Some Notable Improvements:
Majora's Mask:
In August, the discovery of a buffer overflow glitch using the Song of Soaring led to an any% route on the Wii U version of the game which would open a debug menu. This menu allowed the runner to simply give themselves the necessary items to complete the game.
In November, Stale Reference Manipulation research led to the discovery of Moon Warp. The current any% route uses SRM to modify a variable in a Deku Palace guard instance which determines where the player is sent upon being caught.

The Wind Waker:
In July, it was discovered that a runner can prevent the Hyrule barrier from loading through precise dynamic memory exhaustion. This leads to an any% route which goes directly to Ganon's Tower after completing Forsaken Fortress 2.

Skyward Sword:
In May, the discovery of Reverse BiTMagic began a fast-paced time of discovery in Skyward Sword, ultimately leading to an any% route which skips the Song of the Hero, and goes to Hylia's Realm immediately after the Imprisoned 2 fight.

Breath of the Wild:
In September, the discovery of Bomb Impact Launches revolutionized the speed and flexibility with which a runner can move throughout the world.
In November, it was discovered that bosses can be damaged during cutscenes, allowing the any% speedrun to skip the fight against Windblight Ganon.

Ocarina of Time 3D:
In December, an RTA consistent setup for entering the Farore's Wind fairy fountain without explosives or the Infinite Sword Glitch was discovered. In combination with other tricks, this leads to a viable any% route which skips explosives entirely.
