various Grandier charts for the millionth time
  25. Lucrezia takes a seat, feeling somewhat nervous as to why they had been called here.
  26. RosenkrantzGM The bookmarks hold information catching the Lord-Captain's interest in the way Wan Fallaset has uselessly squandered resource in the past. He does, however, seem particularly interested in encounters recorded with little detail - in which his predecessor and Wan Fallaset are said to have participated in "joint ventures"... something that rings odd, given the Dynastic Ledgers utter lack of any such mention, even on the records extending back to the reign of Johannes.
  27. RosenkrantzGM The Grandier copies are fairly accurate. To the common Captain, they'd be perfect. To your eyes, however, they're filled with inaccuracies and false information.
  28. Neue-Ziel says to Lady Lucrezia [Rogue Cant] "Do you still have the device? The one off the prisoner?"
  29. Caerwyn_Beraht Over the din of the music, Caerwyn loudly queries those assembled: "Anybody know where our esteemed Lord Captain is? It would be a waste to sit around on such a fine evening." Sarcasm; how unbecoming of a priest.
  30. Makh_Chomun "He's currently in his quarters, Brother-Priest. Did you not hear him?"
  31. Lucrezia digs into one of her coat's pockets, producing the device shortly after. She then hands it over to Neue. "Haven't parted with it since we found it."
  32. RosenkrantzGM The hurried steps of a dynastic serf echo into the room, as the young man emerges, gives you a quick bow, and rushes to the opposite side of the chamber, to the Confessor playing on the forte.
  33. Caerwyn_Beraht "Nay", Caerwyn replies, laying hsi fingers off the keys. "I could scarcely hear a thing over the mach-" Caerwyn stops to look at the young man. "Speak."
  34. RosenkrantzGM He mouths an apologetic, "excuse me", and collects the Lord-Captain's boots left by the side of the singing instrument.
  35. Caerwyn_Beraht squeaks and moves out of the way. "O-oh."
  36. Neue-Ziel uses a napkin off the table and grabs the device. He starts to examine it with anticipation.
  37. RosenkrantzGM He gives the confessor a bow, and rushes to his Master's chambers as quickly as he emerged.
  38. Makh_Chomun continues to sip at his glass. "Careful you don't fry yourself, Ziel."
  39. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "I think I can manage, Lord Chomun."
  40. Makh_Chomun shrugs at that.
  41. Caerwyn_Beraht rises from his seat and takes his seat at the table. "Master Chomun, would you be a sterling gentleman and pour me a glass as well?"
  42. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "The nobility title suits you."
  43. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] "Suits me? I'm still not even used to thinking that I'm of Noble....stature?"
  44. Makh_Chomun "Getting a taste for the amasec, eh?" Makh comments before pouring another glass and setting it at the priests front.
  45. Caerwyn_Beraht accepts it with a flourish. "Many thanks. Can you gentlemen refrain from speaking a tongue not every man in the room is skilled in? Thank you."
  46. Baine_Mort [Rogue Cant] "It may take me some time to get use to hearing you called that Chomun."
  47. Caerwyn_Beraht leans back in his chair, taking sips from his amasec and looking a little sour.
  48. Varenus_Grandier [Rogue Cant]"seems the priest doesn't know everything."
  49. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "*sighs* I have no knowledge of this device. I will need some time in the librarium to figure it out."
  50. Baine_Mort [Rogue Cant] "Seems like it, I think we should begin our plans to take him on another space ride then."
  51. Makh_Chomun Makh laughs as the man's face turns sour. "You'll have time to develop some taste, brother. I thought you were a master of languages?"
  52. RosenkrantzGM You hear the footsteps of heavy boots approach from the corridor.
  53. Neue-Ziel carefully folds the napkin on device and places it in his robes.
  54. Lucrezia turns towards the corridor, standing up as she did.
  55. Varenus_Grandier turns to the corridor e
  56. RosenkrantzGM “He killed himself,” Wilhelm announces as he walks in, fastening buttons on his jacket.
  57. RosenkrantzGM He looks up at you, a half smile on his face, raised eyebrows.
  58. Caerwyn_Beraht opens his mouth, an indignant reply locked and loaded, but the approaching footsteps causes him to relent. He sinks further into his seat, proper posture be damned.
  59. Baine_Mort "Who died my Lord Captain?" as he turns to look at Wilhelm.
  60. Lucrezia "My Lord, there are a lot of people aboard your vessel. A bit more elaboration might be appreciated."
  61. RosenkrantzGM He paces towards the tea table, and sets aside a glass. “Nearly had him...” he shakes his head.
  62. Makh_Chomun "He? The Prisoner?" Makh asks, after turning to the Lord-Captain and bowing slightly.
  63. RosenkrantzGM He pours the contents of one of the ornate crystalline bottles into the glass.
  64. Caerwyn_Beraht shudders. He makes the sign of the Aquila. "Morimurian te solumus Deum Imperator. If it is the prisoner you speak of, the laxity of his guard must be punished."
