- Overview
- Ms. /co/ 2021 will be the fourth edition of the annual Ms. /co/ event, and the seventh character tournament overall.
- Mr. /co/lympus 2021 will be the fourth edition of the annual Mr. /co/lympus event.
- > What is this?
- A single-elimination tournament of 128 characters that was first started in 2018.
- They are a pair of tournaments held yearly on /co/ which last for 10 days each. They
- are presented in a meta context as if they were beauty pageants with Yotsuba, /co/nrad,
- /co/lette, Hope Corgi, J/aco/lyn, Jenny Wakeman, and Johnny Bravo presiding as judges.
- People post drawings, vocaroos, greentexts, storytimes, rec guides, videos, or edits of characters
- they like that are nominated. The champion wins a "Jenny" or "Johnny" and is permanently retired.
- A more comprehensive history can be found on the wiki.
- > Who won before / What is the Elite Eight?
- The final eight characters in each tournament, usually corresponding to Round 5.
- Reaching the Elite Eight is generally seen as a mark of strength, and is also treated as a sort of an "exclusive club" because relatively few contestants are able to reach that stage, and membership is permanent.

- 24 hr period
- >Character Limit
- For Qualifier Poll
- Each series can only have a maximum of three (3) girls in the main bracket. These are decided by their votes in the qualifying poll. However, there is no restriction on the number of girls that can be nominated from a single series.
- >Series (individual shows) can only have 3 characters (i.e. 3 characters from STAS, BTAS, or PPG)
- >No character limit on DC/Marvel/Disney-core franchise characters due to their size, huge variety, and difficult implementation
- >Eligible Nominees
- For Characters to be nominated
- >Characters that originate in /co/ western material
- >Puppets allowed (e.g. Muppets, Sesame Street, etc.)
- >Characters can be any age
- >Cannot nominate multiple characters in one post
- >/a/ and live-action actors are not allowed
- >/v/ characters that did not originate from /co/ are not allowed
- >Any non-bannable contestants (No colored horse show characters)
- >Characters cannot be Board-Tans, OC Donut Steels, or originate from a meme
- >Real-life politicians that are portrayed as cartoon characters / caricatures are not allowed, satirical or otherwise.
- >Grandfather Clause: Any character that was allowed in past Ms. /co/ tournaments is eligible
- >Generalization Statute: Multiple versions of the same character --- be it from various adaptations, spin-off series, or alternative universes --- are combined into a single entrant. In other words, you are voting for the entire history of that character, not just one particular iteration.
- Example: Zatanna (DC Comics, Young Justice, DC Super Hero Girls, etc.)
- >Elite Eight Rule: All /co/ characters except the temporary year ban of the elite eight are allowed
- >Jenny Rule: Champions are barred from re-entry into the tournament
- Restrictions
- >Jenny Rule
- Champions are permanently retired and will be barred from participating in future tournaments.
- >Elite Eight Rule
- Characters appearing in the quarter-finals (R5) of the previous contest are not allowed to compete in this edition. They will be eligible for nomination in the next contest.
- >One-Month Old Clause
- Any character making their first debut in the entirety of the previous month is ineligible to compete.
- -Meaning if the competition starts on Oct. 8th, no character debuting from Sept. 1st to Oct. 8th is eligible to compete
- -Similarly, if the competition starts on Sept. 10th, no character debuting from Aug. 1st to Sept. 10th is eligible to compete
- >Generalization Statute:
- Multiple versions of the same character --- be it from various adaptations, spin-off series, or alternative universes --- are combined into a single entrant. In other words, you are voting for the entire history of that character, not just one particular iteration.
- Example: Zatanna (DC Comics, Young Justice, DC Super Hero Girls, etc.)
- >Grandfather Clause:
- Any character that has previously made it into Ms. /co/ or Mr. /co/lympus tournaments is eligible to participate.
- ---------------------------
- >Security Questions
- Send in suggestions for Security Questions and Passwords, which will be in a separate form included in the OP.
- >Poll Picture
- The poll picture will be taken from the nomination threads.
- If the picture is a gif, unofficial material, or is intentionally misleading, then the picture will be switched for one that better represents the character.
- As there are many images during this period, the chosen picture may not be the first posted or one with the most replies.
- >Theme Round: (R5: Swimsuit round)
- The poll picture will be temporarily replaced with a swimsuit picture (taken from an anchor post reply).
- This poll picture can be an edit or fanart, as not every character has an official picture in a swimsuit. (e.g. Eve (Wall-E))
- If a picture is not provided, the poll picture will remain the same.
- If a picture is provided, the poll picture will only change for Round 5.
- ---------------------------
- Feedback Poll
- Feedback Poll will be 48 hours upon the finale results and will be split into two polls,
- one for multiple-choice and one for short answer. It will be placed in a Pastebin link in the OP
- to somewhat help prevent thread deletion. This is during the results/afterparty threads. (the same)
- 1.) multiple choice: concrete answers to be released immediately
- 2.) short answer: suggestions only
- Each should have fewer than 10 questions. This is to increase the number of voters for the required stances, for anons who don't wish to write suggestions, and give more anonymity to those wanting to write suggestions.
- These feedback polls are to be made yearly after the Ms. /co/ tournament to provide changes based on a community consensus. Any changes will be made to the following tournament and not during the ongoing tournament.
- ---------------------------
- Seeding System
- 1-128 based on qualifier poll (the same)
- Seeding occurs in order to create a sense of balance and order. Stronger opponents will be scattered equally amongst other less strong Girls. If there is no seeding, it's possible that all of the stronger Girls could be fighting against one another within one single pool or the same branch of a tableau. Spreading them out in this way allows for more fair competition, and allows other less high seeded players to compete against the higher-seeded Girls.
- Opponents may be allocated randomly (such as in the FA Cup); however, since the "luck of the draw" may result in the highest-rated competitors being scheduled to face each other early in the competition, seeding is often used to prevent this.
- These tournaments provide a relatively simple application. The constituency poll on the nominated suggestions and seed based on how many votes they get in it. The most votes, or hence strongest candidate is the first seed. It goes against the 128th seed for the first round or the one that made it in with the least amount of votes and hence the weakest. Then 2 goes against 127th and so on. Winners face winners and so on.
- >Tiebreakers
- -Qualifier: 128 v 129 seeding place (current)
- Tiebreakers are decided through alphabetical order of series name, and if still tied, character name.
- The names are automatically taken from the nominee list.
- -Rounds: (same)
- higher seeding number wins if they have the same amount of votes
- Single-elimination
- A single-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament where the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated from the tournament. Each winner will play another in the next round, until the final match-up, whose winner becomes the tournament champion.
- >R6 (Semi-finals): Elite Eight (places 5-8) will be voted on in this round.
- >Captcha must be included
- >Voting for each matchup must be necessary to vote.
- >Google forms setting: Only allow one response per person
- Thread Containment: Please keep all talk based on the competition inside the current thread.
- Poll System: Google Forms with Captcha
- Trophy Name: The Jenny and The Johnnies
- Countdown Timer: https://itsalmo.st/
- >Round Length
- Each round will have a 24 hour time period, so each anon (no matter the time zone) will have a chance to vote. Nomination Round will be 24 hours. Qualifier Poll will be for 24-36 hours.
- Note: Before Round 1 begins, the host will need some time to prepare (listed below). As one vote can change the seeding order, this needs to be done after the qualifier poll has been posted.
