"'Tis a most interesting little toy," says Alyona, spellbound by the ball-like thing between her paws. It's much larger than standard, out of necessity. She rolls it back and forth, bats it from one palm to the other. "Pleasantly weighted, smooth; a challenge to grip, but not irritatingly so."

Otto watches nervously as she lowers her head to get her jaws around it, squeezing it carefully while her tongue slurps unpleasantly at the ball. Her voice comes out muffled and awkward. "What did you call this substance? Peanut butter?"

"Yes," says Otto. "It's good on sandwiches."

Alyona seems uninterested in the mention of sandwiches, and opens her jaws to let the ball drop to the floor again. "What is this delightful contraption called?"

"Er," says Otto. He's not sure how to explain to her what it is. "The humans call it a kong."

"Fascinating," she says, and turns her gaze back to her toy.
