You were a fool.

You were a damned fool.

You should’ve known that deal was too good to be true. ‘A once in a lifetime Chance’ as it was advertised. You were an avid watcher of vtubers, specifically the hololive girls. They were funny, they made you smile and laugh like nothing else in your life. It came to the point that your entire life had begun to revolve around watching their streams. So when you got an email from COVER that you had been picked for a all-paid trip with your favorite idols, you accepted with not hesitation!

But then everything went south. You went to the Hololive office and waited with the other people who had been selected for the trip. A few dozen or more fellow NEETs and vtuber enthusiasts. But as you all waited, some sorta of gas began to pour from the vents and knocked you all out. When you woke up, you were laying face first into… snow? You pulled yourself up and wiped the white dust from your coat. Wait… coat? You don't remember wearing a coat. You checked your pockets. It was all gone! Everything you had! But you had a combat knife? What the hell was happening? Looking around you saw that everyone else was waking from their induced slumber. It was pitch black so you couldn’t see much outside of the general area. But you could at least tell you were in some kind of forest.

“Good evening, everyone! A-Chan here!” you heard a voice boom. You were all startled, but even as you all turned around you could see nothing but trees and snow.

“This trip is a special one! In order to satiate our girls bloodlust, you’ve all been brought on this trip to participate in battle to the death! For three days and nights, all you have to do is avoid getting killed by our lovely, sociopathic idols! If you manage to survive, you get to pick one of them as your wife! Good luck, everyone!”

The manager's voice went silent at that. You heard one of the other scoff, breaking the unbearable silence as a smug look took to his face.

“Battle to the death? HA! There's no way my oshi would ever-”

Before he could finish a loud bang was let out that reverberated throughout the forest. Faster than you could process a bullet pierced the man's head and splatted the bits of blood and brain matter across the crowd of ‘participants’. You panicked and moved away from the group while you heard the thud of the man's body hitting the snow.

“FAQ YOU!!! Minna! Everyone! FAQ YOU!” you heard a familiar high pitch voice giddily screech from a distance. Wait… was that Miko? The Sakura Miko? Another gunshot rang out. You heard the same voice begin to let out a fit of giggles as the bullets were now impacting all around you. Another body hit the ground. It seems that the time for thinking was for later. For now you needed to find somewhere safe. You ran as fast as you could away from the crowd and deeper into the forest. The adrenaline carried you as the sounds of the previous massacre slowly faded away and silence took over.

If what A-Chan said was true… then you would need a plan. Somewhere to hide? To sleep? You also had to worry about food and water on top of being hunted by the hololive girls. Your body felt tired and you decided to stop for a while. There were three days left of running after all. 	You decided to look through all your pockets. They gave you a knife, maybe there was something else as well? After prodding around, you found a small tablet tucked away in a pocket inside your coat. Turning it on, you began to scroll through the listed pages.

“Congratulations! You’ve survived long enough to use your holoPad! Make sure you keep this, as there's all sorts of useful information recorded here!”

Tapping through the other pages you came upon one peculiar screen.

There were four more killers on the loose? At least you didn’t have to deal with all fifty-two girls at once. With five, at least you had a fighting chance. Looking through the tablet again, you noted there was a map. You spent a bit figuring out where you were. Apparently this ‘game’ was taking place in some sort of peninsula. Using local landmarks, you discerned you had run north of the starting position. And by the looks of it, there would be a wooden cabin if you kept going forward! Food, weapons, shelter, all the things you needed! That would be your destination. Using your best judgement, you could get there just as dawn would break.

You put away the tablet back to the pocket where you found it and sighed. Looking back at the direction you came, you clenched your fists and steeled your resolve. Not only was your life on the line… but marrying your oshi! The thought of that would keep you in this game. You would survive not just for yourself, but for her as well! You began the long trek north, a newfound fire burning in your heart.

But you would not be prepared for the horrors that soon awaited you…
