Chapter 25: Fatal Flash!

We clashed at the center of the arena. Volkner grabbed me by the neck of my shirt, lifting me into the air as he tried to pin me against a nearby wall. I dropped my weight to regain some footing, using my body as an anchor to firmly plant myself in one spot. I used Volkner's momentum against him, and threw him over my shoulder. Volkner quickly bounced back though, as he landed on the wall like a platform, kicking back off of it effortlessly. He summersaulted gracefully in the air, as I fled to grab some distance between us. I frantically looked about to find that Titan and Huntress were far across from me, fighting on their own.

"Huntress! Titan! On me, quickly!" I bellowed.

Titan heard my call and started making his way towards me, as Huntress was firing off will-o-wisps at Volkner's Luxray. The foe's Luxray weaved in and out of each wisp, as Raichu fired off a powerful thunderbolt at Huntress. Titan saw the incoming attack and grabbed Huntress. Titan then jumped out of the way of Raichu's attack just before it could hit them. Titan raced toward me, and slid to a stop.

"Good work recovering Huntress, Titan." I said briskly.

"Hrmph! Expect no less from a warrior such as myself!" he smirked.

Huntress nodded, "What's the play Soul!?" she said anxiously.

Volkner approached us, clapping ironically as he walked slowly. Raichu and Luxray walked by his sides, as their aura drew dark and menacing.

"Not bad, kid! I was actually aiming to engulf you in the chaos of battle, but seems like you regrouped pretty quickly. Not bad, not bad!" he growled.

Volkner began to laugh, "You survived round one! But as you've noticed, there's nowhere to run! So how about we skip the warm up?!"

Volkner pointed at us, "Raichu! Discharge!" He bellowed.

Raichu began to charge his cheeks with blue electricity. It shrieked loudly, as it almost immediately leaked out a discharge of electricity.

"CHUUUUUUUU!"

The force of the attack was so fierce, that it sent Huntress, Titan and I hurtling backwards.

"Grah!" I yelled, as I flew back and fell toward the ground.

Huntress shrieked loudly in pain. I glanced over in her direction, just to witness Huntress being enveloped by Luxray's jaws. Luxray savagely swung his head about, disorientating Huntress, before throwing her further in the opposite direction of Titan and myself.

No! I thought, He's trying to separate us again! Why?

After landing on the ground with my back, I rolled to a stand.

"Stay down!" Volkner yelled, as he appeared before me and punched me in the face. I stumbled backward from the blow, but remained on my feet.

"Titan! On Huntress! Now!" I called out, grabbing another pokeball from my waist.

Titan finally stood to his feet, and ran after Huntress.

I watched Volkner as he grinned, grabbing another pokeball of his own. "Yea, Yea! Those are the eyes I want to see!"

Volkner opened up his pokeball, and with a puff of smoke, his Electivire appeared before me. It growled, as electrical currents surged around his body. I opened up my pokeball as well, and with a puff of smoke; Hellfire appeared. Hellfire howled loudly, as she snorted flames out of her nostrils.

"Soul, this guy doesn't look too tough…I'm with you!" Hellfire snarled, as she stared down Volkner and his Electivire.

"Tch…I can't get control of this match, even after he told me his game plan" I said aloud to myself, "Hellfire, we need to avoid direct combat, and chip away at him all while we look out for Titan and Huntress as best as possible."

I looked over to Huntress and Titan, as they began their battle with Raichu and Luxray. I won't be able to help them out while dealing with Volkner and his Electivire, so I had to leave my faith in them and their instincts…

"AH!" I screamed in pain, as I landed on the floor hard. I slowly rose once more, staring down Luxray as he viciously charged at me, fangs blaring. My body shook violently, I couldn't stop it. I grew anxious more and more as Luxray drew closer and closer. This isn't the kind of fight I expected…This is too much for me, I thought to myself, Soul, help me!

