- Name: Peres Straviat
- Age: 39
- Gender: Female
- Species: Human
- Occupation: Clinician of the underground clinic at “The Devil Blue”
- Physical Description: Peres is a tall, pale woman with long flowing black hair. Her left arm has been amputated and replaced with a metal prosthetic, covered up by a glove and her coat. She wears a long, flowing coat that covers her arms.
- Personality: Peres’s life is driven by one core desire - survival. This wasn’t always that way, and she takes time out of her day and delights in further studying the human body and advancing her understanding of medicine and how her [Ill Jackson] can be used to the fullest. That being said, a life of hardships and repeated failures has cemented the idea in her mind that fate has it out for her, and that even if things go right for her, something will eventually happen to ruin all of that and set her back once more. Understandably, this has made her somewhat paranoid and overly cautious, taking care not to expose herself too much or go for any unnecessary and overly risky moves. Sure, her attempts at capturing the Ocean Soul are going well for now, but who knows what might end up ruining this venture of hers, or perhaps even taking her out for good?
- Bio: Peres Straviat, a bright young woman born in the Soviet Union who was studying hard to be a doctor, found herself in a harrowing situation. One day, while on a stroll, she came across a mysterious arrowhead, accidentally cutting her left arm on it when picking it up to inspect it. Soon after, the cut became infected, developing a mysterious and incredibly painful rash that slowly but surely grew across Peres’s left arm.
- None of the potential treatments that were attempted seemed to help, and as the situation worsened, the infection spreading and Peres getting quite sick, it became apparent that an amputation was going to be inevitable. The infection needed to be stopped before it could spread any further and threaten her life, and just like that, all of her hard work would be thrown away - after all, what could she do with only one arm?
- Having lost an arm, her efforts to become a doctor would become nigh impossible to reach. And without that, what would she even be able to do? Nothing.
- The procedure came and went, and Peres was left to simply do nothing, wallowing in her misery. Despite the drastic measures taken, it became quickly apparent that the infection wasn’t over. While the effects it had on her arm had disappeared with the amputation, the illness hadn’t subsided, and had even worsened, Peres getting weaker and weaker with every day that passed.
- In a way, it felt as if fate had conspired specifically against her to ruin her life. Why did she suffer so much for a simple mistake? Why did she, who had worked so hard, have everything taken away from her?! It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t right, and Peres couldn’t let things end that way! In her delirium, perhaps by instinct, she desperately reached out, attempting to get out of the hospital bed, reaching her barely functioning arm out for something to hold on to.
- And that something came in the form of [Ill Jackson]. Grabbing onto one of the stand’s monstrous and malnourished hands, she pulled herself up, barely standing upright. She took a step forward, and then another, and looked up at the stand. She had no idea what it could do, and its appearance was distinctly unsettling, and yet it felt as if it was hers, a tool she could use, something to give herself a new purpose.
- Filled with a new determination, Peres took another step forward, swaying as she recovered from the stand induced illness that had taken her arm and nearly taken her life, stepping out of the door, only to find herself somewhere entirely new.
- Los Fortuna.
- An entirely unfamiliar place, disconnected from Peres’s home in both time and tradition, with entirely new customs and an unfamiliar language. And yet, strangely enough, Peres was confident that she could take it on, using [Ill Jackson] to live and secure herself a good life in this unfamiliar city.
- Over the course of the next decade, Peres lived within Los Fortuna, starting her new life in the slums, and slowly advancing and trying to make her way out of them. She learned of the place’s troubled history, and found a group of other stand users that she got attached to. They worked together, providing various jobs, both legal and illegal to whoever could pay a sufficient price. Over time, they made more and more money, until it seemed like leaving the slums was going to be possible.
- Some of her new friends disagreed, of course, and wanted to continue in the slums, getting closer and closer with the various gang leaders in order to make even more cash, but Peres had her sights set on more than that. Perhaps she could become an actual, legitimate doctor and get a degree at Midnight Sun (despite already knowing just about everything that there was to know thanks to her experience), or do something else. It seemed as if she had a clear path out of the slums and to where she wanted to go, finally finding herself on “back on track”, so to speak, and recovering from her past losses...
