  1. <Irune> Should we rewind to a point on the flight, or just do the briefing later and continue on with your own Arkalplans for now?
  2. <~Arkalest> the latter
  3. <~Arkalest> sjustthell them ooc
  4. <Jane> Irune would have covered her conclusions about what we're facing?
  5. <Akram> just tell us, assume there was time on the flight or something
  6. <Irune> Arright.
  7. <Irune> The Worm: Not intentionally created. It's a human being.
  8. <Cornuthaum> 3) (Irune) I guess nobody recovered to be able to hear Irune's briefing on the way then?
  9. <Cornuthaum> well
  10. <Cornuthaum> you can try to talk to gregor
  11. <Cornuthaum> :V
  12. <Jane> :p
  13. <Jo> Gregor in a can does not make a good conversasionalist.
  14. <Irune> You know how uploads into Evangelions can sometimes create some transmission errors and kill the Serpent? They can also mutate the Serpent. And so can an upload into, say, a Dirac pocket.
  15. <Irune> The Worm was most likely created when a member of the First was uploaded into that dirac pocket.
  16. <Irune> And their Serpent just kinda... broke.
  17. <Jo> Oooh. Void adaptation!
  18. <Jane> Irune doesn't think it was intentional.?
  19. <Irune> It's error. It's plausible that it's intentional but 'transmission error' suggests that it was a result nobody actually expected. The Worm hates the result too, it seems.
  20. <Irune> Because...
  21. <Irune> Remember the terraforming the False Angel performed?
  22. <Irune> It was reverting to an older, far older, ancient Earth. Older even than the Conquerors. Old enough to be the First.
  23. <Shula> its a traaaap
  24. <Sam> Clearly
  25. <Irune> The False Angels are some mix between repurposed Ancestral terraformers and human-built - we're essentially fighting the equivalent of a Roomba with a knife duct-taped to it.
  26. <Jane> Ah, good old NERV Boston
  27. <Irune> And the humans that built them are the First.
  28. <Irune> Now remember, Diluvio's words? He always talked about us as 'crashing into our design'.
  29. <Irune> Our design - he speaks not as a deployable weapon or a subordinate agent but as one of the plotters.
  30. <Irune> The False Angels aren't commanded by the Wormed Progenitors.
  31. <Irune> They command the Wormed Progenitors.
  32. <Irune> Because they are terminals. They're remote-controlled drones.
  33. <Irune> Access points allowing the Worm to control a body down here on Earth.
  34. <Jo> !dr 70 sweep for buuuugs.
  35. <Dicebottiel> Jo: 52 Success by 1 degree!
  36. <Irune> Or more accurately, the Worms.
  37. <Irune> Because it's not just one person up in that Dirac pocket.
  38. <Irune> It's a whole bushel of them, and they don't even goddamn get along - Seraph and Diluvio prioritize fighting each other more than they do fighting us.
  39. <Irune> The Worm's fully developed, visible form? A hydra.
  40. * Jane (Strypgia@1933CD2D.F1D00A8D.CFFAA26B.IP) Quit (Ping timeout: 126 seconds)
  41. <Irune> The Worm's trend towards failure is because it's not advancing one plan, it's advancing a half-dozen that aren't even compatible.
  42. <Jo> Yaay
  43. <Jo> 1 degree ofnsuccess for buuuug sweeping.
  44. <Jo> Arkalest. Are there bugggs?
  45. <~Arkalest> Yes.
  46. <Jo> So are these ince again embedded in the structure.
  47. <~Arkalest> They're built directly into the supermateiral that makes up the skeleton of the building
  48. <~Arkalest> and they are half a centimeter across
  49. <~Arkalest> there's a lot of them
  50. <~Arkalest> 20 for square meter
  51. * Strypgia (Strypgia@1933CD2D.F1D00A8D.CFFAA26B.IP) has joined #AdEva3
  52. * Strypgia is now known as Jane
  53. <Irune> ... No responses after I drop like three plotbombs simultaneously?
  54. <Irune> ;_;
  55. <Jane> I was waiting for you to finish. Interesting...
  56. <Irune> The Worm was, I think, created as an ark.
