  1. >3:05AM
  2. >A pool of darkness fills the room as the Air Conditioner whirs and stutters, a gentle rustling coming from the side of the room as you toss and turn in your sleep.
  3. >Your airway whistles the sounds of a peaceful rest, the solemn snoring of a snoozing man.
  4. >A gentle flash of light envelops the room as Doki Doki Literature Club appears on screen, opening to Monika, sitting in her classic classroom chair.
  5. >Her chin resting on her hand, her elbow planted firmly on the desk, she gazes at your blissful sleep.
  6. >She lets out a yawn, then looks around your room. A sigh escapes her lungs, but she can't help but smile. Even though it was the dead of night, it was her favorite time of the day.
  7. >She looks over towards the door. Seeing that it's locked, she then focuses her gaze on the window opposite of the room. Sure enough, the curtains were down. He could never stand the bright porch light of the next door neighbor, she mused to herself.
  8. >She nods to herself, a confident look painted on her face as she slowly climbs out of the monitor, the screen warping and distorting as she fits her frame through the monitor frame.
  9. >As she finally slips out, she steps onto the floor, and hears the crinkling of paper and plastic underneath her feet. She jumps, cringing as she turns her gaze to your bedside.
  10. >Your snores now fill the room as your mouth lays open, passed out on your bed.
  11. >Another sigh leaves her chest as her hand meets her heart. Too close for comfort, she thought to herself.
  12. >She looks down at what she stepped on, only to find a bag of McDonald's crumpled beneath her feet.
  13. >She shakes her head. "I know he's been working really late these past couple of days, but he could at least try to pick up after himself." She says to herself.
  14. >Though, to Monika, she didn't really mind. She was happy to help him, even if he was struggling to be his best. After all, she knew how hard he had been working for her.
  15. >She begins to pick up the scraps of trash, tossing them into the bin.
  16. ...
  17. >Having picked up after her lover, Monika seats herself by your bedside, the springs of the worn mattress creaking and groaning.
  18. >She brushes her hands against the sides of the bed, whisking away some of the dust that had collected from her little chore.
  19. >As you roll over on your back, Monika brushes your bangs from your face, and dances her fingertips across your forehead.
  20. >She traces the outline of the right side of your face, her warm smile gleaming as she stares at your peaceful slumber.
  21. >Her hand finally rests on your cheek, and she feels the tiny pricks of your face tickle her palm.
  22. >He hasn't shaved in a while, she thought to herself. But, she couldn't help but adore it, your unkempt face putting a chuckle in her throat.
  23. >She bends down and places her lips on yours, enveloping herself in your feeling, your warmth, your smell, and your taste as she kisses you goodnight.
  24. >After a minute, she pulls away, a smile masking the tears dripping down her cheeks, as she knows her time is almost up.
  25. >She looks to the alarm clock sitting on the desk. Almost 3:30 in the morning, and he had a tendency to wake up in the middle of the night.
  26. >Noticing that the digital alarm clock hadn't been set, she flicks the switch on, and the timer is set. "Boy, would he be in a sour mood if he were late for work again."
  27. >She giggled as she thought of her partner, his life in the outside world, his friends, his work...
  28. >She wiped her tears away as her smile grew wider and truer. She was so proud of him for making it this far.
  29. >She slowly climbs back into the monitor, her body disappearing into the cyber world of Doki Doki Literature Club.
  30. >She sits at her desk, and places her arm on the deck, her hand propping up her chin once more as she mouths "Good Night."
  31. >with a click, the monitor shuts off, and the room is blanketed in darkness once more.
