  1. Frequently Asked Questions:
  2.
  3. **What is Mox Alpha?**
  4. Mox Alpha is a paid tool that lets you estimate the value of sealed products. The two most useful datapoints for the majority of people are "Average EV" and "Average Pro Total". It is not perfectly accurate, it is an estimate.
  5.
  6. **What is Average EV?**
  7. EV stands for Estimated Value. It's calculated by using third-party probabilities to simulate the contents of 360,000 booster packs representing 10,000 booster boxes, then pricing each card according to TCGplayer prices. It should go without saying that this is not guaranteed and luck will affect your actual values.
  8.
  9. **What is Average Pro Total**
  10. Average Pro Total is the estimated value of the product minus any seller fees. It uses Pro Seller fee percentages by default, which is close enough for a rough estimate. Remember that besides TCGplayer market fees, there is always an additional credit card transaction fee of $0.30 + 3.5%. This fixed 30 cents makes lower value cards have much higher derived total fees as a percent, which is why the average is between 25% and 30%, depending on the set. Higher value cards have lower average fees.
  11.
  12. **What is a floor and what is it set at?**
  13. Setting a price floor in Mox Alpha will return EV and Pro Totals with cards greater than that threshold. I set the floor to $0.25 because that's also my floor when reselling on TCGplayer.
  14.
  15. **Which number should I look at?**
  16. If you're simply a fan of the cards and are building your collection, you can use EV when determining if a deal you find is worth buying. If you're cracking sealed product to resell single cards, use Average Pro Total as a guide to determine profitability. A positive Average Pro Total (Mox Alpha value minus sale price) is generally worth buying. Obviously if you're an investor in sealed product, neither number will matter much to you, as you're speculating that the product will appreciate in value. Investors usually only care about sealed market price, be it TCGplayer, eBay or otherwise.
  17.
  18. **Does it also have TCGs like Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, Lorcana, etc?**
  19. They currently offer EV analysis on sealed products for Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana and Star Wars: Unlimited. I would expect some day they'll expand to others, but have not seen any firm commitments to do so.
  20.
  21. **How quickly are they able to update with new set releases?**
  22. Typically they have new sets a few weeks after launch, but occassionally it will take longer. They have a form to request a product be added to their site, be it brand new or older. The request form is here: https://forms.gle/JZ72ysAYuh2uwFwU7
  23.
  24. **How much does Mox Alpha cost?**
  25. $468.00 per year.
  26.
  27. **Is Mox Alpha worth the fee?**
  28. If you're a large reseller cracking dozens of boxes at a time to sell singles from, yes. If you're a casual collector, sealed investor or smaller shop, probably not. I sell around $3,000 a month in singles and don't really feel it's worth it yet. As I grow that may change. I do enjoy sharing the information with you guys though, so that gives me some additional value.
  29.
  30. **Can I pay you for your services?**
  31. I'm certain taking money for access to this information would get me in some kind of trouble. Sharing it for free is already a gray area. If you do happen to find any great deals though, I'd love a DM with a heads up before you share with the world.
  32.
  33. **Can I direct message you with additional questions or to run an EV report for me?**
  34. Sure! I have a life though and might be asleep, so don't always expect an immediate response.