  57. <Irune> After the First broke everything, the world was fucked too.
  58. <Irune> Extinction was inevitable so they send people to safety - a dirac pocket - and left terraforming units on the ground controlled by them.
  59. <Irune> Then the refugees sent into that Dirac pocket... broke.
  60. <Jane> Also my connection is spotty as Hell. I'm literally crossing the Mobile delta right now
  61. * Irune patpats.
  62. <Irune> I'll pack it up as log for you.
  63. <Jane> What did Hikmat and Tarane get up to?
  64. * Sam has no idea what he's doing or if it's a good idea
  65. <Irune> Oh god what are you sticking your soul into now?
  66. <Akram> it's not a good idea
  67. <Akram> stop
  68. <Akram> stop
  69. <Akram> quit it you fucker
  70. <Jane> Lol
  71. <Sam> It's too late for that!
  72. <Jane> Sam gotta Sam
  73. <Irune> Command's origin point is harder to lock down, but they are comparable to the Worm.
  74. <Sam> "I AIN'T GOT TIME TO THINK! I GOTTA GO AND DO SHIT!"
  75. <Irune> Unknown whether it's a singular or plural group of Dirac uploads but it's far more dangerous than the Worm because it seems able to agree on a single plan, and it doesn't seem like their Serpent broke.
  76. <Irune> The Omega drones aren't a superweapon.
  77. <Irune> They're Command's equivalent of the False Angels - terminals allowing them to access the world and stride across it as immortal posthuman gods.
  78. <Irune> After they have rewritten that world via Instrumentality, defined it to their tastes.
  79. <Irune> (At least part of this Instrumentality is likely 'peel the Worm out of everyone', but considering the rest is 'become god-king of a world written to our tastes', let's call this not Plan A for de-worming)
  80. <Sam> Gregor: Hang 10 or so here, gotta take care of something
  81. <Gregor> it'S ok i need to write a bit more anyways
  82. <Jane> Irune: something like SEELE in canon

  136. [15:14] <Josephine> The box is just big enough to fit both Jane and Jo."
  137. [15:17] <~Arkalest> THe first thing you hear is muttering in Russian as someone adjusts the lens of the camera- Which then focuses up, showing some sort of metallic catwalk. It seemingly spans the length of a rocky cavern filled with stalagmnites and stalactites, and the catwalk is covered in lights- And enginners wearing primitve HAZMAT suits
  138. [15:18] <Jane_Tsai> "You know any Russian, Jo?"
  139. [15:18] <Josephine> "No."
  140. [15:19] <Josephine> "I don't htink any of us knows Russian."
  141. [15:21] <Jane_Tsai> "Damn. I'll try to get an estimate of age off their gear, but Russians are always using old shit anyhow..."
  142. [15:21] <~Arkalest> The men on the catwalk are all pointing down to the bottom-right of the screen- And muttering between themsselves-
  143. [15:21] <Josephine> "Bet they are soviets."
  144. [15:21] <~Arkalest> Whoever is holding the camera is running commentary on it, pointing at the various lights and engineers
  145. [15:24] <Jane_Tsai> "Could be. Their gear is old enough. Hard to tell. Russians never throw anything away."
  146. [15:26] <Jane_Tsai> "Objekt 901? Hmm... and Helios..."
  147. [15:26] <~Arkalest> Eventually, the man steps into the lights- You see the white rock glitter weirdly..ANd you also see how sleek the curves are.. How.. Organic. He turns..
  148. [15:26] <~Arkalest> And points downwards.
  149. [15:26] <~Arkalest> At the TRIDENT.
  150. [15:26] <~Arkalest> That is growing out of the floor.
  151. [15:26] <~Arkalest> Or rather
  152. [15:26] <~Arkalest> At the vaguely TRIDENT-like /thing/ that is growing out of the white floor-
  153. [15:27] <Jane_Tsai> "That's...been there a while."
  154. [15:27] <~Arkalest> The head vaguely looks like a TRIDENT's- The main body config, with six limbs- Vaugely looks like a TRIDENT.
  155. [15:27] <Josephine> "I'd better get it digitised."