  65. Lucrezia "Oh... our Saboteur... damn shame that. Had some questions for him..."
  66. RosenkrantzGM “He got desperate. Made a mistake. I had the gun compartment sealed and ordered the decompression alarms be activated..." he motions with his hands.
  67. RosenkrantzGM "He detonated charges to blast through a maintenance hatch… he didn’t get far. Before he could be subdued, he…” Wilhelm raises his glass above his chest, and with an extended finger, traces a line across his neck.
  68. RosenkrantzGM He takes a seat. “Just like that... bled out faster than we could get medicae to respond,” he takes a sip.
  69. Neue-Ziel "At least we still have the other."
  70. Makh_Chomun "Ah my mistake, our other saboteur."
  71. Caerwyn_Beraht blinks. "O-oh. I understand now. Damnation, too many saboteurs on this God-Emperor forsaken ship...all the same, his death was a righteous one. May he stir the warp forever."
  72. Baine_Mort "So that makes a total of three saboeur, how many more could there be on board?"
  73. Lucrezia "Well, we brought at least one ourselves. In chains, mind."
  74. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm nods, and points vaguely in the direction of the Brig. "And it is he who can give us the answer."
  75. Varenus_Grandier "He seems smart enough to talk, he knows he can barter for his life."
  76. Lucrezia "I actually believe he wanted to talk with you, milord."
  77. Makh_Chomun "Will we give him, his life?" Asks in curiosity. "He is quite skilled."
  78. Lucrezia "When we brought him in he said something of the sort, if memory serves."
  79. Lucrezia "When we brought him in he said something of the sort, if memory serves."
  80. Caerwyn_Beraht "Yes. I suspect he won't be pliable until he has an audience with you, Lord-Captain. The braggart is stubborn, I'll give him that."
  81. Neue-Ziel "A shock collar could change that."
  82. Makh_Chomun "There's an idea."
  83. Lucrezia "Not yet, I think."
  84. Lucrezia "He was willing to talk before. Maybe he still is?"
  85. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm downs the rest of his drink.
  86. Caerwyn_Beraht shrugs. He turns to his captain, awaiting to hear his thoughts on the matter.
  87. RosenkrantzGM "Did he identify me by name?"
  88. Makh_Chomun "He just referred to you as our boss."
  89. RosenkrantzGM "And you think I should indulge him with an audience? You truly believe he'll be more cooperative?"
  90. Neue-Ziel "It's possible, my Lord-Captain."
  91. Makh_Chomun "Indeed, I would also think you'd want to look the bastard in the eye for damaging your ship."
  92. RosenkrantzGM "Very well. Lord Beraht, I'm told you can communicate in their cant?"
  93. Caerwyn_Beraht "Yes m'lord....with effort."
  94. RosenkrantzGM "Then it appears we will all be paying him a visit," he places his glass upside down at the center of the table, and rises to his feet.
  95. Makh_Chomun finishes his own drink and stands as well.
  96. Lucrezia "Certainly. I'm rather curious about their plans."
  97. Caerwyn_Beraht takes one last sip before gently laying his glass on a coaster. He rsies to his feet, his robe dancing about. "Right then. Lead the way."
  98. RosenkrantzGM "And, Caerwyn? I would enjoy your company in the future. I wasn't aware you played," he comments with a smile.
  99. Caerwyn_Beraht smiles and nervously twists his feet. "Yes Lord-Captain, althought my skills are frightfully inadqeuate, I'm afraid."
  100. RosenkrantzGM "We'll work on it, my boy!" he calls as he exits towards the gardens.
  101. Neue-Ziel stands up and follows the Lord-Captain.
  102. Baine_Mort stands and follows
  103. Makh_Chomun calls up an escort over his commbead as he follows along.
  104. Caerwyn_Beraht follows, the shadow of a smile stretching across his face. He makes sure to lag back, brining up the rear.
  105. Lucrezia follows the group, whispering to Caerwyn as she moves past him. "Good job."
  106. Caerwyn_Beraht turns red, and mouths a "thank you" to the seneschal.
  107. RosenkrantzGM You are taken to a Palace levatus, which takes you to the lower compartments.
  108. RosenkrantzGM The brig does not connect directly to any levatus, so you take a small shuttling cart to cross the kilometer or so along the deck's length to the dark, uncomfortable compartment.
  109. RosenkrantzGM Here, security is provided by armsmen, and Bosun's Mates.
  110. RosenkrantzGM The corridors are cramped, and the atmospherics are significantly worse than the quality of air you are normally used to.
  111. RosenkrantzGM By the look and bodylanguage on the attending correctional guards, it is a rare thing for the Lord-Captain and his advisers to be seen down here.
  112. Lucrezia keeps her hand not far from her revolver as they walk through the halls of the brig.
  113. RosenkrantzGM "Major, I wish to interrogate the saboteur," Wilhelm instructs the brig's Watch Officer.
  114. Makh_Chomun makes a note to visit the brig more often.
  115. Caerwyn_Beraht starts to cough, wretching and bending over. The foul air vaguley tastes of oil and sweat...its malodorous boquet is far too much for the poor priest to handle.
