Jalen: *having never tried snowboarding before, decides to go to the top of the tallest relatively clear hill and learn that way* *all is going well until he gets close to the bottom, when he loses his balance and swerves to keep from falling over* *unfortunately this puts him right in the path of Claire's snowman, and he only has time to brace himself before plowing through it, narrowly missing claire and disappearing in a cloud of snow*
Claire: *lets out a very startled yelp, her hat flying back to reveal her auburn hair, which has darkened significantly since the summer now that it's out of direct sunlight* What the hell?? *her snowman is in ruins, and she was totally going to show Morgan and possibly show up Kyle at some point with her sick building skills*
Jalen: *has tumbled about 10 feet from the late snowman* *groans and mutters some choice words in Trill as he sits up, brushing the snow off his face* *looks around, sees Claire, and gives her a sheepish smile* Err... hi.
Claire: *looks irrationally furious about the destroyed snowman* *she made this thing and now it is ruined!!!* Hey! Watch where you're going next time!
Jalen: *shit* I-I'm sorry! I'll help you make a new one! *hastily stands up, brushing all the snow off of him*
Claire: *huffs* I don't want to build a new one, I want you to watch where you're going. You could have hit someone!
Jalen: *does that scratching the back of his neck pose people do when they feel guilty* I'm very sorry about that, I lost my balance.
Claire: *grunts* It's alright. I guess. Sorry I yelled, I know you didn't do it on purpose.
Jalen: That's where you're wrong kiddo
Jalen: *walking towards her* I should have been more careful regardless... in either case, I don't think we've ever met. *smiles* I'm Jalen Hol.
Claire: *offers her hand automatically* Claire Green. We have in passing, but never formally.
Jalen: *shakes her hand* Well, it's nice to finally get to know you. I'll try not to crash into you next time.
Claire: I'd appreciate that. *kicks the pile of snow that was once her glorious snowman* You really wanna help me rebuild it?
Jalen: Of course, let's get started. *still feels a but guilty* *kneels down, forming a snowball in his hands* You wouldn't be related to Morgan, would you?
Claire: *laughs* I am, yeah. Sister. You know her?
Jalen: *nods* Yes, we've been on missions together.
Claire: You guys get along? We don't talk very much about each others social lives. *she starts forming up a ball of snow for the base, listening to it crunch under its own weight*
Jalen: We get along well, yes. *inspects his snowball* How long have you been aboard? I'm surprised this is our first time talking.
Claire: Oh, a couple years now? It's hard to say, I was with the Lina Sophia and some of the crew there for a while, so I was kind of an honorary member long before I actually joined.
Claire: I'm in Command. I take a lot of notes and make sure things on the bridge run smoothly, for the most part. I'm a personnel organizer, basically. *and a coffee organizer, a lot of the time*
Jalen: *grins* Oh, we certainly had some /interesting/ times with that ship. I'm glad you could come here. What do you do?
Jalen: Hey dipshit switch these two
Jalen: Mm, command? I never knew what people in that department did. ...Other than the captain, of course. Although sometimes I wonder what he does too...
Claire: *snorts, rolling her eyes* Well, someone has to plan everything out and make sure all of the other departments are working together correctly.
Jalen: *chuckles* I can't say that I envy you... I'm an engineer, I work on the warp core. Or whatever else needs to be repaired.
Claire: Sounds interesting. I appreciate you keeping our ship flyable. *she puts the base and the middle part of the snowman together, and starts rolling up the head* Looks like our man here is almost complete.
Jalen: *winks* It's my pleasure. *carves a starfleet badge onto the snowman's chest* Thank you for keeping the bridge in order.
Claire: *plops the head down on the snowman* I do my best. Thanks for helping to fix this guy up. I appreciate it.
Jalen: It was the least I could do. I'm sorry for knocking it over in the first place. *inspects the snowman, then draws a smiley face on it*
Claire: *grins* Perfect. You are forgiven. It was good to meet you.
Jalen: And you too, Claire. I hope to see you again! *walks towards his snowboard to dig it back up*
Claire: See you around! *starts to gather other stuff to put on her snowman and clean him up, but she leaves the starfleet logo Jalen had drawn on*