Right before Luxray could claim my consciousness, Titan charged into him. His body blow knocked Luxray off of his footing, and it stumbled onto the ground, giving Titan a huge opening to attack.

"TAKE THIS!" he declared boldly, using his Close Combat technique on Luxray. Luxray, completely taken by surprise, was bombarded with a flurry of attacks. Titan then used his powerful horn to cast Luxray aside, sending him away through the air.

Luxray, albeit still in pain, landed on all fours safely. Raichu huddled over to its aid, and they both began to move in on us slowly once more.

"I can't- I can't fight them without Soul! They are too strong!" I said desperately to Titan.

Titan remained silent. He didn't turn to me, but instead kept his focus on his enemy.

"I will win this battle on my own, if that's what it takes. So by all means, wallow in your pain. I have a fight to win," He said coldly.

Titan charged forward, engaging Raichu and Luxray on his own. Luxray tried to avoid him in order to come after me, but Titan grabbed him by his tail, swinging him around in a circle. Titan let go, and Luxray went crashing into Raichu. They both were propelled backward, as Titan charged in after them. Raichu regained its footing first, and it fired off another powerful thunderbolt.

The attack hit Titan square across the chest, as loud electrical noises and power surged around Titan. Titan flailed in pain, but then he was cloaked in smoke! The smoke cleared quickly, revealing a substitute doll, which plopped on the ground softly. Raichu wore a confused look on his face, as Titan appeared behind him, ready to strike. Luxray saw through Titan's guise and stopped him dead in his tracks, as it grabbed Titan's arm with its powerful jaws. Titan turned to deal with Luxray, but Raichu jumped at him, latching onto his back. Raichu charged his cheeks with electricity, and released another powerful thunderbolt.

"GAAARGH!" Titan screamed in pain from the shock. Raichu quickly let go of him, as Luxray smacked Titan across the face with a powerful Iron Tail. Titan fell backward a bit, as Raichu attacked him again from behind with yet another Iron Tail attack, almost as if he were a pinball in an arcade machine.

I..I can't, I thought, sitting in fear. I looked over to where Soul was. He and Hellfire were fighting Electivire and Volkner. Soul was taking a pummeling, and Hellfire wasn't fairing all that much better. But they were working together, stopping most of Electivire's attacks from making direct impact. But every time Electivire missed, the crash from his attack shook the gym. I turned back to Titan once more. Titan was being attacked from both sides relentlessly. He returned some attacks, but for each attack he landed, Raichu and Luxray hit him twice.

My friends all around me were engaged in fierce combat. As I stood by, doing nothing. I've always been weak; only able to weaken or stop foes momentarily. I've never commanded my own victories through sheer strength…Even my strongest attack is based on borrowing my opponents power.

I'm worthless I thought, as I imagined my friend's backs, all turned to me. Emperor, Titan, Nightwing and even Hellfire have strength in them like I've never seen. They can do amazing things. Who am I to compare to them, the real stars?

"This battle is heating up! As chaos is ensuing on the battle field!" declared Gabby, over the intercom.

The crowd roared as the fight raged on, enjoying the battle between Soul and Volkner to the fullest.

"What are your takes on the battle, gentlemen?" Gabby asked.

Grimsley shook his head, "Soul is in a very bad positon right now. Two of his pokemon are fighting on their own, but it seems like there is no synergy between them, unlike Raichu and Luxray's seasoned experience. Volkner has been at this battling business for quite some time and it quite clearly shows in comparison to Soul. Not only was able to achieve his goal of separating Soul with half of his team, but he is also leading in the 2v2 against Soul and his Houndoom with Electivire's help. His battling sense is electrifyingly fierce, if I do say so myself."

Red frowned, "If Soul doesn't regain his composure and claim some footing quick, this battle will end indefinitely. Soul's Sableye appears to be unable to fight without the guidance of its trainer…"

I was resting for so long, I started paying attention to everything other than the battle. I listened to what Red and Grimsley said carefully, as they continued to speak and moniter our battle from overhead. I almost forgot that this battle was in front of a large audience; everyone is watching. And they were right, I can't do anything without Soul, and it was painfully obvious.