  116. RosenkrantzGM "Yes, my Lord, I will lead you to--" he is stopped by the Lord-Captain mid sentence with a raised hand.
  117. RosenkrantzGM "What, praytell, is that noise?" he inquires, eyebrow raised high.
  118. RosenkrantzGM You hear it, too... laughter.
  119. RosenkrantzGM Laughter, and grunting, and stomping on the deckplates.
  120. Makh_Chomun tilts his head towards the laughter.
  121. Lucrezia quickly draws her sidearm and looks around for a source.
  122. RosenkrantzGM "My Lord... my Lord, we... weren't expecting you," the Watch Officer searches for an appropriate response. You notice that he shoots a glance at one of the guards, who hurries in the direction of the noise.
  123. RosenkrantzGM "My Lord, if you please, the saboteur is just in this direction," he attempts to coax an immobile Wilhelm, who doesn't break eye-contact with him.
  124. Caerwyn_Beraht stirs from his coughing fit, his eyes flitting about.
  125. Lucrezia "What was that laughter about?"
  126. RosenkrantzGM The Major simply apologizes, and repeats that he would have made things more "presentable" had he known you were arriving.
  127. Makh_Chomun "That is no excuse, Major." Chastises the man.
  128. RosenkrantzGM Suddenly, the cheering and laughing stops.
  129. Makh_Chomun "Lord-Captain we have more pressing matters to attend to, I'll be sure to straighten up these men after we've seen to business. As you will."
  130. Lucrezia "Major, could you direct us to the source of those sounds? They feel familiar somehow."
  131. Caerwyn_Beraht "Can we shake the logy from our bodies and scurry forth? This rank air is bad for my lungs and my complexion!"
  132. Varenus_Grandier "I'm very curious about the ruckus we heard. May I investigate?"
  133. Caerwyn_Beraht begins wringing his hands, as if the odious oxygen in the air stained his very skin.
  134. Baine_Mort "I don't think splitting up is the best idea at the moment."
  135. RosenkrantzGM "I, too, am intrigued to know why an officer aboard my ship would refuse to give a direct answer. Major, take us to the source of this indiscipline," Wilhelm commands.
  136. RosenkrantzGM "Aye, sir," the officer reluctantly replies.
  137. Caerwyn_Beraht loudly sighs and joins his captain in attending to this distraction.
  138. Neue-Ziel grabs onto his chainsword and is visibly annoyed at this detour.
  139. RosenkrantzGM He takes you down a narrow corridor, where the air becomes yet thicker with the smoke of lho-sticks and the awful aroma of sweat and blood.
  140. Caerwyn_Beraht "Damnation...I should have brought a respirator! This air quality is...it's repugnant! Criminal!"
  141. Lucrezia "Criminal? What do you think a brig is for, Caerwyn?"
  142. Makh_Chomun rubs his nose, obviously wanting to deal with this in his own time.
  143. RosenkrantzGM He stops and knocks twice on a set of closed double doors. One the inside, you hear the hurried steps of what must be several dozen men.
  144. Varenus_Grandier "Caerwyn, does the Emperor condone this much complaining?"
  145. RosenkrantzGM The doors open up, and the thick, musky, hot source of the stench assaults your senses. Inside, the chamber is spacious, with two levels of floors. Makeshift lighting illuminates the center of the lower level.
  146. Caerwyn_Beraht wrinkles his nose and blushes, crushed by Lucrezia's common sense. He turns to Varenus to level some witty rejoinded but closes his mouth, defeated.
  147. RosenkrantzGM Directly on the other end of the room, in front of the entrance you have taken, is a board marking bets in both Dawns and Thrones Gelt.
  148. RosenkrantzGM Bosun's Mates, Armsmen, and even junior officers are out of uniform. Emptied bottles of cheap amasec littered throughout the room, lho-sticks still glowing.
  149. Varenus_Grandier clears his throat loudly
  150. RosenkrantzGM In the center are badly bloodied prisoners. On opposite sides, two groups are chained in a line, "teams" you realize by the betting categories.
  151. Lucrezia walks in and slowly claps. "Well, well, well. And what do we have here?"
  152. RosenkrantzGM If the lighting were better, you'd see the blood flush from the faces of every man in the room at the sight of your entry.
  153. Caerwyn_Beraht gasps. "Is this...are they fencing?"
  154. Baine_Mort "Seems that we have caught some of our men with there pants down."
  155. Makh_Chomun keeps his own council as he drinks in the scene, memories of what he was before flashing back to him instantly. It almost felt nostalgic, if the memories weren't mired with so much death and beatings.
