  1. Necropolis
  2.
  3. It began with the cold war. The cold war was a stalemated conflict, both sides, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the United States of America in open hatred. Through constant struggle, they continued to watch each other with cautious eyes, waiting for the other to make their move in the war of chess. It was in this that the economy began to plummet for the USSR. What could they do without the money to fuel their conflict? Nothing. It would be the end of the cold war; the end of the Soviet Union, and the start of internal fighting across the expanses of Russia.
  4. Intervention took heed.
  5. The Peoples Republic of China had seen the loss the Soviet Union had gained. As a socialist brother, they gave them the aid they desired. They catalysed the continuation of the conflict, the hostility between superpowers. In the year 1991, the Soviet Union began to rebuild itself, China supporting their now-fragile body.
  6. Nineteen years pass.
  7. The dawn of 2010, and hatred fuels humanity. The United States of America exists in a state of anti-communism, President Joseph Carter ruling with a manipulative tongue. The Soviet Union and China have formed the Coalition of Socialist Republics, spreading their influence across the world. Both forces are ready with political hatred and a ‘change’ for the decadent globe. In Africa, Communist Forces sit, staring coldly at the US Infantry. In Europe, an emergency council is held to determine the fate of the continent. President Carter fears a war, continuously telling the public that hope is ever present in the hearts and minds of the American people.
  8. America needs Hope.
  9. Hope catalysed terrorism. A New World Order composed of dangerous and radical minds; freedom, refreshed justice, abolition of a dead government- the aims of the freedom fighters. As the times progressed, the cells grew, mutated, developed, spread like a malignant cancer across the globe. Gone were the days of backpack bombings and the epoch of gun and knife. Biological Warfare became a favourite.
  10. Independence Day. Triumph, Hope, Freedom.
  11. The screams echoed through the cities: New York, Washington D.C, Miami. Moscow, St. Petersburg. London, Manchester.
  12. One hour had passed, and reports poured from the United Kingdom; BIO ATTACK: UNKNOWN OUTBREAK. Men and women with necrotic wounds scarred to their skin and wheezy chests gripping their fears, some too tired to even move. Reports from New York stated that PUBLIC INFECTED BY TERROR VIRUS.
  13. Three Hours pass.
  14. MALATTIA SPANDITURA
  15. KRANKHEIT AUSBRUCH
  16. ВИРУСУ вспышка
  17. ウイルスが発生
  18.
  19. Four Hours pass.
  20.
  21. Rioting begins amongst the non-infected, looters trashing electronic stores for the sake of it. Military forces of the nations construct quarantine zones, their government attempting to work out what happened. In New York, a man stands in Times Square, surrounded by stationary cars, holding a sign.
  22.
  23. The end is Nigh
  24.
  25. Five Hours pass.
  26.
  27. President Carter addresses the nation, announcing not to be panicked at the sudden spread of disease. Influenza, he calls it. Premier Tarasov does not address the Soviet Union; he is infected.
  28.
  29. Six Hours pass.
  30.
  31. One by one, the slumped bodies in the street, the decaying corpses in their homes, awaken. Rioting becomes violent, the military overwhelmed at the crowds of people sprinting towards them, screaming and howling like animals. They open fire, body after body falling to the ground. It is not enough.
  32.
  33. City after city, it occurs. Among the surviving military, the nickname is given to the people; Zombies. The virus still spreads, those mauled by the crazed populace turning to their cause. As surviving citizens flick through their television channels, silence is emitted. No television, no radio, no planes, just the distant sound of screaming and shooting.
  34.
  35. Seven Days pass.
  36.
  37. The few survivors of the viral holocaust emerge from the safety of their homes, only to find the streets littered with corpses. In the distance, the screaming still continues. The survivors discover the others, and reveal their stories. Escape from New York City is impossible, the once-sane populace roaming through the killing fields, the bridges destroyed. Survival was the only way.
  38.
  39. Necropolis, they branded it. The City of the Dead.
