  1. Hey all! Been a bit. Strap in, I got quite a lot to say about my current path as a creator.
  2.
  3. My channel has definitely taken a couple different directions this year and I'll be fully honest and say things haven't been the easiest. Over the past 2-3 weeks I've started to take notice of many common faults content creators trap themselves into.
  4.
  5. The few biggest for me being, 1. Trying to fulfill unrealistic expectations. Mentally at certain points I've prioritized trying to play up to the algorithm and what may perform well, rather than truly make what I enjoy.
  6.
  7. 2. Focusing on the numbers way too much, which very much overlaps with issue number 1. With how YouTube lays things out, it's very easy to sink yourself into statistics. Now-a-days it even ranks your latest videos from 1-10. I've had a handful of videos rank between 8-10 now, and it's the worst feeling in the world. To be honest I haven't checked any of my numbers in a solid week now because it's such a waste of time. It's very tempting and it's too easy to tie the numbers to your actual worth as a creator.
  8.
  9. After watching a recent two hour upload from a creator named 'Super Eyepatch Wolf', I'm glad to know a lot of these issues aren't even close to unique among creators on the platform. That being said, I've taken a lot of advice, and everyday I've been trying to shape a better mindset.
  10.
  11. Screw constantly stressing what the algorithm wants. I need to prioritize what I enjoy making. I'll be honest and say I haven't been fully satisfied with some of my projects I've finished in the past couple months. Out of my last five uploads, the Niftski one is probably the obly one I'll enjoy in a year from now. Ultimately, If I prioritize putting more love into what I'm most passionate about, I think it will also lead to viewers enjoying it more too because it's very noticeable when a creator puts something together they are truly proud of.
  12.
  13. After taking a step back and clearing all my thoughts, I think for the first time in a bit I can be comfortable with where my goals are lying forward. Instead of trying to pump out a project no matter what every 2 weeks, I'm going to constantly try my best to challenge myself, while making content that I can truly be satisfied with when I go back and reflect on it.
  14.
  15. I don't want to give any details, but I've been working on part 1 of what will be a pretty hefty series, with the script already being 25+ pages. I will probably be taking an extra week to work on this, and trust me it'll be worth it. I've been teaching myself something new everyday whether it's writing, audio, or editing. This is the most drive I've ever had to improve the channel, and I really hope it shows.
  16.
  17. Thank you to everyone who has shown support to the channel. Whether it's simply watching and commenting, or being on the discord and patreon. You all mean the world to me, and it's the foundation of why I strive to make myself better every single day. For the few who did read all this, I appreciate you. Stay tuned.