- Of course, that’s not what happened. When “The Gambler”, Emily Stanton, took out just about all of the major gang leaders and criminals of the slums in a single night that would later be known as “The Fall”, a major power vacuum was formed in the slums. Things quickly erupted into chaos, and the air of panic and uncertainty was stifling. Having lost most of their clients, the group of stand users would need to find another way to make do and get more cash. At the time, Peres thought it was fine. It was a setback, to be sure, but they could recover, and come back stronger than ever, perhaps even making use of the newfound power vacuum for their own benefit!
- Things didn’t quite shake out that way. When things started getting difficult, the group soon found itself splitting apart when one of its members murdered another and ran away with all of the group’s savings. Another member chased him down, and died in the process as well. Her stand, [Gasoline Family], remained after her death and finished off the surprised traitor, but by that point, it was too late - the formerly tight-knit group of six had been whittled down to only three members.
- To Peres, it was clear what had caused this - she was too trusting, too naive. In the slums, or perhaps everywhere, people can’t be trusted to act in accordance with your desires at all times, or to even be trusted at all. Only when you have “power” and can motivate them sufficiently you can get them to help you, and even then they’ll have to be kept at a distance. She’d just need to grab whatever cash was left, leave, and find her own way in Los Fortuna, and work to gain sufficient “power”.
- One of the members of the group, Modern Holiday, tried to come alongside her, to work with her to get out of the slums and live in Los Fortuna proper. In the future, letting him come along with her would prove to be an incredibly beneficial move, but at the time, she almost brushed him off entirely, only agreeing once he proved for good that he’d be incapable of betraying her, using his own stand to make that physically impossible.
- And so, Peres and Holiday made their way out of the slums, trying to find their own path and to attain the power necessary to never lose it all again. Eventually, with Holiday’s help, they managed to strike a deal together with the owner of the well known resort “The Devil Blue” from the Waterfront District, opening up an organized clinic for any stand users who may need healing and assistance and sharing a cut of the profits with him. [Ill Jackson] made for a very, very efficient healer, after all.
- An encounter of note for her was meeting with Vitus Calamai for the first time, the man coming to the clinic in hopes of potentially restoring his arm back to normal. There, she first learned of the Ocean Soul, and developed an interest in it and the potential inherent in its ability. Vitus eventually left without getting healed after she idly mused about the potential that its ability held, but the interest never left Peres, and she began hatching a plan to catch the beast once it surfaced again.
- With the Ocean Soul’s ability and with her plan, Peres could finally amass more power and resources, enough so that she could never lose it all again. And now, with the Ocean Soul captured and on its way to her, victory is the closest to her as it’s ever been. The situation in Los Fortuna is rapidly deteriorating, and she can think of so many ways in which the fallout from the various conflicts in the city could backfire on her, but once she gets her hands on the Ocean Soul all of that will fall by the wayside, and she’ll gain the power necessary to protect herself, while potentially doing some tangible good along the way and revolutionizing the field of medicine. It’s risky, but it’s a risk worth taking - it’s a risk that has to be taken.
- Equipment: Peres doesn’t carry much with her, other than ordinary things in her coat pockets (phone, wallet, keys, etc...). However, she does keep quite a few things stored within [Ill Jackson], that she rarely brings out but which she can find use in either way:
- - Enough material from flesh/muscles/bones/organs to create the equivalent of four human beings with 444 physicals (one and a half of which are used up at most times to create most of the arms that [Ill Jackson] uses to move around)
- - 400 kilograms of stainless steel (roughly 0.05 cubic meters of it)
- - The contents of a first aid kit
- - Many top secret files that she will not take out of [Ill Jackson] under any circumstances
- - A high-end desktop computer and display, without any control devices ([Ill Jackson] can take care of that part of things)
- User Stats (14 points used):
- Strength: 1 - She has only one arm, and it’s not a very strong one. Though she has a prosthetic to replace her amputated arm, it’s more for show, lacking strength and being cumbersome to use.
- Agility: 2 - Her ability is just about average, all things considered.
- Endurance: 4 - Peres has an incredible ability to persevere and remain standing despite having taken damage.
