  7. [2015-04-08 13:00:56] <Kkat> 3It takes Parlay a while to find the western ship, and equally as long to return. Fortunately, the group has time. The southern gunship is getting closer at a snail's pace, and isn't going to be visible for a while yet.
  8. [2015-04-08 13:01:17] <Kkat> 3The Umbra-class ship is a dangerously well-armed, long-range gunship. Parlay's readings of it betray that it is comparatively slow and harder to maneuver than the /Rainbow Connection/ but better armored and bristling with high-powered (if relatively low-calibre) guns. No cannons and definitely no hellfire spewer though.

If we're gonna go try t' find it, it'll be easier t' listen to it comin' instead a' seein' it, maybe. See th' dust it kicks up or th' way birds might try t' avoid it or get brained tryin'."

  48. [2015-04-08 13:31:59] * CopyCat tilts her head. "If I listen carefully, I wonder if I might notice everpony ignoring a certain part of the sky?" she ponders aloud.

  51. [2015-04-08 13:38:55] * Bookwright begins looking purposefully for the cloaked airship, to aid CopyCat's findings.
  52. [2015-04-08 13:39:13] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Get_Lost receives a signal from Parlay. The little bot has spotted the Umbra-class airship. According to the bot, it is west-northwest of Parlay's current position and 21 degrees up from horizon.
  53. [2015-04-08 13:40:11] * Get_Lost relays the coordinates "okay, we spotted it, apparently... what now?"
  54. [2015-04-08 13:40:26] * Noble_Heart looks up and around the area. "The PipBucks will likely be vital in this fight. Their enemy-detection is not fooled by the charms that protect the ships, or so Miss Mare-Do-Well said."
  55. [2015-04-08 13:41:06] * Mare-Do-Well 3nods. "Get close enough, and S.A.T.S. will lock on even if your eyes don't."
  56. [2015-04-08 13:41:14] * Get_Lost trots to the others putting down some sort of protonig rifle with ghost catching backpack "alright, it's done: does somepony want to see if this work?"
  57. [2015-04-08 13:42:29] * Get_Lost "in case of invisible enemies, a weapon producing a cone attack could help a lot..."
  58. [2015-04-08 13:42:45] * CopyCat begins to ear wiggles like she had a pair of radar dishes on her head. Purely for effect. She stops when Get_Lost and Parlay reveal the location. "Oh! That works too."

  60. [2015-04-08 13:44:39] * Bookwright scuttles onto the back of the firewagon and checks the Twilight Cannon. "Okay, we should probably get ready to get in the air over here. Copycat, it's time to strap in. We should hold off on launching until we begin our attack, but we can get ready while still playing fat, dumb, and happy."
  61. [2015-04-08 13:45:09] * Golden_Dream looks to her left and right, for the life of her appearing quite estranged from Copycat. "... Noble, yer' th' combat strategist. Or at least yer' paintin' yerself t' be. If we was t' try t' invade this ship and try t' leave it intact while makin' damn sure it ain't gonna fly unless they do somethin' impossible, what should we light up with this here big batch a' thermite?"
  62. [2015-04-08 13:46:23] * Golden_Dream shrugs. "M' initial plan was t' stick this on top of th' engine or th' fuel source, but I reckon it might be a little too destructive."
  63. [2015-04-08 13:47:04] * Get_Lost "well, burning the navigator always works... sure, death by thermite is a painful and cruel one..."
  64. [2015-04-08 13:49:14] * CopyCat nods at Bookwright and lets herself be... strapped in. All sorts of belts and buckles and bridles.
  65. [2015-04-08 13:49:39] * Bookwright "It would be best if we could force it to crash land and be salvaged later. What if we set the envelope on fire?"
  66. [2015-04-08 13:50:27] * CopyCat turns to Bookwright and tries her warface again. "Rawr!"
  67. [2015-04-08 13:50:51] * Bookwright grins. "Yeah, that's a war face!"
  68. [2015-04-08 13:51:14] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Parlay announces that the Umbra-class ship has turned and is closing on the /Rainbow Connection/
  69. [2015-04-08 13:51:41] * Noble_Heart frowns. "That is a good question, actually. There are not many parts of an airship that are both vulnerable to thermite and not immediately a threat to the entire ship. Fires in the air are likely very dangerous, after all."
  70. [2015-04-08 13:53:46] * Golden_Dream seems quite alarmed. "Noble, they see us. Bookie, yer' gonna have t' explain that t' me. Shatara, I don't care how y' do it, but get us close without th' /Rainbow Connection/ gettin' a face fulla cannon."
  71. [2015-04-08 13:53:47] * Get_Lost since nopony is paying atention, straps the freezinator to noble heart and offers "copy says that the ship is heading toward us"