  156. Neue-Ziel "Mr. Mort, phasing."
  157. Makh_Chomun "Fencing? No...no this is much more base. It almost feels like my youth." Makh says to the priest.
  158. Caerwyn_Beraht "Ah." The stark realization of what's going on hits the young man. "Aaaaaah."
  159. Baine_Mort "Seems you figured it out." Baine says to Caerwyn.
  160. RosenkrantzGM "Master-At-Arms. Arrest Major Zhofrin," Wilhelm commands without conveying any sort of emotion.
  161. Lucrezia "It feels like illegal gambling and mishandling of the prisoners! Or does anyone have a better explanation?" She asks, clearly angered at the scene. She then moves to an improvised table and picks a half finished bottle of underground amasec, trying to get the smell of it.
  162. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "The machine spirit is not happy with these poorly manufactured light constructs."
  163. Makh_Chomun nods solemnly and takes the Major by force. Bending one of his arms behind his back and making him kneel. He then gestures to one of the armsmen for some shackles or the equivalent.
  164. RosenkrantzGM An armsman approaches, holding manacles.
  165. Makh_Chomun takes the manacles and claps the officer in irons. "You are to take the Major to solitary confinement. He is not, /not/, to be released without my or the Lord-Captain's leave. Is this clear?"
  166. RosenkrantzGM "Aye, sir." he acknowledges with a quick nod.
  167. Varenus_Grandier "What about the rest of them?"
  168. Lucrezia "Half rations, I'd say is a good start.
  169. Lucrezia "
  170. Makh_Chomun "We'll deal with the rest of them later, for now they shall put the prisoners back where they belong and clean the place up."
  171. Baine_Mort "I would say have them scrub this place clean with a tiny brush."
  172. Makh_Chomun "Or I will at any rate." Makh says absentmindedly.
  173. RosenkrantzGM "Lord Chomun, arrange for Defaulters at First Watch. 75 lashes."
  174. Neue-Ziel "That would take ages, converting them into cleaning servitors would be more effective.."
  175. Caerwyn_Beraht clasps his hands in prayer as the officer passes, no doubt beseeching the Emperor to punish the man for the unforgivable crime of giving his commanding officer short shrift.
  176. Makh_Chomun "As you will, m'lord."
  177. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm then leans in to Makh's ear, "Inform the Chief Bosun of half-rations and double watches for the lot of them."
  178. Makh_Chomun nods.
  179. Lucrezia approaches the prisoners that were fighting. "You two. You signed up for this or were you forced to do it? I want the truth here."
  180. RosenkrantzGM "Now... where is my saboteur?"
  181. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm stops, and turns. Actually curious.
  182. RosenkrantzGM The prisoners remain silent, looking up at their guards.
  183. Makh_Chomun has quick quiet chat with the Chief Bosun over a secure channel about the punishments.
  184. RosenkrantzGM "Answer the Lady," Wilhelm commands.
  185. RosenkrantzGM "W-we were forced, mi'lord. 'Punishment' they said, for a small squabble earlier."
  186. Makh_Chomun "Sounds about right."
  187. RosenkrantzGM "You agree, Lord Chomun, with this form of discipline?" Wilhelm inquires.
  188. Lucrezia gives a small nod of aknowledgement. "I see. Thank you, Mister...?"
  189. RosenkrantzGM "Ricketts, milady," he lowers his head.
  190. Makh_Chomun "Agree? I was simply commenting on why they made them do it. It's the same way they treated prisoners and fighters when I was younger."
  191. Makh_Chomun "Pit-fighting is something you can usually find in all establishments of the Imperium, but this, this is a shadow of that, a mockery."
  192. Lucrezia "Alright, I'll have the medicae look you and your fellows over." With that, she turns and returns to the group.
  193. Makh_Chomun "This gives me an idea actually. I'll discuss it with you once we've dealt with all of this, if you'd like to hear it, Lord-Captain."
  194. Lucrezia uses her commbead to call some medicae down to the brig, wanting to make sure she stays true to her word. "Right, shall we move on to the saboteur issue?"
  195. RosenkrantzGM "Of course. I want the names of every man here-present logged and handed to the Chief-Bosun. And now, let's have a chat with our friend."
  196. Neue-Ziel "Agreed."
  197. RosenkrantzGM With the matter behind you, and the men being processed by other attending officers, you are escorted to an interrogation cell.
  198. RosenkrantzGM It is only because of your arrival that lights are turned on at all. Here, in this section of interrogation and solitary confinements cells, only the minimal of power is permitted to run.
  199. RosenkrantzGM The prisoner is blindfolded, manacles securing his wrists by maglock to the surface in front of him. The seat itself has a restraining belt around his waist, and his feet are secured by a similar mechanism to the deckplate below.
  200. RosenkrantzGM [Dynastic Cant] "Begin the interrogation. Do not inform him of my presence. Maintain the blindfold."
  201. Caerwyn_Beraht strides over to the prisoner, sprinkling holy water on his forehead, muttering "Nemo mendacium antem eum dixissenium."
  202. Baine_Mort watches from the hall
  203. Caerwyn_Beraht With that finished, Caerwyn takes position before the man sits across from him. "State your name."
  204. RosenkrantzGM He spits in the direction of the Confessor's voice.
  205. Caerwyn_Beraht flinches away. "None of that now, please. I mean thee no harm. I just want a term with which I can call you."