- Skill 1: Dodging - 2 - she’s not particularly flexible or quick, and her missing arm certainly doesn’t help her agility, but one thing that Peres is surprisingly good at is dodging or weaving out of the way of attacks. There’s a limit to everything, of course, and she’s not going to be able to keep herself safe from any high-speed stand attack, but she’s better than the average person at it.
- Skill 2: Biology - 5 - She knows a lot about the human body. Anatomy, muscles, nerves, internal organs, weak spots - whatever it is, she probably knows about it.
- Stand Stats (17 points used):
- Stand Name: Ill Jackson
- Stand Type: Close range stand
- Stand Appearance: Ill Jackson’s body is the upper half of a nesting doll (with a varying size that is chosen by Peres when summoned up to a maximum height of 2 meters and a maximum diameter of 0.5 meters). Its insides are covered in a constant darkness - even if you were to shine a light source directly inside, nothing could be seen. The design on the doll depicts a young man with a serene expression on his face. From the void, two long, malformed arms can emerge that the stand uses as “legs”, though Peres often uses the stand’s ability to create more, up to around 25 arms all at the same time (somehow she thinks it looks cool).
- Power: C - The arms are surprisingly strong considering their malformed appearance. Must be due to having to constantly carry the stand around.
- Speed: C - The process of reforming objects once inside of the void is near instant. The process of expelling objects out of it is done at C speed.
- Range: C - The arms, when fully stretched out, reach up to 2 meters away from the stand, and the stand can go up to 20 meters away from Peres. There is no limit to the void, and an infinite amount of materials or objects can be stored in it.
- Durability: C - Not bad, but won’t withstand attacks from incredibly strong stands.
- Precision: A - Incredibly precise. Can reform objects/beings and build new ones out of materials it has gathered with amazing precision.
- Potential: D - Peres is very good at using Ill Jackson, and as such has pretty much maximized its potential.
- Stand Ability: The dark void within the nesting doll is pretty much infinite and endless, and should something (or someone) enter it, it can be “disassembled”, and the materials it is made of will be stored within it. [Ill Jackson] can then create new objects using the materials it currently has in store, which can be expelled from the void. If an object is partially placed within the void, the part that is within it can be disassembled. [Ill Jackson] can also opt to store an object within the void without directly disassembling it into materials, and it’s effectively kept in stasis while within it, though [Ill Jackson] can still reshape or build onto said object if it wishes to do so. If the entrance to the void is directly touching something, Ill Jackson can build directly onto it seamlessly.
- Objects can also be partially expelled, and in that case, [Ill Jackson] will be able to “control” them so long as a part of them remains within the void, effectively gaining A pre control over its various functions (machines can be operated, body parts can be moved around, etc…). Objects in this state can hurt stands. [Ill Jackson] can have living beings placed inside of it, so long as they are willing and are not Peres herself.
- As an example, when taking in a human being, they can either be stored as is and kept in “stasis” while Peres reshapes them / heals them, or they can be disassembled into individual materials - flesh, hair, nails, bones, and whatever else there is. Then, [Ill Jackson] can use these materials to create what it wants - it could form an ornate decorative cube made out of bone, or repurpose the hair to create a nice wig. In addition, if the body hasn’t been deconstructed (or has been, but has since been properly reconstructed), it can be expelled outside and used by its original owner again, or if it’s still partially connected to the void, can be controlled and moved around by [Ill Jackson] (though its power and speed are only as strong as the initial body is).
- Peres can choose [Ill Jackson]’s size upon summoning it (up to a maximum height of 2 meters and a maximum diameter of 0.5 meters, with it staying proportionally the same no matter what).
- Stand Oddities: Damage transference can be felt between Peres and [Ill Jackson’s] body, with it roughly transferring between the corresponding body part on the nesting doll and Peres’s own body (due to the doll’s lack of a lower half, damage won’t transfer there). Peres shares the senses of living beings that are currently connected to Ill Jackson / the body parts that are currently connected to it.
- Fighting Style: Uses the biological material stored within [Ill Jackson] both to create various limbs or body parts to attack others, and to heal her allies. As a whole, plays it cautiously, trying to not put herself directly in the line of fire if not necessary. Makes use of the reshaping capabilities to create various objects that she can utilize.
