  1. What we are not.
  2. We are not big brother. We plan to co-operate with the federal/local governments. We want to be the medium between you and your competitors to keep your assets and resources private while at the same time bringing everyone together. We are not left / right wing. We are aiming for right down the middle to serve everyone equally.
  3.
  4. What is it?
  5.
  6. PhoneSnake.com is member of the Open Hot List network a collaborative effort to reduce interstate – cross jurisdiction theft. In no way is this project a means of collecting private consumer statistics. It’s only here to educate people on the idea of keeping track of equipment serial numbers before theft occurs so they are prepared when co-operating with law enforcement to track down their personal belongings. We all work too hard for the things we possess we don’t need help loosing these things.
  7.
  8. The costs to you! Also applications!
  9. We plan to deliver this service at a nominal cost of 50 dollars per month per state, per database that the company/office resides. If you only have one office and teams throughout the US the price will not change. We plan on delivering iphone and android apps to allow your employees to use their smart phones to scan equipment barcodes, enter descriptions, track GPS coordinates or the equipment. At a nominal cost of 5 dollars per year per phone that it is used on with bulk discount pricing. We plan on making applications to allow teams to quickly issue Returned Material Assess electronically and to be printed out in pdf, excel, or stored in Lotus formats.
  10.
  11. For companies with these systems already in place internally we offer to develop a API (application interface) to your current system at affordable rates just like the data management costs.
  12.
  13. Why?
  14. For the people living near a state line who get burglarized and the stolen goods are reported in one state but are actually taken to the next closest state that has no record of the theft and sold. Another scenario is little Jimmys’ Xbox is stolen and put on Ebay or CraigsList.org and shipped across the country and there is no way of identifying the equipment as being stolen because there is no record of the serial number belonging to the owner. Maybe Little Jimmys’ Laptop is stolen in the morning and the hoodlums took it down to the pawn shop hours before the theft was noticed by that time the item has been sold and is sitting on a shelf, did you keep a record of the serial numbers?
  15. Another example is a personal experience of one of the members of this project. Originally he was in the wireless industry and witnessed tons of thefts occur because of poor material tracking. On the Clear Wire project a co-worker left multiple markets with 20k plus in equipment and then months later sold the items on ebay yielding 5K plus from the sell. This doesn’t just happen to Clear Wire but other carriers also ATT, TMobile, Verizon, Criket. We are sure this happens to many companies not just the wireless carriers. This all could have been prevented before the sell of the items, and they could have been notified of the theft and reclaimed their equipment.
  16.
  17. What we need from you!
  18. We need funding to bring the teams together to put this system into place.