  206. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "This isn't a good start."
  207. RosenkrantzGM "Call me father, boy..." he replies with a smirk.
  208. Baine_Mort [Rogue Cant] "I would have to agree with you Ziel."
  209. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] Leave the Priest alone, let him work.
  210. Neue-Ziel passes Lord Chomun a shock collar.
  211. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm leans on the wall overlooking the table.
  212. Makh_Chomun takes the proffered shock collar.
  213. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "I don't doubt the boy's abilities, but the prisoner is being... aggressive."
  214. Caerwyn_Beraht "Fine, father it is. Your surly attitude seems to suggest to me that you think I aim to play games; I intend to do no such thing. I will be frank with you, amici mei: things do no look so good for you. As priest of His church, I am honor bound to look after your well being for you are His child and moulded in His form. Let me help you. I swear, upon the holy tracts of Interlocutus and the
  215. Caerwyn_Beraht various divine revelations of the God-Emperor, I can make this end well for everyone invovled. You just have to open up to me."
  216. Lucrezia balls her fist up somewhat but tries to look composed. [Rogue Cant] "Give him some time..."
  217. RosenkrantzGM "The man in a dress wishes to be my savior..." he mocks.
  218. Makh_Chomun motions for Caerwyn to tag out.
  219. Caerwyn_Beraht "Paenitetin me , filium mi. I did not want it to come to this." Caerwyn stands up and taps Makh on the shoulder.
  220. Makh_Chomun circles the prisoner until he's behind the prisoner. He then slips the shock collar on the man. He then whispers menacingly, "you remember my voice? I'm going to make your immediate future very unpleasant until you start to cooperate."
  221. RosenkrantzGM "The warrior..." he acknowledges you.
  222. Baine_Mort 0
  223. Makh_Chomun "Aye, now, what is your name?"
  224. RosenkrantzGM "Ekert. My name is Ekert."
  225. Caerwyn_Beraht looks on, arms folded, livid. Not only did he fail, but he allowed this lowly prisoner to refer to his holy vestement as a dress!
  226. Makh_Chomun "Very good, Ekert. This can be very simply for the both of us. Now what was your purpose on this ship?"
  227. RosenkrantzGM "Your boss."
  228. Makh_Chomun "Care to explain?"
  229. RosenkrantzGM "I say nothing. Your boss come here."
  230. Makh_Chomun shoots the Lord-Captain a quick look while he continues.
  231. Makh_Chomun "I'm afraid it isn't that simple, Ekert, why do you need to see him?"
  232. RosenkrantzGM "I negotiate freedom."
  233. Lucrezia leans towards Neue. "I think he might have an implant that will kill him if he talks." She whispers in the dynastic tongue.
  234. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "Lord Chomun, one moment."
  235. Makh_Chomun pauses, and then tags Caerwyn back in before approaching Ziel.
  236. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] "Yes?"
  237. Neue-Ziel walks towards the prisoner and starts to check the back of his head and neck.
  238. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm raises an eyebrow.
  239. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "Lady Lucerzia suspects a possible implant in our prisoner."
  240. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] "What kind of implant?"
  241. Caerwyn_Beraht walks over to the prisoner, a little frustrated with being out of the loop.
  242. Lucrezia [Rogue Cant] "The kind that might turn his brain into paste if he says the wrong thing. I suggest thorough auspex scanning and perhaps some surgery."
  243. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "Possibly a Volitor Implant, designed to kill or comatose a subject if they reveal sensitive information."
  244. Lucrezia motions for Caerwyn.
  245. Makh_Chomun [Rogue Cant] "Sounds like he's apart of some serious people here."
  246. Baine_Mort grabs Caerwyn and pulls him away from the prisoner.
  247. Makh_Chomun REDACTED BY ORDERS OF BIGG BOSS
  248. Caerwyn_Beraht "Now, Ekert...I'd rather you not go through an ordeal here. Let's dial the intesnity back, amici mi...What is the nature of your employment? Are you a part of a company? You are certainly very talented, I'm curious as to where you were educated. Say...are you from the schola on Filodentris? I had the pleasure to visit it once before and they had accents much like yours." Caerwyn continues
  249. Caerwyn_Beraht to run his mouth, maundering, trying to get the prisoner to engage with him in casual conversation.
  250. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "We should escort the prisoner to the medicae deck immediately."
  251. Neue-Ziel [Rogue Cant] "We should also stop the Priestboy's foolish quest."
  252. Baine_Mort [Rogue Cant] "I agree."
  253. Lucrezia rushes towards Caerwyn as she sees him speak and holds onto his shoulder tightly to get his attention. She then leans and whispers. "Stop talking to him. He has a failsafe."
