  1. Qrow exhaled, having just finished clearing the Grimm from his section of the street. He looked behind him, Glynda was just finishing up as well. They weren't quite inside the city, trying to stop what Grimm they could before they entered and hoping that Ironwood's army could take care of the rest.
  2. He turned to the sound of something running towards him, only to find himself face-to-face with a group of kids. They looked vaguely familiar, probably one of Ozpin's student teams. They stopped a dozen yards from him, fear and confusion plastered on their dumb faces.
  3. "Look, kids. I can't keep you safe right now. Go join the rest of the civilians near the safe zone."
  4. "We're not kids!" The largest one was quick to speak up, causing Qrow to raise an eyebrow.
  5. "Yea, we're here to help." The shorter blonde chimes in immediately after.
  6. Qrow looks them over. They didn't look all that impressive, but tripling their numbers couldn't hurt.
  7. "Boys, can you see Vale?"
  8. They look at him, confused, before turning towards the city. Fires burned in the distance, the sound of Grimm and death echoing through the streets.
  9. "Yea, what about it?"
  10. Qrow huffed, "Beacon, the market, the residential district, Hero's Square, they're all crawling in Grimm.. Vale has become a synonym for hell."
  11. The boys faces drop slightly, but Qrow wasn't finished.
  12. "I've never liked Vale. It's an old city. I don't fit in here. But the bar Tai and I went to on the weekends served cold, tasty beers. That old bartender would constantly gossip and acted like a fool. He was an alright guy, though."
  13. "The," Qrow cleared his throat, "women at the hotel were all greedy for lien, and typically not the prettiest to look at. But still, they always took good care of me. I feel sorry for those tramps."
  14. Cardin's team looked around, not sure where he was going with this.
  15. "That grandpa working that stand near the market would always bring me some noodle bowl that I didn't order. He just served them to me because she saw me as a foreigner, and therefore I should try the Vale specialty. Each time I told him that I couldn't eat it because it's too much noodles for my tastes. And each time I ended up eating it tooth and nail anyway, as to not disappoint the old man."
  16. "Uh, sir..?"
  17. "I don't like Vale. But the bartenders, and the women, and then man at the stand... None of them had anything to do with this battle. This war... The White Fang and Grimm... They're all irrelevant in their eyes. That bitch Cinder, her lackeys, Ozpin's inner circle.. Those names were completely meaningless to a bunch of innocents like them."
  18. Qrow was getting visibly anger, and the students weren't sure if they should be in front of him when he finally finished.
  19. "Now they're all dead, and Grimm are feasting on them. I just can't stand it! We've got to slaughter these Grimm without mercy. We'll make those fucks regret the day that they formed."
  20. Qrow was calming down, his eyes turning towards the next wave of Grimm.
  21. "Yea.. I get ya.. Let's do it." The larger kid didn't sound too sure, but it still made Qrow smile slightly as the rest nodded.
  22. "Then you three spread out east, you watch here. Don't let anything past you."