I took in a deep breath. Before Soul brought me onto his team, I was always alone. I couldn't do anything. Ever since I joined Soul, I depended on him to make every call. I put all my faith in him, and my teammates. My confidence was never in myself to get the job done. I always left it to them.

…So, why change that now? I am not strong like them. I can't do damage the same way they can. My abilities are different, my moves are different. I'm different. So maybe…maybe I just need to help better in a way that I can, on my own. Titan may be brash, but his idea was right. I need the same amount of confidence in myself as he has in himself. I need to become just a little bit stronger, so I can help them more in a way only I can!

I rose to my feet, and shook off my rust. I took another deep breathe, and charged forward.

Titan was inbetween Raichu and Luxray, as they were preparing to strike him down. I quickly fired off a will-o-wisp attack aimed right at Luxray, who was too preoccupied with trying to finish off Titan to see it coming.

"Krrwawr!" Luxray roared in shock from his burn.

At that moment, Titan used his horn to send Luxray crashing into a wall.

CRAASH! Luxray hit the wall so hard, that he formed his own crater. Raichu saw his teammate knocked into the distance, and tried to retaliate with anger. Raichu was about to attack Titan with another Thunder Bolt, but I ran in, quickly closing the gap between us with my pursuit attack. I slashed Raichu with my claws, knocking him off balance. Raichu responded with an Iron Tail, but I was able to back off and dodge his attack.

Titan charged in, slamming his claws into the ground. The ground rumbled and erupted into huge rocks beneath Raichu. Titan's Stone Edge attack sent Raichu Flying upward into the air, as it fell nearby Luxray.

Luxray crawled out of its crater, and slowly walked over to Raichu's side, helping it rise to his feet.

Titan and I huddled up behind the newly formed rock formation, taking a moments reprieve to catch our breath.

"You…You helped me?" Titan coughed, gasping to catch his breath.

"Yea I-I guess I did" I said, hesitantly at first.

Titan grew irritated, "I told you I don't need your-" he started.

I placed my paw on his mouth, "Shut up! You and I both know your strong, and you probably can take those two on your own. But that's not smart. Soul needs you to fight Electivire!" I said boldly.

Titan regained his composure, as he stared angrily into my eyes.

"Look, I'm not strong like you, and Hellfire is not going to beat Electivire on her own; she can only weaken him. Therefore, we need you to knock those two out as quickly as possible so you can go fight with Soul!"

Titan stood to his feet, dusting himself off.

"Hmph…You got a "plan" then I assume?" he scoffed.

"Well-I…no. No, I don't" I confessed.

"Hmph!" Titan laughed.

"Hey! I'm doing my best, even though i'm completely scared! But don't worry, I will become your shadow. I can support you with all of my strength. I might not be able to beat them on my own, but I can weaken them to the point that it will be a free win for you. So, follow my lead, okay?"

Titan nodded, as we both walked out of hiding. Talking with Titan like that filled me with bravery. I felt ready to fight now.

As we stared down Raichu and Luxray, it seemed that they got their second wind as well.

"What's this?! It seems things are starting to heat up between the trainerless duos!" Gabby exclaimed over the intercom.

The crowd turned their attention away from Soul and Volkner, as they focused on Titan and I.

"It seems that the Sableye and Heracross finally found their common ground. Their eyes look different. They look stronger," Grimsley said in a smug voice, "This ought to be exciting!"

Red stared on silently.

Titan and I looked at each other. He nodded to me, and I nodded back.

Raichu dashed in first, followed closely followed by Luxray. I leaped into the air, as Luxray swung a powerful Iron Tail at Raichu. Raichu used the attack as a spring, as electricity enveloped it body. Raichu erupted in blinding light, as electricity surged all around him.

"This is it people! The RaiLux team specialty!" Gabby exclaimed;

"Volt Boost Power Tackle!"

