【内容简介】

　　在意大利一城堡内，百姓怀着兴奋心情等待城主古罗凯旋归来，然而，他的同父异母的弟弟却妒忌兄长才干，计划报复，首先令城主的婚礼告吹，再布局陷害，但最终还是被人揭发……

　　这一出发生在田野乡间的浪漫喜剧，场景壮观而华丽，片中充满了精巧的骗局与美丽的爱情故事，描写希萝与克劳底欧是一对即将步入礼堂的恋人，在准备婚礼期间，两人闲来无事，便计划撮合双方好友班奈迪克与碧翠丝的婚事。班奈迪克是一个性情豪放又机智的年轻贵族，自负的他抱定了单身的打算，而碧翠丝则是一个性格活泼、伶牙俐齿的姑娘，两个嘴快的人一见面，都要展开一场挖苦讥笑的舌战。不过，在周遭好友善意的骗局下，两人唇枪舌剑的背后，慢慢滋生起爱苗，最后终于由冤家变为夫妻，为整片带来愉悦而温馨的结局。

　　机智的碧翠丝与自大狂妄的班纳狄克经常斗嘴，却不肯承认爱意；天真无邪的希柔受到克劳帝欧伯爵的追求，但伯爵误以为心上人在婚礼前一夜背叛自己，使希柔陷于绝望。而这一切是卑鄙的唐约翰策划的阴谋，他要对同父异母的哥哥唐佩德罗报复，但被当地的守卫杜贝揭发。

　　肯尼斯布莱纳是当今影坛上，诠释莎士比亚剧作的佼佼者，无人能出其右，他努力将莎士比亚美丽却艰涩的文句，化身为蝴蝶蜜蜂般轻盈易懂的台词。不知道为什么，莎翁生动的喜剧一旦搬上大银幕，通常都有过于平庸的倾向，但是肯尼斯布莱纳巧妙的将此剧结构重组，为它注入了栩栩的生命力。

【幕后制作】

　　莎翁喜剧《无事生非》(又译《庸人自扰》)，由英国的莎剧才子肯尼斯·布莱纳自导自演，演员阵容包括他当时的妻子艾玛·汤普森以及尚未大红特红的未来明星。全片由两段纠葛不清的爱情互相串连。全片拍得气氛热闹，但对白很多，有时会显得聒噪。不过在意大利突斯卡尼拍摄的外景和服装道具表现出中世纪的南欧风味。

·片中大部分的歌唱片断都没有经过重新录制。
·故事背景是意大利西西里岛东北岸港市墨西拿，但是拍摄地则是意大利中部托斯卡纳地区以出产红葡萄酒而闻名的基安蒂。
·凯特·贝金赛尔当时正在牛津大学新学院(New College)学习俄语和法语。她利用暑假完成了拍摄。
·朱迪·丹奇曾被邀请出演厄苏拉一角。
·制作和发行公司Samuel Goldwyn花了1000万美元宣传此片，并对94年奥斯卡的每个评委都作了大量工作，希望能有机会问鼎奥斯卡，结果最后却一个提名也没得到。