  156. [15:28] <Josephine> "Tape isn't exactly the longest lasting storage medium."
  157. [15:28] <~Arkalest> It looks like some sort of candle-wax statue raising up from the ground-
  158. [15:28] <Jane_Tsai> "Indeed."
  159. [15:30] <~Arkalest> Josephine: You notice that the lower parts of the TRIDENT look.. Thinner, as if they were still in the process of solidfying..
  160. [15:31] <~Arkalest> The face of the "machine" has six empty eye-sockets of a sort, with a seventh on its forehead
  161. [15:31] <Josephine> "Huh. I think that the room grew the Trident."
  162. [15:31] <Jane_Tsai> "Seven eyes...."
  163. 06[15:31] * Josephine hisses at the sight of the face."
  164. [15:31] <Jane_Tsai> "Fuck."
  165. [15:31] <Josephine> "The Serpent."
  166. 06[15:31] * Jane_Tsai nods
  167. [15:31] <Josephine> "And now we know why the tape is called basilisk."
  168. [15:32] <Jane_Tsai> "A serpent type...aye."
  169. [15:32] <~Arkalest> The man's hand traces the contours of the machine as he gestures to each part and speaks out in a descriptive tone, his finger tracing invisible diagrams in the air- He starts from the "upper" back, and then points at the center- then at the head.
  170. [15:33] <Josephine> "I don't think it's a statue."
  171. [15:33] <Jane_Tsai> "I don't either. It looks like it was buried... or grown there."
  172. [15:33] <Josephine> "Grown. Look at the legs."
  173. [15:33] <Josephine> "It's like reverse candle wax."
  174. [15:34] <~Arkalest> There's a brief burst of static as the man gestures at the stalactites and then at the machine- As to emphasize something-
  175. [15:34] <Josephine> "As in I think it's a actual trident."
  176. 06[15:34] * Jane_Tsai nods
  177. [15:34] <Jane_Tsai> "An original model."
  178. [15:37] <~Arkalest> He walks forward- Towards a bulkhead that looks like as if it was drilled into the side of the cavern- And opens it with one hand- Showing a small tunnel of the same white rock the cavern was made of. As he walks into the metallic catwalks place inside it, you notice something strange.
  179. [15:39] <~Arkalest> The camerman's movements are.. Somewhat incautious. He advances- And you notice several smaller holes in the walls- Perfectly circular-
  180. [15:39] <~Arkalest> On the floor, there are massive, vein-like silver strands interwoved with the white rock-
  181. [15:41] <~Arkalest> His movements are precise as he points his index finger at them- And then taps his leg, running the finger on the side to indicate something- And then he walks into another bulkhead-
  182. [15:42] <Jane_Tsai> "Why would this tape be included in things your mother had? Odd."
  183. [15:42] <~Arkalest> That leads to a massive horizontal cylinder-shaped room..Filled with beehive-like structures all around- More passageways are clamped to them, and the room is big enough that one honeycomb is big enough to swallow a whole excavator and have room for more.
  184. [15:43] <~Arkalest> There is.. Something lying on the floor.
  185. [15:43] <~Arkalest> It looks like an Angel and an Evangelion put together-
  186. [15:44] <~Arkalest> It has two massive pylon-like things growing diagonally from its shoulders- A thin neck ending in an Angel mask- A bulging chestplate with a spherical bump that looks Core-sized- No torso to speak of, only a spinal column connecting to its insetoid legs
  187. [15:44] <Jane_Tsai> "Relative of our Evas? Does Azazel recognize it?"
  188. [15:45] <Josephine> "Well she had a piece of soviet era geofrontium with her."
  189. 06[15:45] * Josephine taps the knife.
  190. [15:45] <~Arkalest> Josephine: |No.|
  191. [15:45] <Josephine> "Nope."
  192. [15:45] <Josephine> "She does no."
  193. [15:45] <Josephine> |do you recognise it?|
  194. [15:45] <~Arkalest> Jane_Tsai: |It's.. I have the feeling I should recognize this, but it feels... Alien to me. It's not Adam-made..|
  195. [15:45] <~Arkalest> Zeruel sounds somewhat piqued at her lack of knowledge.