Raichu sprung forward with blinding speed, as the crowd screamed in delight of seeing this powerful signature move. As Raichu flew toward us, the ground shattered and broke by the discharging electricity.

"Behind me!" Titan grunted with a wild grin.

I ducked behind Titan for cover, as I began to form a will-o-wisp attack with my paws.

Titan dug his feet into the ground and roared:

"I'M NOT MOVING FROM THIS SPOT!"

Raichu crashed into Titan with full force: BOOOOOOM! The impact erupted throughout the stadium, as a sound wave exploded around them.

The electricity went haywire, as the sound blared like millions of birds chirping. Titan was pushed back slightly, but he pushed back with all of his strength. He grabbed Raichu with both of his claws, picked it up, and slammed it onto the ground. Raichu's body it the ground so hard, that the ground shattered in front of them. I dashed out, blasting Raichu with many will-o-wisps that I had conjured, burning him into the ground.

Raichu screamed in pain. Titan still wore a wild grin, as he shoved me out of the way. He leaned forward, hovering over the fallen Raichu. He began pummeling Raichu further and further into the ground. Each blow shook the gym, very much like Electivire did.

I watched in horror and amazement as Titan savagely attacked Raichu. Thank God that's not my enemy I said to myself.

At that very moment. I was scooped from behind by Luxray. Luxray used his thunder fang attack on me from behind, shocking my body with thousands of volts. I Screamed out loud, as I felt myself passing out from the pain. Luxray threw me to the side, and I tumbled into the ground, completely shaken and wounded. Luxray pounced at me, standing over me with his fang charging up once again with Electricity.

Oh…I see, I began to think myself as I was passing out, He used his charge attack while we were distracted…just to get to me in the downtime…

A huge Fire Blast flew from across the gym, hitting Luxray dead on. Luxray went flying to the side, and it laid there unconsciously due to the impact.

I turned my head over, as Soul and Hellfire ran over towards me. Titan picked me up into his arms, yelling words at me I couldn't understand.

Oh, he's actually worried, I said to myself with a smile.

I placed my paw on Titan's mouth to keep him quiet.

"I'm stronger than I've ever been…I'm lookin' like a true fighter now, right?" I said to him.

I began forming another wisp of fire in my paw.

"What are you doing? You can rest now!" Titan growled at me.

I smiled, and looked him in the eye. "I said all I can do is support you, and that's what I'm gonna do" I said, as I usedmy wisp to burn Titan.

"Grargh! Why!?" He asked.

I chuckled then coughed a bit, "This way…you'll have the guts to win" I said softly, as I drifted off…

"Dammit, I'm too late…" I said, as I stood over Titan, who was holding Huntress in his arms.

I pulled out Huntress' pokeball, and retreated her back inside.

"She earned a rest," Titan said angrily, "She put everything she had into it, and still was able to come up with a strategy to make me stronger…I won't let that go in vain!" Titan said clenching his fist. His aura grew bright, as he started brimming with energy.

I smiled and nodded, "Damn straight we aren't! It seems Huntress was able to do something pretty good on her own. This fight will be easier with your guts ability activated" I said coolly.

"Hellfire…" I called out as I turned to Hellfire. She was barely standing up from her battle with Electivire. In order to spare Huntress further pain, I ordered Hellfire to use her Fire Blast on Luxray from across the arena. She saw that Huntress was in trouble, and was willing to compromise her wellbeing to help her out. Because of that, Electivire was able to hit her with a powerful brick break attack.

I looked around, and saw that both Raichu and Luxray were both downed.

I grabbed Hellfire's pokeball from my waist as well, "Hellfire, you're done," I said bluntly.

"No, I can- we can fight Electivire together!" she growled angrily/

I turned around once more to see where Volkner was, and I saw that he was putting his pokemon back into their respective pokeballs.

