  1. [18:59] Again, her eyes turn to the medal the man wears, and Nestis studies it for a brief while. Her expression is, as usual, dispassionate, and there isn't anything to gather from her tone either.
  2.
  3. Eventually, she speaks again.
  4.
  5. "In truth, I care little about it. Serve whom you serve, though Asphodel is... Hm."
  6.
  7. A hand comes up to her belt, and she loops a thumb through it, flicking a vial to her side with a finger.
  8.
  9. "Let's just say - me and mine are not on the best of terms, with you and yours."
  10. (Nestis)
  11. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  12.
  13. [18:59] A brow rose in curiosity at the statement. So, she was a member of one of the Kingdoms enemies. Well, those weren't all that hard to find. Achyon, Asphodel, it didn't matter in the long run. Both hat their fair share of foes.
  14.
  15. Now though there was an underlying threat to the situation. A danger between two strangers crossing path's within the wild. His hand came down to rest upon his plasma-caster's hilt. Casually, as if it rested there often placed there.
  16.
  17. "I've been told that a lot as well. Now, here's the question. What're you going to do about it?"
  18.
  19. For once he wasn't going to strike first. No, he was curious what the woman's motives and allegiances where. Most people would tell you if you simply kept things open ended. Whether that happened here or not? Well he'd see.
  20. (Lyulf Yayle)
  21. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  22.
  23. [18:59] "That would be the most important question, wouldn't it?"
  24.
  25. The woman shrugs lightly. Her eyes run over Lyulf, studying him. She tilts her head, then shifts her feet just a bit, moving one back.
  26.
  27. For a moment, her gaze lingers on his weapon, but then return up. She stares into his eyes for a brief moment, then flicks her eyes lower, to his mouth - and teeth, if visible.
  28.
  29. "Well, you are plainly not a vampire. If you were, I might try and take you captive - perform some experiments, but..." She straightens out. "As is, you're of little value on your own."
  30.
  31. Her tone remained flat, even as she spoke so frankly. Finally, her eyes returned to the weapon, and the hand he'd placed on it.
  32.
  33. "Perhaps I ought just let you go, and have you walk on your own way - but that depends on you, does it not? I've stated my own intentions rather plainly."
  34.
  35. The hand on her belt shifts to a vial, and she wraps her fingers around its cork, but keeps it sealed, for now.
  36.
  37. "I am, after all, an enemy of your kingdom. Might you not gain some boon for removing such a threat?"
  38. (Nestis)
  39. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  40.
  41. [18:59] There was a moment where his expression was kept amicable. He was curious of course but thanks to the unique ways of Asphodel he was having to act more cautiously. Less of a hammer and more of a scalpel as Kasai would say. Yet, that air of calm was cracked with a single sentence.
  42.
  43. 'As is, you're of little value on your own.'
  44.
  45. Those eyes of gold seemed to glow softly as his brow knitted together in agitation. His stance widened slightly as he stood there, keeping his torso front-facing as his boots slide in the dirt. One could see discipline in the movements of his body, a life of soldiering had drilled them in.
  46.
  47. "Boons, rewards, Vampires. You all think you've got it figured out. Not everyone who serve's Asphodel is there to lick at the boothills of the Vampires." Those golden hues glanced down to her hand, watched the vial as she played with it. With a smirk his focus returned to her face.
  48.
  49. "Draw."
  50.
  51. With a flash like lightening his hand tightened around the hilt of his revolver. The sound of mithril sliding over leather was heard. A blink of an eye perhaps passed before the purple glowing gun was leveled upon Nestis and an arc of raw plasma was discharged.
  52.
  53. Seems it was a showdown.
  54. (Lyulf Yayle)
  55. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [18:59] "I find most humans follow the same patterns, and most everyone seeks approval from their superiors."
  58.
  59. Her hand shifts to the staff on her back, gripping the haft of it. It is pulled out in a swift motion, and the tip pointed at Lyulf.
  60.
  61. "A clockwork soldier, retired or no, ought to be no different."
  62.
  63. It looked as if she was about to say more, but the discharge of plasma made her eat her words and focus on dodging instead. She leapt to the side, and all of a sudden, an explosion of venom emerged from her, pooling at the tip of her weapon.
  64.
  65. "So be it."
  66. (Nestis)
  67. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  68.
  69. [18:59] {Won Dangerous RPB against Nestis}
  70. [18:59] ** Lyulf Yayle has inflicted an injury upon Nestis. ("Temporary Injury", "Temporary Injury", "Temporary", "Duration: Medium (2 days)") **
  71. [18:59] Lyulf Yayle says, "dasdasdsa"
  72. [18:59]
  73. {LOAD GAME}
  74.
