  6.
  7. +Terran Downvale __ I don't know. The people who are selling the equipment could believe there is a real and manned "ISS". However - the fact "NASA" do not show ANY photos of the alleged "ISS" from Earth showing discernible details *suggests* they are aware that *ALL* such photos/footage are fake and fabricated (but they cannot say so!).
  8.
  9.
  10.
  11. From the footage I've seen which has the "satellite tracking" equipment - all you see is a tiny bright dot on the screen. Apparently "hundreds to thousands" of photos need to be taken.
  12.
  13.
  14.
  15. *And then through the "magic of image editing" we end up with brief animations of the alleged "ISS" with incredible details.*
  16.
  17.
  18.
  19. I am curious - have you seen any ads on YouTube selling telescopes? *I have.* And on some of my "ISS" videos/threads I am getting people who are citing links to images and posts that come from that *specific telescope maker.*
  20.
  21.
  22.
  23. _It's all very interesting._
  24.
  25.
  26.
  27. I have seen these kinds of scams in the past. Where a person spends a whole lot of money to obtain "the right equipment" but just can't quite seem to "reproduce the results".
  28.
  29.
  30.
  31. They end up blaming themselves. It is put down to not being skilled enough etc.
  32.
  33.
  34.
  35. Their phase of curiosity and interest passes (the "ISS" isn't that interesting and it is only seen occasionally for each person per month) and so the person either sells the equipment they bought or it gathers dust.
  36.
  37.
  38.
  39. *Expensive telescopes probably are looked after very well and can be refurbished as new.*
  40.
  41.
  42.
  43. This particular scam preys on the BELIEF the "ISS" *can* be discerned with details if only you have the RIGHT equipment.
  44.
  45.
  46.
  47. And there are a lot of "testimonials" of people who have "mixed success"! Some people seem to have *amazing* results - whereas other people have awful results.
  48.
  49.
  50.
  51. It's looking to be as simple as that.
  52.
  53.
  54.
  55. What the "bright light" really is - I have no idea. But when people show a small dot of light and then "zoom in" on it and get "amazing details" then I know I am seeing BS.
  56.
  57.
  58.
  59. It's like watching a "CSI" episode where they zoom in on a mirror reflection and suddenly they get a high resolution picture!
  60.
  61.
  62.
  63. At the moment - that's how it is looking. A way to take money from people with a bit of cash to burn who are looking for some "astronomy club kudos".
  64.
  65.
  66.
  67. *I suppose it gets pretty boring just looking at the same Moon and Planets every evening!*
