  10. Dear Chiang Fong / David / Kenny
  11.
  12.
  13.
  14. (1) We are implementing an announcement/notification system (via MS Exchange) for Senior Admin & DDs to communicate with all parents / guardians in ACS (Independent).
  15.
  16.
  17.
  18. (2) A separate domain has already been created for this purpose.
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22. (3) Some time next week, teachers will be collecting the email address of all parents / guardians into the LMS – this exercise is expected to last about 1 week or so. At the end of the exercise, the information will be exported into MS Excel format.
  23.
  24.
  25.
  26. (4) We will require the import facility (created by Chiang Fong) to import the information from MS Excel into MS Exchange.
  27.
  28.
  29.
  30. (5) Can Chiang Fong please brief Kenny and David on how to use this? I remember that Chiang Fong was supposed to provide IT Department with the necessary documentation and files for this since October 2008.
  31.
  32.
  33.
  34. Please keep me updated on this.
  35.
  36.
  37.
  38. Thanks

  44. ## 2 - my response
  45.
  46. Hi sir,
  47.
  48. As spoken yesterday during lunchtime, Kenny visited the IT Dept office yesterday (Monday) at approx 4.40pm. However, he could not find you or Mr Chrys Tay to clarify this matter.
  49.
  50. 2. This 'import facility' was part of our IBA back in November 2007. Hence, the continued support we have provided in April 2008 (creation of accounts for incoming Y5s) and October 2008 (creation of accounts and mailboxes for outgoing Y6s) was on a goodwill basis, as we did not derive any benefit from either of the incidents at the expense of our time and effort.
  51.
  52. 3. The 'import facility' had been documented as per request during November 2007, and sent with all accompanying files to Mr Chrys Tay then. This documentation was sent again in April 2008 and again in October 2008.
  53.
  54. 4. I no longer have a copy of said files, as we try our best to avoid retaining personal information for any longer than necessary. Assuming nobody has moved them, they should still be in a folder on the Desktop of ACDC1 or ACEX1 servers.
  55.
  56. 5. As Y5s, with the IB workload ramping up, Kenny and myself can no longer spare the time to do this. David is in Y4 Express, with 'O' Levels coming up.
  57.
  58. 6. In any case, we believe we had made clear on multiple occasions (since November 2007) that this 'import facility' project is *not* a CST project. Hence, it would not be appropriate for us to dump this on David, since he wasn't involved in the attachment at all, much less our CST juniors.
  59.
  60. 7. Even if we wanted to undertake this request, we don't know what the project is trying to do. From our IBA experience we only learned how to import users and create mailboxes for them, and that did not involve external email addresses. I apologise if I missed the point, but after the conversation yesterday, I've still yet to figure out how external email addresses relate to the project.
  61.
  62. 8. I'm afraid that if the project this time round is of a different nature, we may have to spend quite some time reading up on how to go about it. Despite the palpable urgency of this request, we regret that we can no longer drop everything and work on this.
  63.
  64. Regards,
  65. Chiang Fong.
  66.
  67. ## 3 - his response
  68. Dear Chiang Fong
  69.
  70.
  71.
  72. (1) Yesterday was Staff Wellness Day (every Monday from 3:30pm).
  73.
  74.
  75.
  76. (2) We understand that it was part of the IBA in Nov 2007. But now IT Department has to take over the responsibility of continuing using the scripts you used, and we appreciate the work done.
  77.
  78.
  79.
  80. (3) We are not asking CST to do the work, but to show us how to work the scripts. – that is all.
  81.
