  1. An entrepreneur is someone who takes an idea and turns it into a way to make money without the feeling of actual work. Many entrepreneurs are successful because they love what they do. They are able to follow the american dream, a dream that I define as being better off socio-economically than one's parents. Tim Horton was a man who, despite never truly owning a business in america, was able to fulfill the american dream, though in Canada and not the United States.
  2. Beginning in High School, Tim Horton was quickly recognized for his hockey abilities and was drafted to the NHL straight from High School. During this time Horton was able to start a Studebaker dealership and a Hamburger restaurant, both of which were unsuccessful. In 1964, Horton opened the Tim Horton Doughnut Shop and began what would become the largest fast food franchise in Canada. By his death in 1974 he co-owned no less than forty stores. After he died his living relatives sold his shares to the other owner Ron Joyce, who then brought the company to its current level. in 2011, Tim Hortons' Inc. had a net profit of 400 million with over 3300 stores in Canada, over 700 in the U.S. and stores in multiple other countries including the U.K., Oman, and the UAE. Tim Hortons, which is now based in Oakville, Ontario, currently sells: coffee, donuts, breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, soups and various other frozen and hot beverages. Tim Hortons also carries on the community based tradition of charity that its founder started. As Tim Horton began his company, he held the community close to him, and was quoted as saying "This really isn't my event, it's for everyone involved. It's for the kids, adults and volunteers. They're the ones that make it happen and make it so special," about one of his charity events. His legacy lives on today as the founder of Canada's largest fast food company.
  3. Tim Horton was an entrepreneur who was able to keep touch with local communities. His generosity is something every entrepreneur should emulate, if they do not exceed it. His morals never changed despite his fame and popularity and is a good example of how every entrepreneur should behave.
