True alternates for more characters.

Smash Bros has had true alternate costumes for a while now. Not counting clone characters it’s been around since Brawl with Wario having his plumber and biker costumes, and more have joined the fray since with characters like Shulk, Robin, Villager, Bowser Jr, and even some veterans got true alternates down the line like Mario, Link, Pikachu, and Pokémon Trainer. But what if more characters got them? Which characters could get them and what would the costumes be? I’m here to lay out some of my thoughts on the answers to both of these questions. I’ll try not to give alts to characters that already have true alternates, but I might mention them if I feel they have potential.

DK: There’s a number of options you can do for Donkey Kong. There’s Funky Kong (Who I personally think should be an echo instead of a costume but that’s just me.), his look in Skylanders, his cameo appearance in Punch Out Wii with the boxing gloves. Really there are a ton of options. I’d prefer Skylanders DK personally.


Samus:


Fox:
Fox has been an interesting case for Smash and alternate designs. Ever since Smash Bros Brawl, he has been changing his design every game to match his latest game. In Smash 64 and Melee, he had his look from Star Fox 64. In Brawl and Smash 4 he had his look from Star Fox Assault/Command. And now in Ultimate he has his look from Star Fox Zero. As a nice bit of fan service for longtime fans, it would be awesome if all these designs were brought together into one game. You wouldn’t really need to make a model for the Assault design since it already has a model from Smash 4.

Luigi:


Peach:
Wedding Peach. I honestly have no idea why this isn’t in the game already. Peach already has a white alt, so why not go that extra mile and give her the proper wedding dress. A less obvious pick would be her Mario Sunshine design, though that may clash with her white/white and red alts.

Bowser:


Shiek:
Shiek is one of those characters that has had multiple designs within the Smash series. In Melee Shiek had her OoT design, in Brawl/Smash 4 she had her Twilight Princess concept art design, and now in Ultimate her look is based off BotW. I say we bring both the OoT design and the Twilight Princess designs back so we can have all three. We already have a high quality model of the Twilight Princess design from Smash 4.

Zelda:
Literally the exact same thing I said with Shiek. Have the LttP/LbW design, the Twilight Princess design, and the OoT design all together.

Falco:
Falco is in a very similar situation to Fox. In Melee he had his Star Fox 64 design, in Brawl and Smash 4 he had his look from Star Fox Assault/Command, and now in Ultimate he has his look from Star Fox Zero. Not much to say that I didn’t say with Fox.

Mewtwo:
Couple different designs you could go with for Mewtwo. You can give him his armor set from the Pokémon Anime, his original big headed design that was used in Melee, or something a smidge out there like Mega Mewtwo X.

Roy:


Mega Man:
Now before 2018 I’d say the only real choice for a Mega Man True alternate is his look before actually becoming Mega Man, but that raises issues with his Mega Buster not being on that design. But now we have some perfect true alternates, 8 to be exact. In Mega Man 11, Mega Man not only gets a color swap when using a special weapon, but an entirely new outfit as well. One of the outfits would need to be left out if we’re gonna keep it to just 8 costumes however which would be a bummer.