  254. RosenkrantzGM "The prisoner goes nowhere," Wilhelm finally speaks.
  255. RosenkrantzGM "Caerwyn. With the necessary equipment, could you find and remove this... implant?"
  256. Caerwyn_Beraht coughs. "Easily."
  257. RosenkrantzGM "Boss..." the prisoner mutters.
  258. RosenkrantzGM "Ziel, call for the genetors to bring Lord Beraht the equipment he needs. Makh, Mr. Mort. Secure the prisoner flat on his back on the table."
  259. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm removes the blindfold from the prisoner.
  260. Makh_Chomun motions for Baine to help him.
  261. RosenkrantzGM "Lord-Captain, I've always preferred," Wilhelm mockingly replies.
  262. Baine_Mort nods and helps Chomun.
  263. Caerwyn_Beraht turns white. "HERE? We're doing it HERE? Lord Wilhelm, I beg of you, use reason! This place is unsanitary, dank, and dark...Gosh, the air itself would throw his humors off balance!"
  264. Neue-Ziel immediately calls the medicae deck and requests a group of genetors with an emergency surgery order at his location.
  265. RosenkrantzGM "Here. Equipment will be brought to you, and you will perform the necessary procedure," he commands.
  266. RosenkrantzGM The prisoner struggles.
  267. Caerwyn_Beraht demurs, becoming more animated. "Sir, this operationw ill be very...delicate. I urge you to reconsider."
  268. RosenkrantzGM The prisoner waits for the maglocks and strap to be set free, and overpowers his handlers, lunging at the Lord-Captain, tackling him to the ground.
  269. RosenkrantzGM "Get... this... FUCKING!... Animal off me!" Wilhelm's voice is consumed with anger.
  270. Makh_Chomun immediately lunges at the prisoner and wrenches him off of the Captain, throwing the prisoner on to his side. "Big mistake, Shchlag."
  271. Baine_Mort tackles the prisoner after he is pushed off of Wilhelm and is able to restrain him on the ground.
  272. Caerwyn_Beraht hugs one of the rooms walls, letting out a pithy curse because its filthy walls will no doubt stain his robe. better than getting in the way, though.
  273. Makh_Chomun helps the Captain up, and dusts him off.
  274. Neue-Ziel takes a syringe filled with Tranq and injects the prisoner with it.
  275. Makh_Chomun "My apologies m'lord, he is quite slippery."
  276. RosenkrantzGM "Damn well-trained these Fallaset dogs..." he comments.
  277. Makh_Chomun "Well Caerwyn, I don't think there's any room for argument, you'll have to do it here. See it as a test of your skills and faith."
  278. Baine_Mort keeps the prisoner pined to the ground as Ziel injects the prisoner.
  279. Neue-Ziel "Afterwards, let's take this vermin to the medicae deck and digest him."
  280. Varenus_Grandier "How may I be of assistance?"
  281. Makh_Chomun "Hmmm, perhaps if we use one of your servitors to restrain him as we move him?"
  282. Neue-Ziel "Agreed."
  283. Makh_Chomun "Some of the facilities on the medicae deck are comparable to this brig for locking him up. What say you, m'lord?"
  284. RosenkrantzGM "Fine, good. Take him to the appropriate facility." Wilhelm agrees, feeling a bump left on the back of his head.
  285. RosenkrantzGM "Fucking bleeding..." he hisses
  286. Lucrezia "Perhaps you should consider getting that checked as well. Infection and all that..."
  287. Lucrezia offers a small hankerchief to take the blood off.
  288. Caerwyn_Beraht "Lady Lucrezia is quite right, lord captain. Stand still and let me inspect you."
  289. Baine_Mort picks up the prisoner off from the floor and readies to take him to the medicae deck.
  290. RosenkrantzGM Wilhelm nods and takes a seat, lowering his head.
  291. Neue-Ziel using his vox implants commands a group of servitors to his location.
  292. RosenkrantzGM Servitors arrive, along with the genetors and their supplies.
  293. Caerwyn_Beraht tilts his captain's head. "Hmmm...looks good. let's go. I need to beseech the God-Emperor to watch over the procedure before I can begin in earnest."
  294. Neue-Ziel commands the Servitors to restrain the prisoner. He tells the genetors to check on the Lord-Captain.
  295. RosenkrantzGM "I'm fine, thank you," Wilhelm waves them away.
  296. Baine_Mort hands over the prisoner over to the servitors.
  297. Neue-Ziel [Techna-lingua] "There's a potential Volitor Implant on the prisoner. It has to be disabled or removed without damaging the subject."
  298. RosenkrantzGM =======15 minutes later======
  299. Neue-Ziel [Techna-lingua] "There's a potential Volitor Implant on the prisoner. It has to be disabled or removed without damaging the subject."
  300. RosenkrantzGM The medicae deck's facilities are made available to you, though security is kept tight around the immaculately kept facility.
  301. RosenkrantzGM The prisoner is secured to a table, restraints on his wrists and ankles.
  302. Caerwyn_Beraht arrives from the preperation room, smelling of his rose scented holy water. To his priestly attire he has added an apron, sanitation gloves, and a pair of magnifying spectacles. He smells the sweet, sanitary stink of the room and lays down his medkit. "All assembled: Begin the 4th cantillation of Saint Interlocutus."
