  1. ackNstuff> so I was going over numbers with my partners and think we can work out something quite nice for you
  2. <hackNstuff> I know you were looking at dedicated, but how would you feel in getting a really nice price cut for nearly the same product, in exchange for us using some of the other resources for other purposes?
  3. <Teq> that would depend solely on what else is being used
  4. <hackNstuff> RAM and Bandwidth
  5. <hackNstuff> A. You won't be using 16GB of RAM
  6. <hackNstuff> B. You'd have priority over bandwidth
  7. <hackNstuff> so in essence you shouldn't see any noticable difference
  8. <Teq> well, who else is using it?
  9. <hackNstuff> well nobody yet
  10. <hackNstuff> we'd be looking at a new machine
  11. <hackNstuff> probably selling 6 slots x 1GB RAM for seedbox purposes
  12. <hackNstuff> traffic control specced to have lower priority of course
  13. <hackNstuff> You get 6-8GB RAM, 6 CPU cores, priority bandwidth, as much HDD as you want (500GB sound good?) and I was looking at around $225-250
  14. <hackNstuff> It looks like I can waive any setup fees as long as you pay the first month once we get things rolling for you.
  15. <Teq> 500GB shouldn't be an issue, however if there are seedboxes running, I fear that will slow shit down for me quite a bit
  16. <hackNstuff> I wouldn't think it should
  17. <hackNstuff> on a dedicated 100MB connection
  18. <hackNstuff> I was under the impression that XR primarily uses CPU followed by network
  19. <hackNstuff> a higher number of connections rather than raw bandwidth
  20. <Teq> well, running 700 threads uses a lot of networking power as well
  21. <hackNstuff> I'll see if I can find some numbers, I thought some people run XR off like a 10MB connection, could be wrong though
  22. <Teq> on a low number of threads perhaps
  23. <hackNstuff> let's see what the community has to say on that
  24. <Teq> sure
  25. <hackNstuff> 'cause we only want to do resource sharing if it's viable for the both of us
  26. <Teq> right
  27. <hackNstuff> if it is, how does that sound to you?
  28. <Teq> would be dependant on price, 165-300 is a broad range
  29. <hackNstuff> well like I put above, 6-8GB RAM, 6 CPU cores, priority bandwidth, as much HDD as you want (500GB sound good?) and I was looking at around $225-250
  30. <hackNstuff> everything there is negotiable
  31. <hackNstuff> I don't handle the traffic, but there's two ways we can go
  32. <hackNstuff> A. We statically split the traffic, you get x MB/s, nobody can touch it
  33. <hackNstuff> B. It's flexible, you get as much as you want, when you're not using it others can use extra BW