I turned back to Hellfire, "There's no time, its only quiet right now because Volkner took a pause to take care of his mons," I began, "This is gonna be a much fiercer fight from here on in, and you'll only stand in Titan's way. I need him to not hold back right now, and if you're in the way, we can't do that."

Hellfire sighed, "Okay...but if Titan falls, I can still fight! I can keep going!" Hellfire growled, "I want to avenge Huntress!"

I nodded, as I retreated Hellfire back into her ball. I placed both Huntress and Hellfire's balls back onto my waist, and turned my attention to Titan. He stood there, staring in Volkner and Electivire's direction.

"Hellfire is gonna take a breather, but I'd much rather not pull her back out to fight…Come," I motioned to Titan to approach me.

I quickly pulled my back pack off and pulled out a max potion from inside of it. I nursed Titan's wounds, and prepared him for the next round.

"How bad is the burn?"

"The passive damage doesn't even phase me. Right now, there is only war" Titan responded in a grave tone. He rustled his wings, and stretched out his arms, preparing his battle stance.

I stood up, and faced Volkner, who had just finished tending to Electivire's wounds as well. They stood side by side, each with a crazed grin on their faces.

"Remember when I said you'd find opponents who are more powerful than us…" I asked Titan.

Titan nodded, "Yes…I see them before me! This is the battle I longed for!" He said happily.

I shook my head, "No you fool…This is the gate to that dimension. This is the final obstacle that is halting us from taking what's ours. Beyond this point, is where true strength lies. Beyond the gatekeeper lies the treasure that we truly seek," I turned to Titan, "So then, let's go claim what's ours…" I finished coldly.

Titan grinned, "I see!" he said in agreement. We both stared forward once more.

"you know," Titan began, "Following you on this journey was the right choice after all . I will see victory in your presence!"

I nodded in agreement, and we both began walking towards Volkner.

The crowd roared with anticipation.

"This seems like a huge turn of events for Soul! What a comeback for that Heracross and Sableye. They were able to come together for the sake of victory, and bested Volkner's Luxray and Raichu with the help of Hellfire! What a battle!" Gabby exclaimed over the intercom.

Grimsley nodded smugly, "True as that may be, Soul is not holding all the cards here at all. His Houndoom is literally on its last legs, and it appears that Heracross is damaged by Sableye's will-o-wisp attack, which means he is experiencing some sever burn damage. All that, and it seems Soul's goal to burn and weaken Electivire's attack strength.

"Yea, but you forget one important detail, which is brilliant in Soul's case," replied Red.

Grimsley chuckled, "Your eyes don't miss anything, do they champion?"

Gabby became frustrated, "Please explain the problem to the rest of the class!" she demanded.

Red nodded, "Well, Volkner successfully extracted the attention of Soul's heavy hitter and status inflictor, but he did not expect both his Luxray and Raichu to fall. He failed to capitalize on Electivire's Motor Drive ability; Motor Drive increases the speed of a pokemon hit with an electric move. What really aided Soul's game plan was the fact that he kept Electivire on his toes with a pokemon that may also inflict the burn status. This slowed down Volkner's attack pattern, causing him to miss multiple attacks in order to avoid being hit directly by a fire type attack."

"That's right," began Grimsley, "Soul had decent positioning. He knew that Houndoom couldn't out right beat Electivire, but having the chance to burn a target while his other pokemon dealt with the remainder of Volkner's team was a decent plan. But two things happened: First, Soul didn't get the burn at all, and Second, he sacrificed the health of his Houndoom in order to spare his Sableye further pain from Luxray's assault. Now, he has a pokemon in the back that will barely last four or five minutes with a colossal titan like Electivire!"

Gabby gasped in awe, "Wow, as a spectator, it's hard to see all that hidden strategy and mind games. This truly is a high-level battle to experience! Now we get to see a ferocious battle between two powerful titans!"

"Ha ha ha! You're pretty good!" Volkner exclaimed loudly.

"Hmph," I grunted, "beating an old man like you isn't really revolutionary to be honest…" I said with a sly grin.

