  1. - At the beginning of the conversation, Luke mentioned that their DNS mx record was pointing to mail.beracha.org. On a hunch I had him switch it to mail.tqinet.com. I don't know for sure that mail.beracha.org doesn't work - but I do know that mail.tqinet.com does work.
  2.
  3. - Created an address test@igmonline.org that delivers to my mailbox and sent a test message from my beracha and from my gmail to test delivery.
  4. * Successfully received both messages.
  5.
  6. - Sent a test message to Luke from both my beracha.org and my gmail accounts.
  7. * Received confirmation from Luke Newhart that they were delivered.
  8.
  9. - Attempted to send something from eTapestry to test@igmonline.org. This should deliver to me.
  10. * Successfully received report from eTapestry.
  11.
  12. - Attempted to send something from eTapestry to Luke's email.
  13. * Received confirmation from Luke that it was delivered.
  14.
  15. - Theories:
  16. * There was no issue at all with the server setup or any of our system. The error may have been in something else.
  17. * Changing that DNS MX record fixed the problem before I could start testing.
  18. * There may be an issue with an igmonline.org message being the sender…
  19.
  20. - Through the magic of PuTTy and Telnet I sent a test message from ljnewhart@igmonline.org to my beracha.org and gmail.com mailboxes
  21. * Both messages were successfully delivered.
  22.
  23. - Summary:
  24. * messages from eTapestry to igmonline.org email addresses have tested successfully.
  25. * messages from gmail addresses to igmonline.org email addresses have tested successfully.
  26. * messages from beracha addresses to igmonline.org email addresses have tested successfully.
  27. * messages from igmonline.org email addresses to beracha addresses have tested successfully.
  28. * messages from igmonline.org email addresses to gmail addresses have tested successfully.
  29. * So far, no errors or returned/undeliverable messages have occurred.
  30.
  31. - Attempted to try another e-mail account
  32. * Successfully sent from Tier 2 Support to pfram@igmonline.org
  33. * Successfully sent from my gmail.com to pfram@igmonline.org
  34. * Successfully sent from eTapestry to pfram@igmonline.org
  35. * Successfully sent from pfram@igmonline.org to my beracha.
  36. * Successfully sent from pfram@igmonline.org to my gmail.
  37.
  38. - The only item I'm waiting on is the eTapestry export to pfram, but don't anticipate that that will be a problem.
  39.
  40. - Received an e-mail from Luke that a message sent to achothe.portal@igmonline.org was not delivered.
  41. * Verified that the e-mail address is registered as expected.
  42. * There are messages in the igmportal inbox so it is supposedly working.
  43. * Sent time of the message currently in igmportal mailbox is 11:01 am today
  44. * Sent time of the message for which Luke received the undeliverable for is 11:00 am today
  45. * This is an instance of an undeliverable after the DNS MX record was changed.
  46. * Testing.....
  47. - Adjusting the achothe.portal@igmonline.org email address to deliver to my mailbox.
  48. * Sending from gmail........................Received
  49. * Sending from beracha......................Received
  50. * Sending from etapestry....................Received
  51. * Sending from igmonline.org................Not Yet Received.....
  52. - Message sent from ljnewhart@igmonline.org did not deliver
  53. - Message sent from test@igmonline.org did deliver.
  54. - let's try again.....
  55. - When I sent the test using telnet it did not go through. but when I sent the test using Thunderbird it did go through.....
  56. - Set it back to deliver to the portal and tested again:
  57. * Sending from etapestry......................Received
  58. * Sending from gmail..........................Received
  59. * Sending from beracha........................Received
  60. * Sending from ljnewhart via thunderbird......Received
  61. * Sending from ljnewhart via telnet...........Received
  62.
  63. - At this point I'm not sure if there's an outstanding issue.....
