  4. Q- 1.6 is broken, what do I do?/ How do I access 1.6.1?
  5. A- Go to Stellaris in your steam library, right click, "properties", betas tab, and then select 1.6.1 beta from the dropdown list.
  6.
  7. Q- How do I deal with sectors?
  8. A- Develop your planets before putting them in sectors, and make sure sectors are not allowed to redevelop, otherwise they'll replace your buildings. Or use a mod that raise your planet cap to 99.
  9.
  10. Q- How do I design my ships/fleet? Is X weapon type any good? Is X ship type any good?
  11. A- Read this: https://pastebin.com/2QWUPKSh
  12.
  13. Q- Whats the best starting FTL?
  14. A- Warp is straight forward and great for beginners, Wormholes have many advantages but need a bit of micro-management to be used properly. Hyperlanes are very restricting and generally not recommended unless you are playing a Hyperlanes only game, which is a setting you can toggle when setting up a game. All FTL types are eventually replaced with the much superior Jump Drive researched later in the game.
  15.
  16. Q- Are slaves/robots any good?
  17. A- This depends on how you want to build your empire, both have incredible potential for mineral and food production. Slaves can also be used to get rid of dissident factions (by enslaving every member of a faction it disappears) and robots can be used to colonise low-habitability planets after you research Droids. More details here: http://www.stellariswiki.com/Population.
  18.
  19. Q- Which Megastructures are good?
  20. A- Habitats are good ways of increasing energy and research. Ringworlds are just 4 25-tile Gaia worlds and so are useful if you can afford them. Sentry arrays are useful as they provide vision of the entire galaxy. Dyson Spheres are inefficient due to the build cost/time to energy generation ratio and Science Nexus are generally only build-able once you have researched most non-repeatable technology anyway, although they can be useful if you are extremely late game and want to stack repeatable tech buffs for whatever reason or you have mods that add more techs. For specifics see: http://www.stellariswiki.com/Megastructures

  22. Q- What are the conditions for the Crisis events?
  23. A1- Unbidden have a minimum condition of 150 years having passed, they have a good chance to spawn after a non-FE empire researched jump drive technology.
  24. A2- Prethoryn Scourge is entirely random and rolled at startup:
  25. 10% chance of occurring about 170 years after game start
  26. 20% chance of occurring about 200 years after game start
  27. 30% chance of occurring about 250 years after game start
  28. 15% chance of occurring about 300 years after game start
  29. 25% chance of never occurring
  30. A3- AI rebellion can occur in any empire that has researched sentient AI and has synthetic pops. At specific intervals 2 events can pop up that allow you to avoid triggering the rebellion in your empire.
  31. A4- For specifics see: http://www.stellariswiki.com/Crisis
  32.
  33. Q- What are the different covenants with the Shroud?
  34. A- Eater of World: +15% Firerate, +30% Army Morale but randomly eats pops.
  35. Instrument of Desire: +25% Energy, +25% Minerals but gives your species the Decadent trait
  36. Whisperers in the Void: +15% Research Speed, +15% Empire Influence Gain but drives your leaders insane.
  37. The End of the Cycle gives you all the bonus but after 50 years, he'll fuck you up.
  38.
  39. Q- I know people say that missiles are shit, but how bad can they be really?
  40. A- Missile have multiple crippling problem, the main being the extreme power of Flak and to a lesser extent Point Defence which the AI will put on their ships. Missiles really are absolutely terrible at any point other than very early game.
