Four Fates Under the Southern Sun PF, Session 13

Start: 10 am, Midsummer 28, 401

Vasileios collects wight blood in his jug.

The giant messages the Spider Queen that 'the masters request their presence'. The party obliges, returning up through the tunnel. The giant's spells still held.

Upon entering, the party notices the circlet of living ice dispelled any enchantments barring the door, presumably allowing the giants to leave at any time.

Nevertheless, they did not react with hostility. They greeted the archons with reverence and humility, and requested they seek the council for an audience.

The Archons abided, meeting with Vonemót.

He thanked the Archons, and gave Mira an ancient artifact of his people, along with the Traitor's Edge. He told her she is to do with them what she pleases. Furthermore, he specified to wait some time after they departed, so the Fortisskari would not realize the giants did not betray them. He seemed to be willing to honor his oath, further stressing she is to call upon them in their darkest hour during the Upheaval.

Vonemót and his giants departed. The party rested in the giant's sanctum. While in the sanctum, Mira performed a ritual on her bird, apotheosizing it to its final form. Upon a close examination, the creature merely seemed to have consumed Xander, and taken on his relative likeness and personality. It appeared to be an imposter wearing his flesh.

Mira and Vasileios made scrolls and potions. The Spider Queen scouted ahead, but thought better of it when she detected a disturbance in the tunnel. During this downtime, Vasileios corresponded with Kaliero and his brother, Alcaeus. Kaliero, worryingly, did not reply. Alcaeus did, however.

They briefly searched the giant's library, finding a useful tome.

Departing, they found their elven escort quite dead. They were ambushed on the way out by Fortisskari assassins and an ice coven witch. Mira probed the memories of the witch before slaying them. She discovered the following: They were commanded by Master of shadows, Sartom Elue, to investigate the giant's escape, and assassinate any survivors. They were given descriptions of your party, and told to return your bodies as intact as possible to Fortisskar.

They were not, however, successful in this endeavor.

The party exited the crypt and journeyed to the coast. Distantly, they heard the drums of the Jotunn. For now, they avoided them in their warpath, and decided to skirt along the coast to return to their boat.

During this journey, they were spotted by Sartom's craft. He had a few chosen warriors with him, and they were gaining on the party.

The party stalled his craft spectacularly, stranding it in the water. They took the following actions.

Sartom's vessel was waylayed by the 11 medium water elementals, which disrupted the vessel and destroyed the oars. The Spider Queen's tempest blew the boat around and stalled it completely. Distracted in the torrential downpour and vicious winds, Sartom was unable to adequately react to Mira's reefclaws. He disintegrated three of the four, and was briefly stalled by one. One of his warriors slew the last, buying the party ample time to escape in the fog.

They escaped northward and made the journey to the Viszudar.