  73. [2015-04-08 13:55:31] * Noble_Heart blinks in some surprise at suddenly becoming a new weapon platform. "It might be best to mount your weapon to someone who does not go into battle encased in an impenetrable force field. We would prefer not to freeze Ourselves after all."
  74. [2015-04-08 13:55:46] * Mare-Do-Well 3looks to Get_Lost. "Well, you didn't paint the ship dark, sneaky colors like black and purple..."
  75. [2015-04-08 13:56:50] * Mare-Do-Well 3then contemplates Get_Lost's choice. "Maybe strap it to Shatara instead?"
  76. [2015-04-08 13:56:58] * CopyCat nods. "With any luck they'll think we're too ridiculous to be a threat!"
  77. [2015-04-08 13:57:20] * Get_Lost shrugs "sure" goes and puts the prototype solaris weapon on shatara's back
  78. [2015-04-08 13:57:37] * Get_Lost "if it explodes, please put a good word for me in pony heaven, okay?"
  79. [2015-04-08 13:58:27] * Bookwright "I'm going to leave the timing of the attack up to our fair captain. Noble Heart, CopyCat and I will launch on your command. What should I shoot for?"
  80. [2015-04-08 13:59:33] * Mare-Do-Well 3gives CopyCat a look. "Have you seen the other pirate ships? One of them was yellow and green. Hell, one of them was orange and teal! (That's just begging to be shot down.)"
  81. [2015-04-08 14:00:55] * Noble_Heart chuckles. "A true pirate does not need to hide. They should be RUNNING from us. Not attacking us. And today, they will learn that." She nods to Bookwright. "Light the envelope as best you can. Try to suppress their gunners with the wagon. We shall see to it that their balloon does not last long with the help of Golden Dream."

  83. [2015-04-08 14:01:12] * CopyCat hmm's "Good point, Mare-Do-Well... Oh!" She claps her hooves together. "We could pretend to be a parade!"

  85. [2015-04-08 14:02:23] * Get_Lost "okay, i've got something on my sensor." tries looking in that direction, switching to the other view modes
  86. [2015-04-08 14:03:05] * Get_Lost "not turning completely to the exact point, though, to not give out the fact that she spotted them"
  87. [2015-04-08 14:03:31] * Golden_Dream runs up to Get_Lost. "Get, you were messin' with a bunch'a fridge parts. Did y' get some extra magnesium outta that there deal?"

  90. [2015-04-08 14:06:04] * Shatara eeps at the sudden application of wepon. "Wouldn't it be better for a laserpone...?" The blip on the radar draws his attention towards the thing that is trying to push his attention away.
  91. [2015-04-08 14:07:30] * Golden_Dream violently bobbed her head. "Fuckin' galdurn right I do! I'll improvise! Jus', uh. Yer' in charge a' makin' sure this here ship don't eat dirt." She starts to get the glider ready. She doesn't even know how to fly this thing, but, you know. Experience is the best teacher." She looks around. "Shatara, get us high if y' can!"
  92. [2015-04-08 14:10:09] * Get_Lost "it's just some sort of flamer, shatara: point in the general direction, pull the trigger, hope it doesn't explode freezing you in eternal winter"

  94. [2015-04-08 14:13:25] * CopyCat ruffles her feathers and wiggles her rump, like a cat preparing to pounce. She spreads her wings. "We are ready!"
  95. [2015-04-08 14:14:25] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Even with the red dot of E.F.S. as a guide, it is hard to spot the enemy ship. Get_Lost can't find it anywhere in the sky. Shatara keeps staring in what should be the right direction until suddenly he sees the ship bearing down on them! It's close -- less than a hundred yards away, and swiftly getting into optimal firing range!

  101. [2015-04-08 14:25:54] * Noble_Heart looks up as Shatara yells. She still can't see anything in the air, but knew what that probably meant. "Time to take to the skies." She spread her wings and headed skywards, letting her magic wrap around her in a glowing ball of purple.

  103. [2015-04-08 14:28:40] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The air cracks as twin-shots from the invisible ship hit CopyCat in the head!
  104. [2015-04-08 14:28:50] * CopyCat couldn't shield herself while towing the skywagon, so she just had to rely on her Shatara-made armour.

  106. [2015-04-08 14:31:56] * Golden_Dream frowns. "WHY ARE THEY CLOSIN'- Shatara, get us above their balloon before headin' out and create some chaos! I'll glide onto it and rig up th' thermite! Get, yer' in th' pilot chair after he goes!" She still only had a rough idea how to do that or where the darned ship even was, but plans were never important! When are plans ever important?

  108. [2015-04-08 14:34:08] * CopyCat 's head snaps to the side as the bullets impact with so much force they'd have taken her head clean off if it hadn't been for her helmet. Blood pours down her face and mane and she sways in the air.
  109. [2015-04-08 14:35:32] * Mare-Do-Well 3answers Golden_Dream with a ghostly shout, "They're not trying to down our ship; they're trying to take it! My guess: they want prisoners to interrogate to help find The Silos!"
  110. [2015-04-08 14:40:11] * Golden_Dream snarls. "Well /fuck/ that!"
  111. [2015-04-08 14:41:22] * Shatara turns into the enemy's maneuver and tries to climb over them. This thing is small, it should be agile...right?
  112. [2015-04-08 14:42:49] <Mare-Do-Well> 3((Combat begins. Golden_Dream's turn))
  113. [2015-04-08 14:43:08] * Golden_Dream shouts at Shatara to maneuver high!

