Though the crowd was armed, violence was averted.|h|!W|/|/|-|h|!WLord Commander Silas Mercier and Princess Reese Grayson of the Iron Guarded were on the scene to quiet the initial agitation. Prince Luca Velenosa was also there, though his presence wasn't exactly calming! Tensions remained high, and there was talk rising prices, greed, grain meant for bread being sold to make whiskey, and Bringer infiltrators. It wasn't until Lord Karadoc Saik offered a solution to the immediate bread supply issue and Guildmaster Joscelin Arterius promised to address the price-gouging that the crowd relaxed, reassured by Asher Morrlin, a man of the people.|h|!W|/|/|-|h|!WLater, a local distiller was convinced to part with his newly acquired grain in exchange for assistance from the Crafter's Guild, but not before some windows of his shop were shattered and a crowd gathered, while rumors spread that the man was working with the besiegers. That crowd dispersed, and Lord Karadoc Saik pulled the strings needed to have bread delivered to the Lower Boroughs. But rumors continue to simmer under the surface, and there have incidents of mild violence against grain merchants, millers, bakers and distillers alike, accused of either naked greed or being in league with the Shavs. There are a lot more broken windows and overturned carts throughout Arx.|/|/|h|h|!X-----|/|/|h|!W|-Lord Killian Ashford was seen praying at the Great Cathedral of Arx. While he was praying, the Ashford nobleman seemed to collapse for a moment, and witnessed said they saw an odd shadowy darkness about him that then vanished in a bright, golden flash of light.|/|/|-|h|!WThe glorious events of the Wake of Lights, where Arx was blessed by the presence of the Queen of Endings Herself, are unfortunately shadowed by tragedy. A few hours after the Wake's end, the Queensrest Inn was host to a nightmarish event. Men and women, poisoned and driven mad with bloodlust, attacked their fellow citizens, while others were paralyzed by terrors only they could see. Some speak of Sir Silas Mercier, Commander of the Iron Guard, likewise affected by the murderous rage, cutting down his fellow citizens. Others speak of the efforts of Princess Freja Redrain to take on the voice... only to suffer wounds that knocked her unconscious. Legate Orazio and Prince Aiden Grayson suffered for longer than most under the poison's effect, and even once freed, could not prevent the tragedy. Sir Armel once again rose up to the occasion, even managing to invoke the powers of Gild, even save some of the Inn's staff. But for all this heroism, he was maimed, and the one that struck the Cathedral, the same that has now struck on the day where the people's hopes rose, is still free...|/|/|h|h|!X-----|/|/|h|!W|-Atop the ramparts of the fortress city the Defenders of Arx keep watch over the lands to all directions, the siege requiring constant vigilance. Near the Ramparts of the Seawatch gate, a hundred or so Shavs of the horde make a crazed charge, two hulking bringers leading them into battle with the intent to scale the walls of the city. Grappling hooks and massive javelins the size of ballistae bolts used to scale the walls. They are met by the valiant defenders Prince Darren Redrain, Princess Deva Redrain, Lady Aislin Ashford, Prince Reese Grayson, Lady Caelis Malvici, Prince Barric Grayson, the Trident Zhayla and Costas Voducce. Swords and arrows are put to the test as the walls are defended, but as the barbarians and their abyssal tainted masters scale the wall, Prince Darren and Prince Barric almost meet their end. If not for the intervention of the undead knight known as the Revenant. Together the forces of the Compact and this otherworldly warrior defend the wall, the shavs and bringers killed to the last.|/|/|h|h|!X-----|/|/|h|!W|-The Hall of Heroes has been a place that provided many calm and inspiration in these days where very little makes sense. And on a cold day of the winter siege many had come to see the plaque hung on the pedestal that will one day soon bear the statue of Lord Commander Dayne Valardin, a man that many consider Arvum's last living legend. It was perhaps only a matter of time before the enemy struck at us there to weaken our hearts. The precise details are all very confused as people that ran from the hall in fear where to panicked to explain what they saw, but three of this fearsome Bringers of Silence attacked, one disguised as an artisan mounting the plaque, and two others that had taken the place of Valardin Honor guard.|/|/|-|h|!WWhat happened next people remember more clearly, as some of Arvum's most powerful fighter's came to the Hall of Heroes that day. One of the large bringer's was descended on by Sir Roland, Lord Commander Silas, Prince Barric, Sparte all buried their blades into one of monsters. While a man named Merek poured blessed water over his blade and then ended the threat. Princess Alis and Lord Fiachra worked in amazing tandem, with crushing blows from the princess' flail and arrows from the Lord's quiver keep another Bringer off guard, while Princess Marian and Lady Eirlys tore it down with powerful blades. Against the third bringer, Prince Aiden stood his ground firing, arrow after arrow into the beast, refusing to flee, even as as the monster was upon him. Fearless in the face of death, Prince Barric and Lord Commander Silas wheeled to help the Grayson prince and brought down the final Bringer.|/|/|-|h|!WThe fighters were not the only heros. Lord Percephon kept his calm and helped evacuate civilians, while Prince Antonio and Lord Luis defended those trying to flee, and Mira helped tend to the wounds of bystanders hurt in the initial attack. It was an attempt by the Enemy to strike at our heart, but it was a night they say we will not buckle under fear. The message is clear, if they have come all the way to Arx to die, we are happy to oblige.{n