  303. Baine_Mort stands near by, guarding the room.
  304. Caerwyn_Beraht takes out a vial of holy water from his medkit and begins to sprinkle it on the prisoner. "Vos autem non obstaretem. Qui enimin in terra agimusan liberabit vost. Ave Imperator."
  305. RosenkrantzGM "Ave Imperator," medicae staff echo
  306. Caerwyn_Beraht locks his magnifacation spectacles into place and looks at the thin dotted circle at the back of the man's skull. "Nurse, prepare the holy bone-piercer. I am making the incision now."
  307. Caerwyn_Beraht And with that, Caerwyn begins his operation. He gets into the mans's skull, cantillating silently, the rythm of his prayer keeping his concetration focused. The beads of sweat developing on his forehead are dutifully wiped away by his attendants. It takes hours to carefully navigate around the thin vessels of blood, nerve endings, and other architecture of the brain; even the smallest
  308. Caerwyn_Beraht mistake can mean the death of the man beneath the knife. "Tweezers!" Caerwyn announces, taking the tool from the waiting appendage of the medicae servitor. With a slow, firm movement the tool divies into the mans' skull and reaches for the tiny charge inside. "Beginning extraction... Neue, this is a live charge. Prepare the techno-rites to diffuse it."
  309. Neue-Ziel is praying in the same room while Priestboy is playing doctor.
  310. Caerwyn_Beraht slowly teases the thing out, maneuvering it around the blood vessels. With a great bloody welt, the thing frees itself from the man's skull. Caerwyn places the charge on a nearby tray.
  311. Neue-Ziel Ziel approaches the tray.
  312. Caerwyn_Beraht breathes a sigh of relief. "I am going to close him up now. Barring fickle fortune, we're home free now."
  313. Neue-Ziel disables the charges on the tray.
  314. Neue-Ziel "Thus do we invoke the Machine God. Thus do we make whole that which was sundered."
  315. Caerwyn_Beraht finishes the slow, arduous process of closing the man's head. His onerous duty discharged, he slumps, thrwoing the bloody gloves and apron aside. "Capital, tech-boffin! Capital!"
  316. Caerwyn_Beraht "The procedure", he announces, "was a smashing sucess."
  317. Caerwyn_Beraht "Now, the man needs several days of bed rest to recover."
  318. RosenkrantzGM "Excellent work, young Caerwyn," Wilhelm commends the Confessor.
  319. Neue-Ziel says to one of the genetors [Techna-lingua] "Send what remains of the implants to my office."
  320. RosenkrantzGM A round-the-clock watch is set up in the recovery area, and all medicae personnel are accompanied by a guard when attending to the saboteur.
  321. RosenkrantzGM The day comes to a close as Third Watch passes you by.
  322. RosenkrantzGM As First Watch is called, an announcement for Senior Officers to report to the barracks mustering/training grounds is sounded. Wilhelm attends this event himself.
  323. RosenkrantzGM Major Zhofrin is made to stand before his peers, while the charges against him are read aloud.
  324. RosenkrantzGM The Chief Bosun then orders his punishment to commence.
  325. Makh_Chomun stands off behind the Lord-Captain, at his rightful place.
  326. RosenkrantzGM Zhofrin's tunic is removed, his upper body exposed, his hands shackled in front of him.
  327. Baine_Mort stands off to the side of Chomun.
  328. Caerwyn_Beraht is in full regalia, standing beside his lord captain. In his hands in the first tract of Interlocutus.
  329. RosenkrantzGM The Lord-Captain stands firm, in his Admiral's uniform, overseeing the proceedings from an observation platform above the training grounds.
  330. RosenkrantzGM The Chief Bosun prepares the instrument of punishment, loudly cracking it in the air.
  331. RosenkrantzGM He looks up to the stand at the Lord-Captain and his retinue, as per custom, from where the final go-ahead must be given... or clemency granted.
  332. Makh_Chomun "Begin!" Makh shouts down to the Chief Bosun.
  333. RosenkrantzGM The whipping commences, breaking the Major's skin not 5 lashes in. The Chief-Bosun's hand is steady in delivering the Lord-Captain's justice. The cracking of the whip on Zhofrin's back echoes sharply off the walls of the training grounds.
  334. RosenkrantzGM All throughout, Wilhelm stares forward, hardly blinking.
  335. Caerwyn_Beraht opens up the tract of interlocutus. "Poena commensureturam culpae est , ita Deus principema.Unusquisque ultimuma mundare te peccatium. Ave Imperator."
  336. Neue-Ziel takes a sip of water from his canteen.
  337. Lucrezia stands and watches intently as the punishment is administered.
  338. Caerwyn_Beraht stentorian voice reverberates throughout the hold. "Gaude, quia doloris docetum alios. Flagris a singulis lectiom; clamatis orationem. ita Dicitis Interloctus. Ave Imperator."