  75. [18:59] Those bolts of plasma rained as Nestis attempted to re-position herself. His first shot had missed but not by much. The Gunslinger's silver-hand came down to strike at the hammer of his plasma-caster! Cycling the mana-cylinder's that helped the weapon decompress the plasma that he fed into it. As his salvo of bolts followed the magi some would inevitably catch purchase but none would truly land to deal their full damage.
  76.
  77. There was a pause as the barrel was turned red-hot and his focus shifted for just a moment to look at the gun. It was an opening that the woman could take full advantage of. Her own magics coming to bear as darts of toxin's and vial's of noxious fumes where launched his way.
  78.
  79. "Shit!"
  80.
  81. Yayle's response was swift; his hand coming up to cover his mouth as he angled sheets of Mythril across his frame to try and negate the poisons. Neither of the duo seemed inclined for a close range battle and so they danced around each other. Each ducking and weaving through the trees to avoid the deadly magics of the other.
  82.
  83. Taking cover behind a particularly hearty tree Lyulf brought his hand down tot he gun. Smashing his fist into it and channeling his mastery over metal magic along the barrel to repair it in the field. His in depth knowledge of the weapon proving crucial. He knew that he had cover and so he'd start to banter.
  84.
  85. "You fucked up when you assumed I was just another Cog! Now you're going to pay for it!" It was banter but he knew that every word opened himself up for an attack. He waited patiently for a pause in the air before he made his move.
  86.
  87. Twirling from his cover with the gun held high! He was left surprised to see nothing. Slowly the gun rose to a ready position as his golden gaze scanned the area. From his left he'd spot them, using the cover themselves to gain an advantage.
  88.
  89. "Clever girl."
  90.
  91. A fullisade of shadowy orbs came crashing through the trees where he stood. He felt the blasts striking into them. Blowing away a chunk of his armor an agitating the wounds inflicted by Arancelli. Rots and corruption coursed through his left arm as it drooped. "Fuckin' Vampi-" With a groan he stomped upon the ground, a pillar of stone rose to provide cover.
  92.
  93. Then with a step he pressed his foot into the earthen mound and pushed. Like an avalanche the pillar shot forwards cracking through trees as they destroyed Nestis' cover. When she was out in the open he flashed a smirk! His left arm jerked upwards and there was a flash of red along the connection to his forearm!
  94.
  95. 'Rocket Punch!'
  96.
  97. He wasn't lame enough to shout the move as it blasted across the gap towards Nestis only to- Miss! That is until he jerked his arm back and the metal bounced in flight and returned to strike her squarely in the back. Ending the battle as he willed the metal back to him.
  98.
  99. The sound of boots hitting ground could be heard as he walked closer. "My worth isn't yours to measure. Remember that." Of course he was blinded by a temper and more focused on dialogue. So, Nestis had ample opportunity to take advantage of that and escape.
  100.
  101.
  102. (Lyulf Yayle)
  103. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  104.
  105. [18:59] And so, they fought.
  106.
  107. Fighting gunslingers was a different enough experience. She'd faced someone similar before, but Lyulf was a tricky one, and it showed.
  108.
  109. Nestis dodged and weaved, sending forth blasts of acid and venom. She ducked here, changed direction there, kept on her feet and tried to keep moving. It was tough to evade some of the shots, and some inevitably caught her off, but she managed to prolong the battle well enough.
  110.
  111. "Did I, now?"
  112.
  113. The response to his comment was short. Nestis didn't seem overly inclined to banter mid-battle, though judging by the harsh, raspy tone, it might just be that she couldn't do it and keep focused at the same time.
  114.
  115. Breathe in, breathe out. The battle continued after its brief lull, but it was not a long one, afterwards. She managed to get a strike in, but even though it aggravated the wound he already bore, it was not enough to bring him down.
  116.
  117. Nestisfound herself without cover, as a pillar of stone cracked through te trees. Suppressing the desire to curse, she focused venom at the tip of her staff, dodged an attack and-
  118.
  119. ...Well, turns out she didn't quite dodge it. It came back, swirling like a boomerang.
  120.
  121. A short, and for Lyulf, undoubtedly satisfying shriek escaped her throat as she crashed forward, tumbling through the destroyed foliage. Her back was afire, yet she knew quite well that staying put wasn't an option.
  122.
  123. Nestis clambered to her feet, rising with the help of her staff. It was lucky that the man chose to keep talking instead of securing his captive, and using that as an opportunity, she dug forward and sprinted off into the woods, rapidly gaining distance, before disappearing entirely into the foliage.
  124.
  125. Though she was out of sight, one last shout did echo from the woods, no doubt directed at the man.
  126.
  127. "Oh I will remember it, servant of Asphodel. Best you not forget this either."
  128. (Nestis)
