- MY LITTLE JOJO: STANDS ARE MAGIC
- CHAPTER 16: THAT NIGHT, UNDER A STARLIT SKY PART 1
- OPEN THE GAME!
- >Well, this is stupid
- >Stuck in the clink with some dumbass who won't stop whining like a bitch
- >And his brother who's not even trying to stop the unending tide of bitching
- "Wouldja quit bein' such a baby? Gettin' thrown in jail ain't the end o' the world, ya know."
- >F -"Says you! I've never been in jail! Who knows what sort of horrors my brother and I might face?!"
- "Ugh, we ain't in some maximum security prison, just some holding cells! You think the bad shit happens HERE?"
- >F -"And how would YOU know that?"
- >*CLANG*
- >"Keep it down in there!"
- >A hush falls over you three as the guardpony seated in a chair near the cell whacks the bars with her nightstick
- >Well, at least his babblin' stopped
- >You try your best to get comfortable on your bench in the cell
- >The silence that follows is heaven compared to just a few minutes before
- >F -"You're trying to sleep? Here?"
- >*sigh* It was fun while it lasted
- "Better out here than in the cold."
- >A few minutes pass with more of that sweet, sweet nothing before-
- >F -"Welp, I'm done being stuck in here. We're breaking out."
- "We?"
- >F -"Yes, we. Would you rather be stuck in here?"
- >You turn to face him
- "Yeah. A roof to sleep under, three square meals a day while we're here? Better than outside, trying to scavenge what ya can."
- >F -"You sound like you know what you're talking about."
- "Well, ain't you a Perceptive Perry?"
- >He backs off from questioning further, rubbing his arm like you hit it
- >Oh, NOW yer feeling remorseful
- >...
- >...
- >'Kay, now the silence is more awkward than heavenly
- "So, uh... who are you two?"
- >F -"Excuse me?"
- "I asked WHO ARE YOU TWO?"
- >He reels
- >F -"Eesh, no need to yell."
- >He clears his throat
- >F -"We are Toccata and Fugue Mignore, son of the late Father Diatoni Mignore of the Manehattan Church and Choir of Luna."
- >Wait...
- >Church?
- "She has a church?"
- >He gives a sigh like he's heard that line a thousand times and then some
- >F -"Yes. Though you might be one of the only ponies who knows it's a church. At this point it's basically just a choir service."
- >T -"No one ever comes to pray, considering how... unpopular she became after her banishment."
- >F -"So at this point, it's basically just a choir service. And the only thing left of our father's legacy."
- >T -"We've been trying to keep it together but..."
- >F -"No one really needs a choir service. And this was... basically the only shot to really keep the thing going."
- >So they were willing to kill a pony to keep their dad's church going?
- "Seems like an odd way to get money. How desperate were you? Couldn't you just get a normal job?"
- >F -"You think we didn't? It was a drain."
- >Things went quiet for a few seconds before he spoke back up
- >F -"What about you?"
- "Huh?"
- >F -"You. Who are you?"
- "Not much to tell. Lived on the streets most of my life. Figured it'd be a good way to get some quick bits."
- >F -"And YOU couldn't just get a normal job?"
- "Shut up."
- >It's not that you couldn't
- >You could totally get a job
- >It's just...
- >Shut up
- >F -"So, rather than take the opportunity of killing the ponies we've been contracted to kill and getting the money, you'd rather just bum around again?"
- >...
- "Good point."
- >You summon your Stand, slinking over to the nearby guard and grabbing a key ring from her back pocket
- >After testing each key, you find the right one and unlock the cell door
- >Just as you step out-
- >F -"*whisper* What? You're just going to step out and leave?"
- "You think this place has any actual security?"
- >F -"I'm pretty sure they'd increase security for Stand Users."
- >He's not wrong
- "So what do we do?"
- >A podium of white roots pops up from the ground, and he touches your foreleg, leaving an odd mark on it
- "What in tartarus? What's this?"
- >F -"It's a part of my Stand. With it, I'll be able to see things from your perspective, maybe help you point out things you miss."
- >Oooookay, whatever
- >Stepping as lightly as possible, you sneak your way through the building
- >If you remember correctly, this entire building is circular, and the holding cells are near the back, furthest from the entrance
- >YOU could easily sneak your way out, but...
- >What about the other two?
- >Hmmm...
- >You look around for any sort of thing you could use to cover more than one pony
- >Each of the nearby rooms are all different offices, none of which hold what you need
- >The next room you enter is some sort of office supply closet
- >Markers, staplers, a corkboard with a bunch of sticky notes and tacked on papers
- >"Feeling that corkboard were something that no pony could ever live without, Wooden Bit grabbed the one off the wall."
- >What are you ge-
- >Oh
- >Fugue, you brilliant son of a bitch!
- >Grabbing the board and using your Stand on it, you bring it back to the cell
- >With an easier way to escort another pony, you bring Toccata along (since Fugue still needs to keep watch with his Stand) and walk behind the corkboard against the wall
- >This makes the whole ride a lot smoother, and you both make it to the front of the building
- >The only things standing between you and freedom were a group of guards stationed near the front desk, talking amongst themselves
- >Should be easy enough to slip by
- >The two of you silently trudge along the wall, ensuring nopony sees you behind the corkboard
- >Almost there, just gotta get past the coat rack and-
- >*BUMP*
- >"What was that?"
- >Like lightning you grab the coat rack with your Stand
- >"Bah, it was probably nothing."
- >*Phew*
- >With little resistance from there on out, the two of you manage to make it out into the night, where two guards are standing at attention
- >After slipping behind them and leaving Toccata to hide in a nearby bush, You make your way back into the building
- >With a route through the building secured, you go back and lead Fugue out the same way
- >Toccata joins you two as you keep the board up behind you three towards the guards and gain some distance, eventually hiding yourself in a nearby alley
- >SUCCESS
- >Well, now that that's over with, it's time to finish what you started
- >F -"Well, that went... easier than expected."
- >T -"Yeah, right?"
- "Why wouldn't they try and maximize security around here?"
- >"Oh, they simply don't understand the power that Stands have..."
- >A deep voice sends a shudder down your spine
- >"...but they will."
- >A foreign appendage places itself onto your flank, and you quickly jump away
- >It's...
- >It's HIM!
- >"Good evening, Wooden Bit, Toccata, Fugue. What might you be doing up so late?"