  339. Makh_Chomun rubs his chin, staring at the man, but not focusing on him as he's whipped, pondering about various things.
  340. RosenkrantzGM By the 50th lash, the Major's back is visibly gored. Blood runs down his legs to the deckplate below, and he falls to his knees.
  341. RosenkrantzGM The Bosun's Mates rush forward, and force the man back to a more upright position.
  342. Caerwyn_Beraht rushes to side of the whipped man, stooping beside him, neaer shouting into his ear: "Infirmi Sis debilis ! Deus quasi homo imperatoris poena patium ! EXURGOM ! EXURGOM ET PAENITENTIAM!"
  343. Caerwyn_Beraht lays his tract upon the forehead of the man, motioning for the lasher to continue.
  344. Makh_Chomun "Pain cleanses the mind." Makh intones from memory. "I hope he will learn from this."
  345. RosenkrantzGM A stool is brought for him to lean on, which becomes a necessity by the 60th lash, when he appears to lose consciousness.
  346. RosenkrantzGM The Chief Bosun stops, and looks back up to the Lord-Captain's retinue for confirmation.
  347. Neue-Ziel continues inappropriately sipping water.
  348. Makh_Chomun "Revive him! He will feel every lash."
  349. Caerwyn_Beraht leans towards the man, inspecting his wound, feeling for a pulse. He sprinkles some holy water on his forehead. "Awaken, my son. Your ordeal is not yet over."
  350. RosenkrantzGM The man slowly opens his eyes, struggling to keep eye contact with the priest.
  351. Caerwyn_Beraht sprinkels some more water on his forehead. "That is right. Awaken. Rise. Be strong."
  352. RosenkrantzGM He grips the legs of the stool and pushes his body up.
  353. Neue-Ziel checks his skin-plant to read the time.
  354. RosenkrantzGM With a nod from Wilhelm, the Chief Bosun resumes administering the punishment.
  355. RosenkrantzGM With equal force, the Chief Bosun's hand steadily reaches the end of the punishment. As soon as the Major is untied, he collapses on the deckplate, in a puddle of his own blood.
  356. Caerwyn_Beraht the vigor and verve of Caerwyn's prayers suddenly fade. Sullen, he returns to his lord captain, his robes flecked with the poor fool's blood.
  357. RosenkrantzGM "Care to close with words of wisdom for the flock gathered here, Lord Beraht?" the Lord-Captain asks.
  358. Caerwyn_Beraht "They've heard enough." He mutters, some great weight sagging him to the floor. "This duty a terrible thing, milord. It wounds me to be so hateful towards my fellow-man. 'Tis not in my nature. Moreover, I hate getting bloodstains on my robe." He smiles weakly.
  359. RosenkrantzGM "Very well. Lord Chomun, dismiss the assembly."
  360. Makh_Chomun motions for the armsmen to take the man away and get him cleaned up and checked by a medicae. "As the God-Emperor as my witness, this assembly is concluded. The Lord-Captain is satisfied that justice has been meted out. You are all dismissed!"
  361. Makh_Chomun With that Makh turns to Caerwyn. "It's a nasty business, but it is necessary to keep discipline on the ship."
  362. RosenkrantzGM The assembled crew breaks formation, and return to their stations.
  363. Lucrezia "Yeah, navy life can be rough from time to time. Rather unpleasant but necesary." She adds.
  364. RosenkrantzGM The medicae staff rush in and carry the major away.
  365. Neue-Ziel approaches the Lord-Captain.
  366. RosenkrantzGM "Ziel?"
  367. Neue-Ziel "Greetings, My Lord-Captain. I am sadden to report that I wasn't able to discover the origins of the device the prisoner was holding."
  368. RosenkrantzGM "I see. Secure it in the Trophy Vaults for safekeeping. Perhaps future scholarly endeavors may be attempted."
  369. Neue-Ziel "As you command."
  370. RosenkrantzGM ====4 days later====
  371. RosenkrantzGM The saboteur is reported to have awoken, and be in healthy enough a condition to 'answer questions'.
  372. RosenkrantzGM Through your interactions with the prisoner, your many techniques, and the sheer exhaustion, he reveals that the Wan Fallaset Dynasty regards the Rosenkrantz Dynasty as one in severe debt to it.
  373. RosenkrantzGM He explains that he himself was part of one of the endeavors which then-Captain Johannes and Gilliam Wan Fallaset undertook in conjunction.
  374. RosenkrantzGM Appeals to have the debt repayed were met with deaf ears, and Wan Fallaset has taken it upon himself to take what he can from the Rosenkrantz line in order to settle the debt, and make up for the offense.
  375. RosenkrantzGM His mission was to sabotage the /Aurorae/ and relay the details of the Warp charts to Fallaset and his hired pirates, engage the Cruiser, and force a retreat. A Fallaset Dynastic representative would then establish a colony while the Lord-Captain himself would return to Calixis and ratify his claim with the Scintillan nobility.
