- [07:46] <Aphotix> woo first draft of BBB guide is finally done
- [07:46] <Aphotix> https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cFF43KV3d6ZEso4dNpWQyPJ4NQkSr4lngynv94r2lDQ/edit
- [07:46] <Aphotix> thelo can give me suggestion on that
- [07:46] <Aphotix> whenever he's around
- [07:46] <Aphotix> be back tomorrow night
- [07:47] <@Thelo> hmm
- [07:47] <@Thelo> "he does not have very damage efficient cards"
- [07:47] * LameGuest_128 (Mibbit@mib-2FB33DBF.cg.shawcable.net) has joined #sirlin
- [07:47] <@Thelo> except headbutt, cogshot, beta thrust
- [07:47] * LameGuest_128 is now known as avz
- [07:48] <@Thelo> beta thrust and to a lesser degree cogshot are notable because they work fine without big hands
- [07:49] <@Thelo> and also they tend to own jabs and fireballs
- [07:50] <@Thelo> so the options to exist, they're just not quite as frequent as you'd like
- [07:50] <@Thelo> *do exist
- [07:51] <@Thelo> "In general, BBB does not want to dodge at close, but if the opponent has an attack that can outspeed Piston Hurricane, BBB has to add dodge into his repertoire." actually that is the wrong close-dodge criterion imo, it's more about them being in the endgame or not
- [07:51] <@Thelo> such that you wouldn't really get to use them at range later anyway
- [07:52] <@Thelo> "Doding during overdrive", typo
- [07:54] <@Thelo> "It is ultra important to hold on to these cards to maximize the effectiveness of range." I would actually mention that you only need ONE of each card, because you recur them
- [07:54] <@Thelo> having three in hand doesn't actually help
- [07:54] <DredNicolson> Even if you lose range on a turn you use one, you still get it back.
- [07:55] <DredNicolson> (Cheap!)
- [07:56] <@Thelo> In the card breakdown, I'd mention that 3 is your *only* odd range normal, which makes it unusually valuable for an otherwise lame card
- [07:56] <@Thelo> especially against Zane
- [08:00] <@Thelo> About the ace, I'd mention to try to keep one ace during range because it's your best ender after hitting with a normal, and also that the use of Piston Hurricane vs Beta Thrust as a poke depends a lot on whether the opponent has a real attack in [0.4..1.4]. For instance you don't really want to Piston Hurricane much against Geiger since Beta Thrust already beats everything Piston Hurricane does, but you might want to against Midori, where it beats dQ where Beta Thrust doesn't
- [08:01] <@Thelo> Typo in vs Grave, "do you will have"
- [08:04] <@Thelo> vs Onimaru I would say to be more liberal than usual in throwing out normals
- [08:05] <@Thelo> for once you have a fair chance of winning attack vs attack
- [08:06] <@Thelo> in the BBB mirror, I would highlight the importance of close Cog Shot, which both deals a lot of damage and tends to outspeed the other BBB's everything
- [08:06] <@Thelo> notably all normals including the headbutt
- [08:07] <DredNicolson> Especially since being at close is going to be a rare thing.
- [08:07] <@Thelo> right
- [08:07] <@Thelo> on Gwen, "Also remember that she has a special block that prevents range from happening" this is false
- [08:08] <Shiri> yeah it's not chip damage like you would think
- [08:08] <@Thelo> BBB gains range even against special blocks
- [08:08] <Shiri> it's just "when blocked"
- [08:08] <@Thelo> I would also say to be absolutely shameless about chaining dodges at range because stalling is perfectly fine against Gwen
- [08:09] <@Thelo> also that your 2 beats her starter J but your 3 notably doesn't, which makes a huge difference
- [08:10] <@Thelo> and then also she loves to 10-block at range so keep your 3 to mixup past that damn thing after a landed K-throw
- [08:11] <@Thelo> the rest seems pretty good!