  115. [2015-04-08 14:50:26] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara maneuvers the ship into a steep climb, attempting to bring the ship above their enemy. One advantage of closing to such a short range is that the Imperials have made maneuvering against them much harder, but the /Rainbow Connection/ is gaining altitude faster than the Umbra-class ship, and should be above them soon.
  116. [2015-04-08 15:02:44] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara has a good line of sight on the ship's bow sniper nest. The zebra gunner is in a lightly-armored pillbox which provides a fair degree of cover.
  117. [2015-04-08 15:18:34] * Shatara braces his rifle against the wheel with a growl. Nobody shoots his sillywinghornpone! He slips into SATS, openning up on the not-quite-shielded-enough gunner.
  118. [2015-04-08 15:25:21] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The zebra gunner falls back, her blood splattering across the inside of her protective pillbox. She's hurt, bad. But she's not down.

  120. [2015-04-08 15:25:46] * Get_Lost sits on the deck, holding on a rope, her visor frantically changing colors and showing some sort of wavelenght. "parlay, fly right below tthe ship, transmit a loud whistle ranging from 2 to 2.3 khz, on radio frequency number..." pauses for a moment, waiting for the results of the scanning

  123. [2015-04-08 15:29:41] <CopyCat> ACTION reels in the air. Her head rings and all sounds, save for her own breathing, go quiet. Her vision blurs but everything seems to slow down to a crawl. She has time to think but her thoughts are slow and scattered. Pain. All encompassing. Surrounding her. Trapping her in her own head. Self preservation took over where thought failed her. CopyCat's horn glows and a shimmering mint-green shield surrounds her. A bubble of protective

  125. [2015-04-08 15:36:52] * Noble_Heart pauses in the air at the sound of CopyCat being struck. She hangs there just a moment within the purple bubble. "CopyCat! Pull up!" She moves upwards, even unable to see the ship she's fairly certain that up is safer than down. "Golden Dream! Prepare to drop bombs! Shatara, make sure to keep your distance from their vessel! We would prefer not to have to fight off boarders

  128. [2015-04-08 15:39:28] * CopyCat sways as a memory comes to the surface. Get_Lost talking to her, telling her to do something if she got hurt. What was it? Get had given her something... a potion! Focusing hard, CopyCat pulls an extra large potion from her bags and brings it to her lips. She drinks greedily.
  129. [2015-04-08 15:41:24] * Bookwright turns the Twiligh Cannon on the envelope of the enemy ship, hoping to puncture it badly and cause the ship to crash. A huge bolt of purple energy leaps forth and splashes over the balloon.
  130. [2015-04-08 15:46:17] <Mare-Do-Well> 3There is a surge of energy that arcs over the Twilight Cannon, and a crackling blast that knocks Bookwright back. The shot was fired, but the cannon suffered a major malfunction and cannot be used again until repaired at a workbench.
  131. [2015-04-08 15:51:30] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The energy splashes across the Umbra-class airship's balloon and arcing across metal supports and rigging. The airship's balloon takes the brunt of the hit, but at least one zebra -- the midship gunner -- is caught by an unfortunate arc.
  132. [2015-04-08 15:53:20] <Mare-Do-Well> 3(( Okay, Imperial's turn! ))
  133. [2015-04-08 15:56:19] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The Umbra-class ship opens up with every forward weapon which can target the /Rainbow Connection/ and its crew...
  134. [2015-04-08 16:18:35] * CopyCat 's calm is shattered by the sniper's first shot slamming into her shield. It holds, barely, only for the next shots to punch right through and almost blow her leg off. She screams in pain as shock and bloodloss almost cause her to drop from the sky.

[2015-04-08 16:22:29] <Mare-Do-Well> 3The temperature drops noticeably as the midship gunner opens with a spray of fire on the deck of the /Rainbow Connection/, filling the air with freezing lead until the enchanted minigun jams and promptly freezes over. Amazingly, only one of the bullets actually hit anyone on board.
  136. [2015-04-08 16:27:40] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Shatara takes a bullet. Fortunately, the griffin power armor is designed to help against just this sort of attack.
  137. [2015-04-08 16:29:00] <Bookwright> lots of big gun jams today
  138. [2015-04-08 16:31:23] <Mare-Do-Well> 3A streak of smoke trails from the neigh-invisible ship, and an explosion rocks the engine of the /Rainbow Connection/. The propellers slow to a stop and the ship ceases to gain altitude.
  139. [2015-04-08 16:42:10] <Mare-Do-Well> 3Several oversized bolts strike at those on the deck, fired from a miniature ballista, most of them aimed at the captain!
  140. [2015-04-08 16:43:09] <Mare-Do-Well> 3More minigun fire sweeps over the deck. Brilliant bullets tear at the sky for several seconds, then stop abruptly as four power gliders launch.
