  1. Post SGDQ Pastebin
  2.
  3. So yeah… I’m going to do the general way too long “Back from SGDQ” pastebin.
  4.
  5. TLDR: My runs at SGDQ went as well as they could have gone, I had a blast and everybody was awesome with all of the support that I got (and hopefully gave). Working on new speedgames, going to have a 2,000 follower special, fun month and team announcements potentially incoming.
  6.
  7. I was involved in two runs, DKCTF and my own Catherine run. DKCTF was an absolute blast. I don’t think those runs could have been more exciting for a race, outside of a slightly better world 6 for MooMoo. The runners were always into it, it had the right amount of crazy awesome and just fun. Hobz did an amazing job carrying the Play-by-Play, Muncha played the tech details role perfectly, and I did a pretty okay job at doing color commentary. I think I did a good job of giving details, while staying excited and keeping hype. I think the two things I could have fixed here were talking a tad slower to give myself more time to think as I talked, and containing a little bit of my excitement to avoid cutting in on Hobz every now and then. Outside of that though, the race was amazing, and I hope it becomes something of a benchmark for how races are done in the future, not even necessarily relays. Hobz and Muncha have never run the game all that seriously, but they did an amazing job at commentating; I’d love to see another community with, say, 3 runners that wanted to race (and nobody else) reaching out to them as guns for hire and getting them to commentate it for them.
  8.
  9. Catherine was… an experience. For context, it got through the first round of cuts at AGDQ 2015 only to not make it through round 2, and ever since had been rejected first round. It finally gets in for SGDQ this year. I’d been to 4 GDQs before, and this was going to be the first run I’d ever do. Not only that, but the timeslot was way, way better than I’d anticipated.
  10.
  11. The run itself went about as well as I could have ever hoped. Deathless and a 26 on that stage is crazy good, and considering that I had to do the commentary as well, I couldn’t have asked for more. The commentary was fun, although again, spoke to fast at points, which didn’t give my brain a chance to catch up. It’s something I’ll work on though. I also made a like 2 second tangeant that I shouldn’t have which was dumb. Again, in the moment, just trying to juggle about 3 things, realized it as soon as I said it and just moved on.
  12.
  13. What I didn’t expect was how positive the reaction has been to the run. The poverty couch was packed. I’ve seen it on people’s favorite runs list, people kept telling me it was crazy… Heck, there were people that I didn’t expect to know my name that congratulated me on it. It’s been kinda surreal to be honest – I never expected a fun run that I did on one of my favorite puzzle games to become this. Thanks to everybody who supported Catherine; hopefully I get to do it again sometime.
  14.
  15. As for the event itself, I had an amazing time. I met and talked to so many people, some of whom I knew before, but just as many I’d never talked to. If I seemed a bit scatterbrained, sorry about that. Lots of things going on and people to talk to, and I’m not particularly social by nature, so… yeah. The only negative thing was that I don’t have my GCN to USB adapter because somebody (probably accidentally) took it and EVO is coming up this weekend.
  16.
  17. So on to stream things. I’m still working on learning speedgames, but, as always, slowly. I’m going to *hopefully* debut a pair of them in the near future. In the mean time, I’ll be going to EVO this weekend for Smash 4, and, much more importantly, I’ll be doing Competitive Catherine and streaming it to my channel. So look forward to that.
  18.
  19. Some more things, I actually jumped from under 1,500 followers to over 2,000, which is kinda crazy to be honest. Which means I should celebrate, and what way better than to fulfill an obligation to a bet. I made a bet with Spike that if he finished the 602, I’d match the length of that run on a stream of my own. So let’s do it, probably the week after I get back from EVO. I’m thinking something like this:
  20. Persona 3 Portable, Normal mode Speedrun
  21. Persona 4 Golden (Very) Hard mode Speedrun
  22. Mystery game speedrun
  23. Those three should cover most of the 30 hours or so I’ll need to do it. I may have dumb sub incentives to add games, change categories, etc. It should be a lot of fun, hopefully everybody sticks around.
  24.
  25. I also might start an “SMT Month” in August, capping it with the JP release of Persona 5. I’m not 100% sure what that would entail and I haven’t started planning it yet, but yeah, just wanted to get the idea out there.
  26.
  27. Last, I do have an announcement regarding the fact that I do now have a Twitch team, but I’ll put that out in a different paste that coincides with the rest of the team. If you’re dying to get a sneak peek, https://www.twitch.tv/team/thewanderers .