  196. [15:47] <~Arkalest> Your friendly Russian recorder points at the Core and makes a clokwise motion, before drawing a line between the mask and the honeycombs..
  197. [15:47] <Jane_Tsai> |Hmm... Oh?! Zeruel?! You're alright?! I was so worried, dear one! I missed you!"
  198. [15:47] <~Arkalest> He zooms onto the honeycombs..
  199. [15:48] <Jane_Tsai> "Do... they come from the honeycombs?"
  200. [15:48] <~Arkalest> And you notice a red light pulsating through their walls, wasp-like forms curled inside..
  201. [15:48] <~Arkalest> Jane_Tsai: |I am mildly inconvenienced.|
  202. [15:48] <Jane_Tsai> "Oh shit.... they're... /active/? Alive after how long? And... this looks like something my mother showed me a flash of..."
  203. 06[15:48] * Josephine focuses on the forms inside the honey combs."
  204. [15:49] <~Arkalest> Josephine: They're not wasps- Judging by the distance, they should be at least human-sized...
  205. [15:49] <Jane_Tsai> |As long as you are still alive, that is enough. Where are you? Is there anything I can do to aid you in healing?|
  206. [15:49] <~Arkalest> A burst of static, and then the man is standing on a platform overlooking...
  207. [15:49] <~Arkalest> Something that looks like Zeruel's Angel-form..
  208. [15:50] <Josephine> "Well. Zeruel seems to be... Russian."
  209. [15:50] <~Arkalest> Seemingly melting out of a wall- They're both inside a circular cavern.
  210. [15:50] <Jane_Tsai> "It... kind of looks like her. But it's not..." |Is it?|
  211. [15:50] <~Arkalest> Jane_Tsai: |Just.. Stand there..And.. I do not know. My mind is not in the best of shapes. But.. Do not worry.
  212. [15:50] <~Arkalest> |........................................Sister.|
  213. [15:52] <Jane_Tsai> |One of yours? And I empathize. My mother did... many and unknown things to shape my mind. Parts of it are yet hidden from me.|
  214. [15:52] <~Arkalest> The man turns around, still speaking as he gesticulates and walks out-
  215. [15:52] <Jane_Tsai> "We need to find a Russian speaker we can trust to translate this."
  216. [15:52] <Jane_Tsai> "Or give me a few weeks to learn it."
  217. [15:52] <Josephine> "I can get Mari to do it."
  218. [15:52] <~Arkalest> Walks out of the catwalk, and into an enclosed metallic room- No, an elevator.. Which starts to raise-
  219. [15:52] <Josephine> "She needs to know as well."
  220. [15:53] <~Arkalest> The elevator raises up- And from one window you catch a glimpse of something massive.
  221. [15:53] <~Arkalest> Something white- Like bone.
  222. [15:53] <~Arkalest> The room the man steps into next is some sort of planning center-
  223. [15:53] <Jane_Tsai> "This is probably somewhere deep in Russia. I don't recognize the geology, but I'll bet it's that site in Siberia where all the strange stuff is going on..."
  224. [15:54] <~Arkalest> however, he is far too fast in moving the camera- He points it at a gigantic map-
  225. [15:54] <~Arkalest> Representing the world-
  226. [15:54] <~Arkalest> There are three places circled in red.. Siberia..
  227. [15:54] <~Arkalest> East of South america..
  228. [15:54] <~Arkalest> And Dharma..
  229. 06[15:54] * Jane_Tsai memorizes the map.
  230. [15:54] <Jane_Tsai> "Xibalba?"
  231. [15:54] <~Arkalest> There is something.. Something drawn underneath...
  232. [15:55] <~Arkalest> A flash of spread wings- Of vertebrae-
  233. [15:55] <~Arkalest> And then
  234. [15:55] <~Arkalest> And then he turns-
  235. [15:55] <~Arkalest> Josephine: Jane_Tsai It's beautiful.
  236. [15:56] <~Arkalest> Its wings clip- No- Its wings had the rock grown around it-
  237. 06[15:56] * Jane_Tsai blinks. "What?"