Volkner's smile vanished and was replaced by gritted teeth, "Electivire, GO!" he called out, as he charged forward in my direction.

I took two steps back, "Titan, wait for it…" I said calmly.

Titan nodded and took a few steps back as well.

Volkner and Electivire charged toward us with rage in their souls. When they got close enough, I called out to Titan:

"Titan, Stone Edge!"

Titan slammed his claw into the ground in front of him. The earth split open and sharp rocks erupted out of the ground. Vokner was taken by surprise, as he slid to a stop. Electivire was completely unprepared for the sudden attack, and was caught up in the middle of the rocks.

"Vvreee!" it screeched in pain.

I ducked around the rocks, and attacked Volkner. Volkner turned his attention to me quickly. He smiled wildly, and as he anchored his back leg to the ground he swung a powerful kick.

His kick connected across my face; I was blown back by his strength. As I stumbled backward, I couldn't help but smile. Volkner was about to pursue me, but he sensed that I let my guard down on purpose. He instead dodge rolled out of my line of vision. As he did this, Titan swung his fist ferociously, breaking the rocks that he just ensnared Electivire in.

"Ha! Almost took my head off there!" Volker laughed as he rolled to a stand. Now that the rocks were loosened up, electivire used its free arm to use his Brick Break attack. The remaining rocks shattered into pieces along the ground.

I ran toward Volkner, "We're not done yet!" I growled at him.

"That implies that I'm going somewhere," Volkner scoffed with a grin.

I swung a right fist at him, but he blocked my attack with a right-handed parry. He spun around my back and went for a left drop kick. I ducked in time to not get kicked in the head a second time and tackled Volkner. We tumbled on the ground for a bit, but I was able to pin him to the ground. I jabbed him in the face twice before he used his legs to flip me into the air.

"Pull!" he called out. Electivire took the que, and he jumped into the air with his fist surging with electricity. I was caught in the air with no way to defend or dodge, I was a sitting duck!

Titan came to my aid however, and he drop kicked Electivire out of the air. I landed on the ground first, as I reached my hand out to grab Titan's. Using his momentum, I swung him around, launching him like a guided missile in Electivire's direction.

As Titan soared in his direction, I called out to him: "Titan! Mega Horn!"

Titan's horn glowed brightly, as he homed in on Electivire.

Electivire slowly rose from the ground, after be kicked into the ground. It stood in a daze, and looked at Titan as he approached. Unable to react in time, Titan crashed into Electivire with full force. Electivire took the brunt of the attack, but refused yield as it stood firmly.

"Break him down with Close Combat!" I yelled at him.

"Electivire, Dual Fist!" Volkner responded.

Electivire's fist began to glow, as one was engulfed in ice and the other in electricity. Electivire clashed his fists together, and charged at Titan.

"VRKVREEEE!" it bellowed, as Titan and Electivire glared into the other's eyes.

Titan swung first, punching Electivire across the face. Electivire took the punch with little recoil, but responded with an ice punch to the gut. Titan buckled, but Electivire's assault was unyielding. He followed up with a 1-2 jab, hitting Titan in the face twice. Titan swung another fist, but Electivire shoulder blocked it. Like a real boxer, Electivire rose its fists, ducking into close quarters with Titan. He let out a series of blows into Titan's stomache. Titan took the punches well, and rose both fists over his head. He clasped them together, and brought them down over Electivire's head like a hammer. Electivire shook and fell, as Titan followed up with an amazing uppercut, sending Electivire flying into the air. Titan grabbed Electivire's tail before it could fly further, and slammed him into the ground. Electivire hit the ground so hard, that he bounced back up into the air.

"YOU'RE FISTS MEAN NOTHING!" Titan savagely growled as he leaped after Electivire. He tackled Electivire out of the air, mounting him as they landed onto the ground. Titan then unleashed a flurry of fists upon Electivire, hitting him in the chest, face, stomache; just about anywhere to inflict as much damage as possible.

