- Well, that's technically a lie. We did expect it, we expected it for a while actually. However, we didn't expect what came with the game. Now, allow me to say to probably a large amount of our readers most utter shock horror, that I have never in my life played a Fallout game. In fact, I don't play many Bethesda games. I only recently bought Skyrim because it was on sale, i'm the best part of four years out of the loop.
- However, my fate had become intertwined with Bethesda's and so I sat in my room at 3AM over here in sunny old England, and decided that since I was awake (Actually waiting for one of my colleagues to join me so we could play a game together,) I may as well watch the Bethesda stream that was about to start. Fallout 4 was the last thing they announced, the last item in a long line of interesting games.
- Now, as much as I'd love to write about the palpable atmosphere that could be seen both on the dozens of streams and in the audience themselves, I will instead write about the game and why I fully intend to purchase it as soon as I have the funds.
- Fallout 4 will have a similar dialogue system to the other Bethesda games available. With ABXY controlling your options on a console. You'll have a dog that can be controlled by pointing and clicking. Your dog can even pick up items such as wrenches from tables for you.
- The combat system will be almost identical to the previous fallout games that I have seen, although I'd have to play it to know how it actually feels. There will be fifty base weapons in the game and over 700 modifications that can be applied to the weapons. This will allow you to take a weapon and convert it to a totally different use case. On the stream they took a pistol and modified it to turn it into an automatic weapon.
- Now for, In my opinion, the best part of the entire game. In fallout you can rebuild. Every item in the game can be scrapped down to nothing and you can rebuild a settlement. It will have modular construction that requires the resources you collect from scrapping objects. This 'settlement' will be populated by NPC's. Traders and guards will move in and restart their lives in your little town, but beware, your 'settlement' will be attacked by raiders so you must defend it.
- You can station guards and turrets at the entrance to your settlement. Turrets and lights and possibly other objects will require energy and thus will require generators and power cables in your town. The generators will require fuel so it is assumed that you will have to do it manually though that could change between now and November 10th, the release date of Fallout 4.
