- # 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Controller
- ## Modes
- Hold `B` (D-Input), `Y` (Switch) when turning the device on. Must be done after taking it out of the dock. `lsusb` will show the device ids.
- - `6012`: DInput
- - `6013`: Off with dongle
- - `310b`: Xinput
- **DInput**
- - Hold `B` when turning the controller on.
- - See [[#udev setup]], must be done before steam will see gyro etc.
- - Support for Gyro, other buttons (without just binding those buttons to an existing button)
- - Requires running the game through steam (steam provides a translation layer)
- - *Note: if the firmware has mappings for say, the paddles, they will override what steam/dinput sees*.
- - Note you can use steam to bind "extended buttons" and map gyro to some events (button down, etc), probably better to disable any gyro-when-x in the firmware. Select the game in steam, then press the controller button (NOT settings). You can do this within the game too,
- **XInput**
- - Broader support
- - Hold `X` when turning the controller on.
- - Must be in XInput mode to update the firmware!
- ## Turbo Mode
- *Does not persist between turning the controller off.*
- Hold `X|Y|A|B`, press `*`, now holding the button will auto-press, flashing the LED. Repeat to disable. You can do this for all face buttons at the same time.
- Press `**` to enable "auto mode", where the button is pressed by default, holding stops the pressing.
- ## Rebinding
- Rebind RL4 or Paddles by pressing `R4|L4` + `X|Y|A|B` + `square` to bind, button + square to unbind.
