  1. Hey, racing nerds 8)
  2.
  3. I want to start up a racing tournament for Wizard of Legend. I really want this to be a community focused event and help promote the Wizard of Legend community to grow, have fun, and have more reason to play thius game.
  4.
  5. A little background on myself: I have experience with running tournaments, as I used to run the Binding of Isaac Balls of Steel weekly races that got 2-4k viewers, and also brought attention to a lot of streamers that raced. Originally the races were ran by CobaltStreak and Richard_Hammer, and when they got tired of doing it I took over doing Weekly tournaments that were a big hit. After Isaac racing sort of died down a bit, I moved onto speedrunning, then I played Dead by Daylight, and have sticked with that ever since. WIth Wizard of Legend coming out - it's taken my interest as of right now!
  6.
  7. I would rather not guess what racers would want as a ruleset, so any recommendations / things you would like to race would be highly appreciated! In fact, any feedback is great.
  8.
  9. Racing Rules (in progress):
  10. This is a very rough draft idea, and is just something to think on. During the tournmanet I'd use a program that would randomize the spells both players will use (so they will use the same, random spells). This tool would also be available to the public to use for racing practice. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with the trinket. 200 coins would be allowed, picking Boss would not be allowed (from the mate next to Jade), and either the cloak would be up to the players, or random as well (no pride unless pride tournament much later).
  11.
  12. I will get a referee that would be in talks with the racers on Discord, my artist can do all the layouts, I'd be putting in my own $100 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Probably 50 for 1st, 30 for 2nd, 20 for 3rd. This would be sent via Paypal or Steam giftcards. I'll try to increase this based on tips given within the tournament as well, but do realize that everyone needs money. Ideally, tips in the tournament cover my cost, and pay for the layouts / animations needed to make things look nice. Just being straight up. If no tips come, I'll still cover everything. I want to see this community grow just as bad as you do, especially the racing scene I think this game has potential for.
  13.
  14. I will create the website for sign-ups / racing details once I get more feedback and participation interest.
  15.
  16. Requirements for Participants:
  17. -You need to be able to stream at a minimum of 800 bitrate. 500 might be tolerable as well, I'll need to check. Your gameplay can't lag.
  18. -This is a viewer event just as much as a racing event. Everyone needs to see you play.
  19. -I will create a guide on how to stream too and minimize impact on CPU, but Twitch has a solid one as well.
  20. -In order to receive money for competing, you need to be older than 18. If you are not older than 18, the money will go to a charity of your choosing.
  21. -You need to be able to run Discord at the same time.
  22. -At minimum you need to be able to hear when the referee says go, and need to announce when you are done. A cheap $2-$5 mic is good enough. Even muffles will be good enough!
  23. -If Discord takes up too much of a racer's computer memory, I may buy a TeamSpeak server which should be less impactful. You will need to tell me ahead of time.
  24. -You will need to show the in-game time after the cutscenes to be certain of who won on close races. We don't want this to be a race of who has the best PC parts.
  25. -You will need 100% completion. I can try to see if giving a save file is a viable option, or see how the saves are handled.
  26.
  27. Big Topics:
  28. -Map opinions
  29.
  30. My opinions:
  31. No map to start leads to more fun races, otherwise it's always a race to a boss. Yes, someone could get lucky and get the boss early, but if they rush they could be punished by missing some damage / spell early that someone could get an advantage with and race faster. They could also get unlucky and someone could get lucky next floor. This game has RNG elements, and I think a map every time could lead to less exciting momemnts / be too repetitive.
  32.
  33. Any other questions / concerns, please message me on Discord or Twitter! You can find my discord below the stream. If it's a general question, you can post it in the speedrunning discord as well to get other racer's feedback. (https://discord.gg/yEW5hPg = Wizard Racing Discord). If you wanted to message me to let me know you are interested, that would be helpful as well to get a count of how many people want to race.
  34.
  35. Feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested in racing the game!
  36.
  37. This would take place on the weekend, generally around 3-4PM EST is what I am currently thinking. This could change. Also, this tournament wouldn't go live for a few weeks to allow people to get to 100% completion (or DL the 100% file), as well as allow me, my artist, and others to work out quirks and work on the sign-up website.
