  1. Monolith's - Law & Order System.
  2.
  3. It's well known that players aren't willing to wait for proper court RP, that's why we will give them option of bail.
  4. Let me walk you through the steps of the system.
  5. Mind you, that some kind of WHITELIST is needed for judges
  6.
  7.
  8. 1. First, a crime is committed, it doesn't get saved in the system or anything, it's up to the officer to document the crimes.
  9.
  10. 2. Then, suspect is apprehended - he's cuffed, brought to the holding cell in the PD building. Arresting officer can't input any custom reason, but ticks box by box
  11. what crimes have been committed - each of those crimes (ESPECIALLY violent ones) up the bail by a big amount of money. Arresting officer can input notes that would be
  12. used in eventual court hearing.
  13.
  14. 3. Suspect is put in holding cell - we display possible options to the jailed player, the options are following;
  15. * Plead guilty ( full sentence given based on what crimes were boxed )
  16. * Appeal and post bail ( user is being let go, after paying bail - He can disconnect and he's free to do whatever )
  17. * Appeal and don't pay bail ( user is being held at holding cell, he can disconnect, but upon connecting again, he's being put in the jail again. if he sits out 1/5 of his length sentence (as he pleaded guilty), he's being discharged due to nobody claiming his case. To sit out a jail sentence you have to be in game at all times, otherwise timer doesn't go down.
  18.
  19. 4. Lawyer/Judge logs in - checks menu for any outgoing cases. There, we display any prisoners that have appealed their sentences and whenever they're online or not.
  20. Lawyer this way can summon offline and online players. Offline players that have been summoned will get a big notification on their screen.
  21. * if a person is on bail and is being summoned, if he fails to show up at the court after some time, he gets an automatic warrant set out for him, that lasts forever and denies any future bail AND/OR appeal for him
  22. * if he is summoned and attends the court hearing, then judge can either summon the arresting officer. If he's offline, the use of note system can be used - mind you, you can paste in screenshots into the notes and they'll be valid evidence.
  23. * if a person couldn't afford bail but chose to appeal, then if that person is in the holding cell at the moment, he automatically gets teleported to the court room, assuming the judge is there.
  24. 5. Court RP - at this point there should be at least 2 people in the court room - the one being charged, and the judge - People that can be summoned are done purely through the use of /ad system or the phone/tablet system - victims/officers supporting/friends of the defendant/witnesses
  25. 6. Hearing outcome
  26. Here is the reason why judge should be whitelisted - The charges can either be dropped completely, OR they can be bumped by 25%
  27. 7. The sentence - The sentence of the player can last up to 5 hours (debatable, could be more or less) and full prison facility is provided to the player to enchance their prison RP, they can play sports in the prison, deal drugs (small profit), shank each other.
  28. They can even break out (only with a help of outside forces). Guard RP is optional, but nicely viewed. if there are no wardens on duty - the prison follows automatic schedule where prisoners have set times to eat and are teleported to their cells for lights-out.
  29. To sit out an sentence you NEED to be online, if you disconnect and connect again, your sentence will resume at the last point it was.
  30.
  31.
  32. At this point the person sits out their sentence, this system addresses 3 problems:
  33. If person is jailed and doesn't agree with the sentence, they can appeal it and lower it.
  34. If person is jailed and doesn't agree with the sentence, AND they appealed it, but nobody responded - then they can leave the prison after only 1/5th of the served time.
  35. If a person is jailed and thinks that 30 minutes for a murder is enough, then they might not bother with court rp, as that rp would take LONGER than the sentence itself
  36. If a person is jailed, but they really want to play, and they have the resources to do so, they can post bail. If they fail to show up to execute the RP, they'll be severely punished with a permanent arrest warrant that will deny them another bail (until they server that sentence) and it will bump their final sentence up.
  37. The arresting officer doesn't have to be there, notes are passed onto the judge and based on that fair judgement can be given out with minimal input needed from 4+ parties. All that's needed is the judge, notes, and the defendant.
  38.
  39. Additionally, if the sentence given by the officer is not true at-all, the defendant can appeal from it on forums, where he would receive priority support from one of the admins. THIS TO BE USED ONLY WHEN: The charge has been an obvious failRP from the officer part, such as an entry officer arresting someone for 15x counts of murder, where someone in reality just jaywalked. Police officers should be able to be permanently blacklisted from posting more serious crimes.
  40.
  41. This provides solid ground for our planned Prison feature, as well as it enchances RP by raising the seriousnessnes of the crime commited.
  42.
  43. The following supporting systems would need to be implemented to execute this draft to the fullest potential;
  44. - Judge whitelist system
  45. - Search/Arrest Warrant
  46. - Prison Utilities/Prison Schedules
