  1. Okay so this is gonna be a really long document but I, like many other people, were disappointed with Neil Druckman's direction in TLOU 2 so I decided to make something that'd at least improve it in my eyes, it's gonna be in multiple parts so here we go.
  2.
  3. First off, Story:
  4.
  5. I'd keep the original storyline with the addition of a choice system, which adds on more storylines and multiple endings to the game, with the base game storyline being adjacent to the absolute worst possible outcome you can get. I'd give the player agency in choosing how Joel, Ellie, and Abby act and on top of that I'd make it possible for no one to actually die and for you to be able to save everyone. One of these options would be to have Joel lie about who he is as a means of protecting him and Ellie from the Fireflies. I'd make it to where out of a sense of guilt Joel would team up with the fireflies while hiding his and Ellie's identities. The story would revolve around rebuilding society to an extent as well as seeking repentance for Joel's actions as well as still exploring the themes of forgiveness and how the cycle of violence isn't worth it. I'd make it to where if you chose the "Good" path Abby and Ellie would begin to interact more and start acting like sisters and bonding deeply and Joel as well would begin to slowly change as he realized the extent of the consequences of his actions and become something of a surrogate father figure to abby as well and the climax of the game if you chose to save Joel would hinge on a new detail, Joel finding old firefly documents revealing that Abby is one of the few people immune to the virus and that her father protected her from that fate in the same vein as Joel did. This would lead to him revealing who he is to Abby after spending months helping the fireflies collect gear, supplies, knowledge, working machinery, and everything which they've used to build a hell of a settlement and a place of hope and a future for many that seek it out. This would cause...conflict to say the least and you as the player and as abby would be given the choice, continue the cycle of violence and kill Joel, or spare him and accept that people can change and that forgiveness is a more righteous path?
  6.
  7. There'd be different endings depending on your actions, the best ending being that a settlement has been forged for the world and that a bunch of lost medical knowledge has led to a cure for the virus being found without anyone needing to have their brain harvested. The Worst ending would be much like the original game with the addition of Ellie killing Abby and then as she sees what she's done as she comes home to an empty house, she turns her gun on herself and kills herself. Ending the cycle of violence with a final splash of blood. There are a bunch of other smaller details i've come up with but this is generally the idea, giving the player choice while expanding on the story and world as well as just generally making all the characters deeper and more relatable.
  8.
  9. Gameplay:
  10.
  11. I'd overhaul the gameplay entirely to where if you choose the worst path it plays like the original game as a sort of...in-game punishment for choosing violence over stealth or forgiveness, locking off many parts of the game in exchange for tons of combat encounters. In the other path more gameplay features are unlocked as Joel, Abby, and Ellie all become playable characters with their own forms of gameplay. Joel would be chosen for "Scavenging" missions, where you explore multiple open world environments to find not only lost books of knowledge, machinery that can still be salvaged, as well as caches of armor, weapons, and various other supplies and the like for the fireflies, but also find survivors which can be recruited to help out the fireflies. Ellie's gameplay would revolve around Stealth, Movement, and Scouting, basically exploring multiple areas to unlock and find places for Joel to come in and scavenge with both of them having the option of using supplies they've found to take care of nests and areas of high zombie activity. Abby would be a tank and a fighter, her missions would revolve around combat areas and busting up groups of raiders on top of the zombies to lower the danger rating of areas and making them safer.
  12.
  13. Each one of them would have upgrades revolving around their gameplay which change their visual look, Like Joel getting a pair of binoculars that appear on his person, Ellie getting a grappling hook and a large knife, and Abby getting salvaged kevlar armor as well as better weaponry and each one having unique styles and specific missions for each of them as well as multiple missions revolving around side characters and expanding the lore and story of the Last of Us Universe. You'd have multiple options when it comes to combat depending on who you're playing as and there's no fucking dog killing because that's a cheap fucking gimmick to force an emotional response from the player in the way it was implemented in TLOU 2, instead there are infected animals as the virus has managed to evolve and adapt and become more dangerous that you have to fight on top of the regular mushroom heads. Basically the game has evolved into a Base Building and Exploration style of game and revolves more around rebuilding society and all the characters involved in doing that! Evolving the naughty dog style of linear games into something more open-ended and satisfying!
  14.
  15. This is all i can really think of right now but I hope some people like the ideas i've put out!
