Q: What is Cosmo doing?
A: Testing a route that skips the sword.

Q: Why would he skip the sword?
A: Because theoretically it is unnecessary  (because a Deku stick can do everything the Kokiri sword can, sword skipping route has been known for a long time) and COULD therefore save time.

Q: How does he get a stick without a sword?
A: He buys one at the Kokiri shop for 10 rupee instead of killing an enemy for one.

Q: What does he need to do to make it feasible?
A: Learn an optimized rupee route, figure out the allowed sword consumption and adjusted timing and setups of certain tricks.

Q: How many sticks does he need?
A: He needs 5; 3 are bought and 2 are farmed from enemies in the Deku Tree.

Q: How many rupees does he need/why is it expensive?
A: 70 rupees is 30 more than the current any% route gets because it omits buying Deku sticks. He'll need 10 rupees for the first stick and 20 more for the other 2 he would buy at the same time as the Deku Shield.

Q: Can he still do Mido Skip (out of bounds swimming to skip talking to Mido)?
A: Yes.

Q: Can he still do B1/basement skip?
A: Yes. The timing is different but the result is the same.

Q: How will he beat Ganon without a sword?
A: Child Link can only kill Ganon with Deku Stick ISG to damage him and the final hit with the Master Sword.

Q: How can he use the Master Sword if he never gets a sword?
A: The Ganon cutscene knocks the Master Sword out of Link's hand no matter what. This puts a proxy Master Sword that functions as the real one next to Adult Zelda behind the fire barrier.  In other words, the game gives you the Master Sword even if you never had it.

Q: Won't the game crash at Ganon because you never had a sword?
A: No, that would be silly.

Q: Can this really be done in real time?
A: Yes.

Q: Is it faster/worth it?
A: That has not been determined yet. The complication of the rupee route makes it difficult to know at this point.

Q: How much time does it save?
A: Undetermined.

Q: What is the new route?
A: The prototype route (soon to be updated):
Link immediately gathers 10 rupees and buys the first 1 instead of getting the sword. Then forest escape (which doesn't break the stick if done correctly) is done normally. Then rupees are collected in Zora's River and Link breaks the stick for the WESS. He gathers the chickens without attacking them (?) and gets the bottle. He buys 2 sticks (?) when he gets the shield, breaks 1 stick for Mido skip and gets 2 more (and Deku nuts) from enemies in the tree. He gets ISG off of a skulltula and performs the basement skip setup, breaks a stick on B1 skip and uses the same broken one in his hand to WESS to scrubs. Then he does 2-3-1 scrubs and enters the Gohma fight. The setup for the Gohma clip is significantly more difficult because of the sword skip but loses no time. The roll method (rolling into Gohma behind the door) of killing Gohma is used and then the Wrong Warp is performed using the Deku stick instead of the sword. The rest plays out exactly the same.