  238. [15:56] <~Arkalest> The lights of the reflectors barely shine on something that would be at least a kilometer long-
  239. [15:56] <~Arkalest> Its Angel-mask-like face- Seven-eyed- Pointed at the ceiling-
  240. [15:56] <~Arkalest> The sky-whale of Jo's dream.
  241. [15:56] <~Arkalest> And the man..
  242. [15:57] <~Arkalest> He says only one thing.
  243. [15:57] <~Arkalest> "Objekt 901."
  244. [15:57] <Josephine> "Object 901. That Whale."
  245. [15:57] <Josephine> "I dreamt of it before."
  246. [15:57] <Jane_Tsai> "Well, there's a new search term for us to dig on... wait, you have? /Dreamnt/ of it?"
  247. [15:57] <Josephine> "Yea."
  248. [15:57] <~Arkalest> The tape ends.
  249. [15:58] <Josephine> "Same dream with all the Geofrontium formulae I got that day y'all brough the odd balls to the cages."
  250. [15:59] <Jane_Tsai> "Huh.... maybe we should to brain scans on you, too."
  251. [15:59] <Josephine> |what is it? Have you seen something like this before?|
  252. [15:59] <~Arkalest> |I.... it doesn't look like it belongs in my Brood...|
  253. [15:59] <Josephine> |So, it's a angel?|
  254. [15:59] <Josephine> |Just not one of your kin?|
  255. [16:00] <~Arkalest> |A construct, more like.| Interjects Zeruel.
  256. [16:00] <Josephine> "Huh."
  257. [16:00] <Josephine> "I'll bring the tape to Mari."
  258. [16:00] <~Arkalest> |Its size would fit our brood, but it looks like.. Some sort of carrier.| She adds.
  259. [16:01] <Jane_Tsai> "Someone trying to /build/ their own Angels?"
  260. [16:01] <Josephine> |Carrier?|
  261. [16:01] <Josephine> |As in transport smaller less independant organisms?|
  262. [16:01] <~Arkalest> |Yes.|
  263. [16:01] <~Arkalest> |A drone unit, if you wish.|
  264. [16:02] <Josephine> "Huh."
  265. [16:02] <Josephine> "Well."
  266. 06[16:02] * Josephine starts to dissemble fort kickass.
  267. [16:02] <Josephine> "I have to bring the tape to Mari."
  268. [16:03] <Josephine> "And then figure out which /idiot/ replaced my plug suit with one that is bright pink."
  269. 06[16:03] * Jane_Tsai nods. "I hope she knows Russian. Or we can get BABEL back soon. I'm sure they could real-time translate it, and I trust them."
  270. [16:04] <Josephine> "Well. If you want to look at the box further, here's the keys."
  271. 06[16:04] * Josephine passes the keys to Jane."
  272. [16:04] <Josephine> "I have to go see Mari."
  273. 06[16:04] * Josephine leaves the room.
  274. 02[16:05] * Josephine (mail@4CC8A2AB.18B4F95A.8CBA7782.IP) Quit (Connection reset by peer)
  275. 06[16:07] * Jane_Tsai ponders the tape as she disposes of any signs they were there. |I am overjoyed to hear your voice again, dear one. I... almost lost myself when I though you killed, even within my alt-mode. How soon will you be restored to health?|
  276. [16:08] <~Arkalest> |Do not be so melodramatic. It's ill-befitting. And.. It will take years to restore myself to full power. In the meantime, however, I can serve as an Unit.|
  277. 02[16:11] * Cornuthaum (cor@SystemNet-E07EB6AB.vie.surfer.at) Quit (Ping timeout: 120 seconds)
  278. [16:11] <Jane_Tsai> |Yes dear. But you underestimate your importance to me. It was illuminating nontheless. It did teach me that even my alt-mode does not truly erase my emotions, merely occlude them, and that it has limits. I look forward to riding into battle with you again.|
  279. 03[16:12] * Cornuthaum (cor@SystemNet-E07EB6AB.vie.surfer.at) has joined #AdEva3IC
  280. [16:12] <Jane_Tsai> |In the meantime, we have learned things about our Adversary...| Jane fills Zeruel in on all they know about the Serpent, Gregor's family, etc.