"Discharge!" Screamed Volkner.

Electivire growled and let loose an explosion of electricity. The blast was so fierce that Titan flew through the air like a piece of paper. Titan crashed into the wall, and the crowd exploded in cheers. Titan laid motionless against the wall, temporarily unconscious. He woke from his daze slowly, as he looked unto Electivire's direction.

Shit, he can't move! I thought to myself, as I raced to Titan as quickly as I could.

Volkner stood behind Electivire, with a grim expression upon his face.

"I'm done with this…Electivire, charge up to full power…"

Electivire began to glow with a blinding light. Electricity surged all around him, as shockwaves of air surged around it.

"Sorry…but this is the end game: Discharged Bolt Strike!"

Without a moment to spare, a bolt of electricity erupted from Electivire aimed at Titan!

TSKREZZZZZZZ! The bolt screeched as it soared across the arena.

Titan smiled, as his impending doom approached him…

"GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!"

Thunderbolts surged throughout my body, as the bolts pierced right threw me, and reverberated throughout my entire body.

"AAAAARRGH!" I screamed some more. The pain was blinding, even more so than the light. I couldn't think, and I eventually couldn't even feel. An illusion appeared within my mind, as my eyes slowly rolled to the back of my head. Red; he was looking at me. He turned away slowly and began walking away. I tried to yell at him, I reached my hand out and grabbed nothing.

The stadium grew quiet, as everyone in the crowd was struck with anticipation. They all witnessed as the attack came to a close. My body was still standing to my amazement, but I had no control over it. As red walked away, I felt myself begin to fall. IT was over. I lost. There was no way I could keep fighting, with my body unable to move. But as I fell…I could hear something, calling out to me. IT was faint, but as it went on, the louder it grew.

It was coming in to me, but the words still were unfamiliar.

I listened, as continued to fall slowly.

…soul

It was my name. Who's calling to me? Can't they see that I'm busy losing?

SOUL!

The sudden loudness shook threw me, as I became alert once more.

SOUL! SOUL! SOUL! SOUL!

The crowd erupted into a brave chant. They whistled and cheered for me; for my success.

My leg slid forward on its own, as it shook to keep my body up. My arms laid in front of me, elongated and useless as they hung. I slowly looked up, seeing Volkner and Electivire standing in the distance before me, in shock.

"He Took the Attack for his Pokemon! He selflessly put himself in harm's way to protect his partner!" Gabby exclaimed.

I focused my breathing and attempted to stand up straight. I was completely out of gas; no ounce of strength left in my body. I looked over to my right, and my eyes widened. Spirit was still sitting in the stands, tears riding down her eyes. I couldn't hear her, but I could read the words from her lips.

You can do it! Just go for it!

I gritted my teeth, and slowly raised my arm. I held up a fist, to let the crowd no I survived, and they exploded in cheers and applause.

Titan, now fully recuperated from Electivire's Discharge.

"What do we do now!?" He growled anxiously.

I dropped my fist and pointed, "Attack!"

Titan charged forward without thinking, completely confident in my direction.

Volkner quickly shook off his daze. "Electivire! Thunder Punch!" He declared.

Both pokemon charged at each other, as Titan began to brim with power. I could feel my soul erupt with energy. IT brought some life back into me, as I felt my mind and soul connect with Titan's.

This was it, that power I was trying to control earlier! I will use it with full power this time! I thought to myself.

"Titan! THIS IS THE FINAL ATTACK! EX CLOSE COMBAT!"

Titan's energy burst open uncontrollably, as he rained a barrage of fists unto Electivire before it could even use its thunder punch.

Electivire was bombarded blow after blow, as he was blown back by Titan's sheer strength. Titan finished Electivire off with a final blow that dragged him across the stadium.

BOOOM! The impact shook the gym completely. Titan stood over a seemingly lifeless Electivire, as it was finally knocked out.

Before I could react, everything suddenly went black. My body finally caved, and I collapsed to the ground.
